Foods that make you bloat
I've had home made spaghetti and meatballs for dinner logged in at 461 calories per serving. Not an epic amount. Have just had to undo my jeans! Suddenly so bloated it's uncomfortable. I don't remember ever having this before I started dropping the weight. Lost around 10lb since October. Is this linked? What other foods…

Attn: pizza makers - are pizza peels worth it? Which one?
Because I don't have a pizza peel to transfer uncooked pizza, I haven't been preheating my cast iron pizza pan like several of my recipes say to do. I did preheat the pan when I made pita bread last weekend and really liked how the pitas came out. However, when I went to Amazon to buy a peel I was overwhelmed by all the…

Weighing/Measuring My Green Beans
So everything says that a food scale is the way to go over using a measuring cup. Here's the thing that's been frustrating me to no end so I thought I'd ask you guys. My canned greans beans state a serving size is 1/2 cup (120g) ... well 120g comes out to be WAY more than 1/2 cup! So which is correct??

IIFYM Practioners just eat “junk”?
I am someone who follows IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) as a way of eating. Many times, IIFYM haters state that all we eat is pop tarts, ice cream and cheeseburgers, and IIFYM is unhealthy. That could be the case for some IIFYMers, I suppose. But I thought I’d give a quick visual representation of what my IIFYM life looks…

Caloric Intake for Healing Broken Bones
I hit a tree snow sledding and have 11 spine and rib fractures. I can lift no more than 5 lbs and no bending, twisting, turning, pushing or pulling. So basically I can do very little. How many calories do I need to heal and maintain my weight? I've gained 8 lbs in 3 weeks mostly because I have to eat what I'm given. Thanks!

Post Workout Protein Powder
Trying to find a good post-workout protein powder. Any suggestions? I was using Muscle Milk Pro Series, then I realized how much extra stuff they put into it. Then I found FitCrunch Protein Powder which seems good (120 cals - 25g protein) but I haven't heard much about it. Need something new. Thanks!

counting braising liquid calories?
Yesterday I did a braised roast using a bottle of wine as the liquid. Obviously, I'm not going to eat all of the liquid, but some was absorbed by the roast and I used a little as an au jus on the side. Would you enter the entire bottle of wine in the recipe builder?

For the over 50 crowd, special nutrition concerns.
For those of us over 50, we are starting to feel the effects of old injuries, illnesses, and just old age. What are your takes on how to live a great active healthy life after 50?? How low do you go?
So I've been trying the low-carb thing and even though I've nixed fruit, all grains, etc etc, I still can't keep my carbs below 50? Do I really just have to eat plates of meat and eggs? Do I need to increase my calories?
I'm 3 weeks into doing 1200/cals a day and I've already lost 12 pounds. I hover between 1200-1300 cals everyday. Started at 167 and today I'm 155. I don't feel like I'm depriving myself at all and I actually feel pretty satisfied day in and day out. I know a lot of this is probably water weight but I feel like the rate is…
