What causes failure?
I wasn't sure where to post this question, so I figure I would ask those that are trying to maintain. Lately I have seen several people posting things like "Back to MFP again". I've seen a lot of people on here talking about how they lost weight and then gained some or all of it back so they are back on MFP. Why do people…

7 lb overnight weight gain
Hello, For some reason I gained about 7 lbs overnight. I wouldn't say I had an all out cheat day or anything because I did a pretty good workout. Last night I ran 9.06 miles straight without stopping (My longest run yet) in 1 hour and 27 minutes. I burned about 1300 calories. I did eat around 2600 calories though,…

so...this is awkward
Lost 30# or so and have joined the world of the living. Men have suddenly discovered the amazingly sensual creature I am & I have my own theme music. It plays in my head where ever I go (don't judge me) Boys steal glances at me & older (ahem) men of a certain age just outright stare. Apparently, I'm quite the head…

The Happy Weight Thread
This thread is to remind yourself why it's worth it to keep from gaining back lost weight. You can use comments, quotes, selfies, or motivational knick-knacks from the net. Whatever you want to store up to remind yourself when things get tough. My first one: I'm happier to go out and be social when I'm at my happy weight.

Skinny friends please
hi all! I have some great friends already but, like me, they're working hard to still lose weight. I think it would be great to have a few friends who have already met their goals and are maintaining. Please add me if you're an active, daily logger who isn't trying to lose. Congratulations to you all and thanks!

What is your "bounce" range?
So I am getting SOOOO close to maintenance- I only want to lose about 2-3 more lbs. My weight loss has slowed considerably obviously, but I am OK with that- I consider it "sliding" into maintenance. I am currently about 5'4 and this morning I weighed in at 146. I was wondering if any of you had a weight number above and/or…

Fitbit zip, holidays and maintenance weight
Ugh, every year the holidays packs 10-15 lbs on me and takes up to 3 months to get it off. I usually maintain my weight over half of the year, but come holidays, I lose it and get an I don't care attitude. I always say every year...I won't do that again and I'm back where I was and even a little on the worse side this…

Maintaining on Vacation
In a little less than two days I'll be leaving for a ten day vacation in Florida with my family! :) I'm so excited, but I'm fairly certain I won't be able to log accurately since there will be a lot of eating out/home meals. I haven't done this in a LONG time (except for Thanksgiving, which was one meal, and I still went…

How can a healthy diet?
We all know that eating a good breakfast, noon to eat well, eat and evening. Thus, the day breakfast is the key. Eat high-fiber breakfast cereal, low-fat milk, not only can help defecation, but also very nutritious and healthy, as meat, seafood is left to lunch and dinner you can eat light, to account for most of the…

Can raising calories increase metabolism?
Hey, I've heard that while dieting to lose weight, weekly re-feeds above maintenance are imperative as it temporarily spikes the metabolism. I also heard that after dieting to lose weight, the metabolism slows down and going straight from the deficit back maintenance calories will make the body see maintenance as a surplus…

Got back from training
Hey all! I just got back from Army training, and I've lost 10 pounds. I'm currently at 140 pounds which is my ideal weight but lately I've been gaining a few pounds from holiday parties (I don't eat beyond 2000 calories). Should I continue to consume 2,000 calories or go lower? Could it be the amount of sugar I consume? My…

Struggling with maintenance (after 5 months of no issues)
Sigh... I joined MFP in March at 114 lbs. (I'm just shy of 5'1). More than the number on the scale, I had just gotten squishy. I was VERY careful for about a month in terms of what I ate, then just more watched my cals in vs cals out (ie I have ice cream just about every night). By the end of June/early July, I was 97lbs.…

How to properly fix a damaged metabolism?
So after research, ive concluded that ive damaged my metabolism, I'm certain, but I wont explain as it would make the question too long. I heard that when you lose weight, the metabolism decreases at a faster rate than your weight does, like if you lose down to 150lbs than youd have the metabolism of a 145lbs person or…

Ah, Christmas. The way I used to eat.
Amazing contrast, i realized today. After living on a godforsaken starvation diet since January ... it's fun (and scary) to take a _real_ day off and eat like I used to. A cookie here and there. Cheese and crackers. Crabcakes. As much beer as I want. Dinner based on gravy and heavy cream. Yikes!! The good old days? Not…

How do you know whats water, fluctuation, or weight gain?
Im in the process of upping to maintenance. Im nervous after being at a low calorie deficient for so long. I've seen so many people say that maintenance is trial and error before you get it right. But Ive also seen so many people who can't keep up with/gain back weight when switching and are back to losing again. So when…

Please share your number one strategy for maintaining
Hi Everyone! I am within 4.5 pounds of my weight loss goal. I am proud of myself for eating a wide variety of foods in moderation, logging daily, moving my body more, and keeping an open, positive mind about this journey. I have the losing weight part down, but I am no expert at maintaining. So, I am curious what your #1…

Trying to repair a damaged matabolism
Hey all! Not sure if this is where I should post this question. But I'll give it a try. So, my stats are 5"5, 27 yo F, 175lb I'll try to make the history brief. Back in 2007, I got married to my (amazing) husband. I put on 30lbs that first yr of marriage...weighing in at 205 in 2008. I tried losing weight by calorie…

My diet is pretty good (this week excluded!) with almost no processed foods and I seem to get close to my macros on most days. I do eat chocolate daily. :) MFP set my…

Maintained 2.5 years WITH PICS
I dropped 47 pounds from April 2011-September 2011 just by lowering my calories and diligently logging in and sticking to my goals. Can't maintain efficiently
Hey guys! I'm really struggling to maintain. I have been eating 1200 calories (plus little snacks here and there) for almost a year. I'm 5' 3" and 115 pounds give or take. I want to stay this weight, but there are periods where I drop below it to like 112. Somehow, I always get myself to gain it back. So, a while back I…
