Not a terrible snack?
Hi! i was wondering if anyone has suggestions for sort of shelf stable-low maintance snacks. I'm okay with rice cakes, though they're pretty messy. I also eat raisins and nuts (although they have more calories than I expected). I eat crackers sometimes (also a mess). My frig isn't great so shelf stable-ish things would be…

Discrepancy of calories counted
Hi all, have successfully lost 73lbs so far on a combination of diets and exercise and enjoying using your app to maintain weight and possibly lose more. A query however. Here in UK - fast food/bakery outlet Greggs has pasta salads which your app scans and produces a calorie count of 250+ but their packaging states 480… a…

Super-Fast Breakfast options
First time posting here, how y'all doing? I am working on meal planning. It's going okay, but the big problem I am having is with breakfast on the days I work. I have severe sleep apnea and narcolepsy, which I use a machine and take medication for. However, I still have issues waking up in the morning, meaning that…

Protein Powder vs Hydrolyzed Collagen
I'm working on losing ~100 lbs (~25lbs down so far!) and am working pretty hard tracking calories. I've been including some protein powder (mostly whey isolate) in my morning coffee/tea and in the occasional smoothie (and tracking it of course). In the past, I was of the opinion that adding protein powder was "just adding…

Diabetic Friendly Food Swaps
I was pre-diabetic for about 10 years and then became full diabetic. I have managed to stay off medication by bringing down my numbers with diet and exercise and I'm always looking for more ways to eat the foods I crave without having my blood sugar spike. What are some of your favorite swaps or recipe tips to help keep…

? re calories earned via exercise
I've reached my weight goal, and have increased my walking quite a bit. I'm never quite confident about eating those extra calories. My plan is 1362 daily, I usually earn 200-700 more per day depending on how much I walk. Have been exceptionally hungry lately. Do i need more calories or more nutrient-dense food? Thanks.

Meal Replacement Shake suggestions?
I'm looking for a good meal replacement shake. Something that isn't low cal but has a good amount of protein (~30g) and good micro nutrients. I have been finding it difficult to make lunch everyday (ADHD) and I've tried a shake for lunch the past few days and it's really helped. But the shake powders I've been using were…

How to measure pasta
When I am recording pasta consumed, such as one of the Barilla products, and I see something like "3 ounces" and it gives me a calorie reading, Is it saying 3 ounces of uncooked pasta = x calories or is it saying 3 ounces after cooking = x calories? Obviously the cooking process causes the pasta to absorb water and is…

Need to increase sodium - helpful ideas??
Hi all! My cardiologist told me that I need to increase my sodium intake. I have been struggling with that! Their suggestions on how to do that were to add table salt to my meals, or try to eat more foods like pretzels or potato chips which are salty. However, I rather dislike salty-tasting foods! Lol I’ve always bought…

The man shake is it worth it?
As the description of the topic shows. Is it worth it? Does it actually work? (Like all weightloss shakes claim). Whats the difference between that and the other ones in the market? Any real results on these around? For the Average Joe or Samuel Johnson Smith?

What can I eat
Maybe a stupid question, but I notice when I’m having diet foods I go over my calories by like a thousand daily but when I ate what I wanted I was under daily calories by like at least 500 . I’m scared that I will get high blood pressure or diabetes I had some success in the past just eating what I want and logging…

Trying to reverse pre-diabetes
Hi all! I've used MyFitnessPal before, but never very faithfully. I've been on a very long journey battling my body. I would say, "battling my weight", but I thought I was fat long before I ever was. I joined Weight Watchers when I was in the middle of my recommended BMI, and no one stopped me. It only made me obsessive,…

Hello everyone, I found out that i need to start taking high blood pressure medication. Weird sleep and calories
How do you guys manage your calories when your sleep cycle isn't based on 24 hours, such as during a summer vacation? I have a lot of sleep issues, so it probably happens as often as not. Skipping calorie counting on those days wouldn't really work out because they're so often. I've tried getting it treated and it's still…

Engineered to Cause Overeating
Junkfood trigger warning 3 questions 1)how do you reverse-engineer junk foods so you enjoy them and feel satisfied BEFORE the 1000 calorie mark? 2) is it better to junk out one day or spread the same mass out on various days? 3) has anyone noticed junk foods getting blander? Context: 1)So apparently some processed foods…

What do you find filling?
I have trouble staying within my calorie target because I get too hungry. I have heard protein helps you feel full longer. Is this true? That is the macro I probably don’t get enough. I find fat satisfying but so calorie dense. If I don’t measure I could eat too much. Some people say volume. Eat lots of veggies. I do eat…

Why fitnesspal recommend 91g of daily sugar intake
I read everywhere that we should eat max 35g per day (male), so i don’t understand this goal that the app has set by default

Travel scale-yes or no?
Is it worth it to (also) buy a smaller food scale to bring with you when you're going out to eat? I've heard of people doing that before but the only reason I could think that it would be helpful is in those 9 out of 10 occassions where I forget my doggy bag in the car after and don't eat the rest. (So I have a more…

Millets and diabetes
How millets release glucose? We've always heard and some what believed that millets are good for diabetics, their slow-release mechanism helps to release glucose over a period time, etc So if you never believed it, it's ok, neither did I 😉 So I thought of trying it out and see if there's really proof in this pudding called…

I need your ideas for more protein please!
I'm quite a way off hitting my protein macros, on 40/30/30. I need to eat dairy and gluten free, highish fibre and 2 tbsp ground flax seed per day. I've been having that soaked in almond milk for breakfasts, but I could do with adding more protein to that meal in particular. I have tried adding nut butters, nuts or seeds,…

Understanding Fat Goals
I am having a hard time tracking meals to be high calorie, lower fat. Even some of my meals show I have 21g of fat, but most of those are polysaturated and monosaturated. There might be 1g of saturated fat, no trans fats. Mind you, my alternative meals are very low fat, like a salad with maybe 1tbsp of dressing. I am just…
