5K Success
This past November, I ran my 1st 5K in a charity run for a family friend that had cancer (he's in remission now, yay!) and finished with a 59:29 time. I joined MFP in late January and have since lost 21 lbs. Today, I ran my 2nd 5K and my time was ***49:30*** That's right. I beat my first time by 9:59. Oh yeah!

living and loving life!
So I have been at this for a little over three months, and am having wonderful success. Yesterday, however, brought the best victory yet. And it has nothing to do with the scale, measurements, or physical appearance. Up to this point, any splurge brought with guilt with it. At times I felt obsessive about what I consumed…

The scale went down!
This may not be a big success story, but I was really struggling yesterday the bad weather here put a huge damper on my mood. But I logged on My Fitness Pal and got lots of support and ideas and it helped so much! I got through the day. and only ate a couple things not really diet friendly this for me is big! I know how I…

From 265 to 210: story and photos
Hello. I'm a 6'5", 25, male. I was overweight most of my life, but I went really overboard in the first year or two in college, topping off at 265lbs. I was also drinking much more than anyone should. Then everything changed. What caused me to turn my life around was boredom. It was one hour before class and I was bored. I…

My first NSV
I had the most comfortable pair of jeans Levi's hugged my bum and looked good for what it was. But the other day I went to put them on and they did not fit AT ALL...So I had another pair my skinny girl jeans my goal jeans I stared at them for a bit ( I have tried them on before but when they dont fit I would just feel like…

My NSV's
Since the scale and I sometimes disagree on what it reads and what I think it should read, I'm building my confidence by listing my NSV's. So far I am wearing a watch that I dearly love but have not been able to wear 'cause it didn't fit. My bra size has gone down ( two high fives for that one!), and two long time…

A Baggy, Sweaty, NSV
I just thought I'd share a little NSV with everyone... Today I am going out with my hubby to buy new workout pants! It's time.. some are so old that they have holes and some are so baggy that they won't stay in place while I exercise! I haven't had to buy new workout pants since undergrad (and i'm in my 4th year of…

Met my goal... But may go a little more. Thoughts?
On April 28, 2008 I weighed 444 lbs. I had to lose weight because I was in rough shape. I had lymphedema in my legs and ended up with infections in them that the docs could not cure despite numerous hospitalizations, bi-weekly visits to wound care specialist and twice daily dressing changes that involved bathing the wounds…

What is NSV?

Success story - and caution about getting impatient close to
Hello all, this is my first post but my husband and I have both been on MFP since last summer. I am "pretty much" at goal and my husband is within 7 lbs of goal. Prior to the end of July 2010, my husband had been threatening to go on a diet "next Monday" for years and years as his weight steadily went up. When we first got…

I am Victorious! Right?
I am extremely proud of myself for what my scale says I weigh. "Normal weight"!
This morning, my BMI hit 24.9! That's the highest value in the "normal weight" range! And I'm .7 lb away from my halfway point! I know that BMI isn't really relevant for people with a high percentage of lean muscle mass, but trust me, I'm not one of those people! In fact, once I hit my halfway point, I'm going to start…

YEAH!
I made it to ONEderland this week! And I plan on taking up permanent residency here.....no more visits to the land of TWO! I also was able to wear a pair of jeans yesterday that I haven't worn for more than a year. I'M SO HAPPY! Onward march to 180 land......happy dance!

Updated progress, about halfway there. pics
I wasn't really planning on doing this again just yet but one of my MFP friends just did his and I figured why not. I could probably use a little positive feedback and I hope that these pics could help motivate others. I've said it before and many others have also said it, but you really sometimes don't see a difference…

Setting Mini Goals, how do you guage?
It occurred to me the other day to set mini goals with mini rewards. I can't have this be all about the scale, b/c I weigh myself once a week and care more about clothing that fits/measurements, etc. So how do you do your goal setting? I meant gauge.

Todays NSV...!
By a lot of peoples standards this is probably somewhat un-impressive. But today, I RAN 1.25 miles....!!! To me, this is HUGE..! Throughout my life, and even since starting the commitment to get myself in a healthier place, I have had the mantra that "I am not a runner". This has been with good reason - because I DON'T…

NSV - resting heart rate!!!!
Wow. Last night while surfing the 'net (reading MFP stuff of course) I noticed my pulse beating very slow, like the same speed as the seconds clock on my macbook. I timed it. 60bpm!!! Then I did it again: 56bpm!!! When I started this journey exactly 2 months ago it was 118. Test yours today! It's a significant measure of…

NSV... I think
I'm not sure if I should be flattered or insulted... so I'm going to go with chalking up a comment made at work to me as a compliment. Was coming back from a coworker's birthday luncheon... and after having drank wayyyyyy too much iced tea, I was having to do the "if you know what's good for you, you'll get out of my way…
