Scales or measurements?
Hi, I’ve just started my new plan and I’m on 1500 calories but I burn anywhere from 300-800 by activity a day. Sometimes I tend to eat some of the calories back. I got in the scales today 2 weeks in and stayed the same? Should I start eating what I stated as 1500? Also, is it better to track measurements then scales as I…

Ate like a pig this weekend and still lost 😲
I kinda let it go this weekend a little bit. Not so much with eating food but had a good amount of sweets which I rarely do and haven't let go like this in more than 2+ years. I actually didn't even bother to count calories real close this weekend. I was scared to step on the scale this morning and I'm down. 😲 Only 1 pound…

How much was your vacation weight gain?
I am getting married in less than 3 weeks and going to Aruba for a week for my honeymoon. I plan on enjoying myself and not going crazy with counting calories. I definitely don't plan to binge or just eat everything in sight but I do expect some what of a weight gain when I come back. What was your damage after a week of…

3 questions: Logging, diary history, etc
Hi MFP Community, Thanks for all of your replies recently to my string. Theyre really helpful. I am wondering a few things: 1. When you enter a food to log it, how do you know which option is calorically correct? For instance, lentil soup has dozens of entries and the calories range significantly. This is a homemade recipe…

Hello! Forgive me for asking this again especially because I feel like I’ve asked it before lol - but for anybody who has had to lose a lot (50 plus) did you focus on diet first and then exercise once you got to a certain weight? Heart Rate and Diet
So I’m fairly fit. I ran a marathon last month. As I finished training for that, I’m doing insanity at the minute. My heart rate tends to reflect that and my RHR is always under 60. However, I tend to find my HR drops considerably when I diet. I’ve only really been active on here a few days as I used to have this ages ago…

4th time lucky?
Back up to 266lbs as of last week. 3 times I've gone down to 220lbs from around 266 and put it back on every time. Trouble is each time when I get down to 220lbs I cant get any lower. Like not even 219. So I'll be back in a year or so when I'm down to 220 for some advice. I remember 10 years ago I got down to 220 and…

250 calorie deficit, good idea or a motivation buster?
Hey everyone, So a little background I have a whole host of health problems, it's a big barrier to me losing weight however I'm still going to try. Anyone else doing this by feel rather than weight?
I dont own a set of scales I haven't done in years but I know I'm above my happy weight by my body shape and size and hope to be able to judge progress by feel and if things get looser on me. Ideally I'd like to go from my current UK 12-14 back to a UK 10, maybe 8-10 regardless of what that means in actual weight. Is that…

What do you do?
Just curious, what do you do for a living? This has always been a point of fascination with me, seeing as we spend more time at work than anywhere typically. How has it impacted your goals regarding diet and fitness? What have you done to overcome any challenges?

Exercise calories: MFP vs TDEE calculators ?
Hi! I was wondering how TDEE calculators estimate how many calories are burned during exercise. According to most TDEE calculators, in order to lose 1lbs a week I need a 500 calories deficit. Which puts me at ~2000cal a day. I know that MFP overestimates calories burned during exercise. So how do I know that TDEE…

Activity tracker: Vivosmart 4 / Vivosport ?
So I’m thinking about replacing my current activity tracker (Polar Loop 2). My criteria are: - a small ‘neutral looking’ activity tracker: I have very small wrists and hands and I don’t want a large/clunky/sporty watch - step count - total calories burned - tracks workouts (including heart rate monitoring) (mostly…

weight loss and sleep apnea
My husband was diagnosed with fairly bad sleep apnea probably about 6 years ago. The doctor at that time told him that losing weight could potentially make it go away (as neck circumference apparently has a large bearing on it?). Since then he's gained probably almost 50lbs (well we both have lol) and now we are both…
