I've eliminated refined sugar, wheat, alcohol and dairy (except butter) from my diet. I've been working out a ton so trying to get cheap ways to add calories. When you eliminate junk foods I've found it can be much harder to hit my calorie targets! Potatoes are $0.23 /lb which is $0.68 per 1000cal Quacker Oats are $3 for…

Calories for juicing?
For those that add fresh juice to their diet. Is there a way to enter this or do you just add the ingredients seperately (ie green apple, pear, kale, etc)? I do a juice for breakfast and then sometimes a green juice for an afternoon snack and want to make sure I am calculating it correctly. Thanks!!

Raw weight vs cooked weight
Okay, so I might have been doing something a bit silly. When I prep my meals, I weigh everything in its raw state. But for example, when I enter it into myfitnesspal, I have been using "Chicken - Breast, Meat Only, Cooked, Dry Heat, 105 g " - when in fact the raw weight was 105gm.....so this morning, as I was prepping my…

Calories Vs. Fat Calories?
I hope I don't sound like a complete idiot. Buttttt I don't get it exactly. So when you see something that's say 210 calories and 90 fat calories, does that mean that altogether, you're eating 300 calories? Are the fat calories separate or are they already included in the 210 but they are just letting you know that 90 of…

Are all calories created equal?
If I'm trying to lose weight and I eat 1300 calories a day, which is my deficit needed to lose 1.5 lbs per week... would it make a difference in my weight loss if those calories are from clean, nutritious foods vs. unhealthy "empty" calories? My goal is to eat clean most of the time but I have the occasional slip up (which…

62 pounds a year
Was bored and curious. Since I started my diet I stopped drinking soda. I decided to calculate how many calories that would equate to for a years worth of my soda drinking. I averaged 4 a day +/- usually mountain dew. That works out to an extra 218400 calories a year or an equivalent of 62 pounds. Holy cow! I always knew…

lowering triglycerides and getting to few calories
I know another "too few calories thread". I'm as surprised as anyone that I'm getting to few calories! More on that in a minute. Lets start with me. I'm 38 yo male, 5'11 & was about 195 when I was tested a month ago. My triglycerides were 288, HDL 42, LDL 119, overall 219 (b/c of the tri's). About 5 years ago I got tested…

Lost 5 lb in 10 days! And in a healthy way
Netting about 1400-1500 calories a day. I followed key points that my fit husband gave me (he got them from reading science articles) 1) If you eat less, you must exercise or your metabolism will slow down. You must exercise at least every other day. 2) It takes 20 minutes of continuous cardio for your body to start…
