Logging avocado
How does everyone do this, there seems to be different options! I've started weighing it in grams, but numbers seem quite low. (Eg I had 30g of avocado, but this only gave me 48 cals. Is this because the weight of an avocado assumes the stone? I don't use cups only food scales.

Sweet potato calories raw vs cooked
When I look up sweet potato, I got this http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods/show/3254?qlookup=11507&max=25&man=&lfacet=&new=1. It says 1 sweet potato 5" long and 130g is 112 calories. Most sites say a medium sweet potato about same weight is around 112 calories. When I weighed a sweet potato that was 5' long and 2' diameter…

Recommended daily grams of sugar for women... too high on my fitness pal
The health organizations recommend to use 24 daily grams of added sugar each day for women. They don't include natural sugar which is in fresh fruits. My fitness pal recommendations for me is 64 daily grams of sugar. Too high, Unless they assume that I will eat fruit, and they add the natural sugar from fresh fruit to my…

Keto help
I've been on keto for a little over a week now, I have done it for an extended time in the past. Anyways I'm struggling with nausea and high heart rate. Some days I feel awesome, today not so much. My heart will cruise over 100 when I'm sitting and resting. I take extra salt, nu-salt and magnesium most days.

Back on the keto bandwagon
I’m one week into my new journey after a few failed attempts. I got a full meal plan and guide this time and it’s made the whole time a lot easier. How is everyone else doing it? Have you been using plans or figuring it out as you go?

Adult Beverages
So the summer is upon us. Although I don’t usually drink alcohol, when we go to the cottage for the week we usually take a case of beer and cider and it is very much enjoyed. This year with trying to watch my calorie intake I have become very aware of how many calories and carbs are in one beer or cider! What do you…

KFC: same product but different number of calories
Today I was trying to find calories in KFC crispy tenders. Surprisingly, different KFC official websites are giving totally different numbers. This makes me wonder are any of these numbers real? Does anyone know, in general, how reliable nutritional labels from the fastfood companies are? USA 130 calories…

Tracking WholeFoods Pre-Prepared foods
Hi, In the UK how can you track the foods that Wholefoods pre-prepare themselves? The majority of bar codes when scanned are not found and not sure how to track these. For example pre-prepared meats, fish and fruits such as: watermelon, Zucchini, pumpkin, sweet potatoes etc. Is there a way to find these foods in my fitness…

Registering slices of bread when you make your own sourdough
I don't trust MFP's guess of calories for this, it's based on someone else's recipe so isn't going to be accurate for me. Does anyone have experience of this? I tried to enter my own recipe - unsure how to log the sourdough starter ? It also wanted to know how many portions my recipe makes - well, that depends on how we…

How many grams of broth did I consume?
Today, I ordered a bowl of udon from the sushi restaurant. I weighed the entire bowl and then after I ate it, I weighed the bowl with the leftover soup in it and subtracted that number from the original weight. The end result was 543 grams. But obviously, I didn't consume 543 grams of udon, because the udon must've soaked…

Breastfeeding + Exercise Calories???
Hey! I am about 4 months postpartum and am starting to try to lose weight as of tomorrow now that I'm somewhat sleeping and have a good milk supply. I've looked at different calorie/TDEE calculators and have gotten wildly differing recommendations for how much I should be eating to lose steadily and not lose my milk. My…

That last evening snack
Hi! Does anyone know of an app or website (or part of this one) that can give you ideas for a snack for those last carbs/calories/fat/sugar that you have left on your daily amount? Something where you can plug in those numbers and you can easily get a few ideas? Thanks!

Roasting veg - weigh before or after?
I like to put veggies in the oven - peppers, courgette, tomatoes are my favourite. But they weigh nothing when they come out of the oven, I can eat half a courgette and it weighs a few grams and barely contains any calories. Should I be weighing this pre-cooking? I can't tell which is more accurate. Thanks.

Hello! I'm new here. 46 yo female. I am asking a question that I know has been discussed a million times, and it's a hot topic, but I thought I'd get some clarity from those of you who are walking the fitness path that I am just starting. My question is about protein. I know it's super important, but I am trying to figure…

It’s not just about calories
Hello all. I just wanted to share something with you. I used to post on these forums a lot and I would always say it’s not as simple as calories in VS calories out. I’d have lots of people saying that it is that simple. So during lockdown (after a long strength bulk) I decided to do a cutting experiment. I would only track…

Macros
I'm trying to zero in on my nutrition and want to start tracking my macros. I've used 3 different online calculators and they've all given me different numbers that aren't even close. One told me that I should be eating 80 grams of protein per day, the other said almost 200! That's a huge difference. How can I find the…

Low carb
I lose weight better by doing low carb so I am going to try it again. However, I can't eat eggs in the morning because they make me sick. They have always upset my stomach. I work a full time job and usually eat a pack of cheese and peanut butter crackers and water (yes, I know those are not low carb). I am needing…

What’s the difference between ‘Calories net and total’
Hi. I’m eating 1200 a day, burning 450 a day by cycling. I’m only eating 1200 a day-is that correct? I’m losing on average 1lb a week and I’ve lost a stone in 14 weeks. But I’m confused by the calories net and total. For example, My weekly ‘net’ says under weekly goal by 2300 calories but the ‘total’ says I’m Over my…

UK food labelling confusion - "as consumed"
On a UK food label of something like rice, quinoa, etc., what does it mean when the calories are listed per "per 100g (as consumed). Does that mean you have to weigh it once it has been cooked (i.e. once it has absorbed water etc.) in order to get an accurate calorie count?
