another protein question-
If the body can only handle 20 g protein at a time, how long is that for? In other words, if I eat a snack with 20 g. protien, can I have more protein like 2-3 hrs later?

Little spoons....
How I  thee. So does anyone else use little spoons to eat their desserts??? My boyfriend thinks I'm a nut because I absolutely adore them. It takes me longer to eat my little portions of heaven, so I feel like I am getting more and it is very satisfying. My grandmother got me hooked, by giving me the baby spoon she…

When I first started at MFP I religiously drank my reccomended amount of water each day, but as time went on I have slacked. I still drink only water at work and at home unless I have fat free skim milk....but I was only drinking when I felt thirsty and often only finished one small (16 ounce) bottle, sometimes not even…

Confessions of a Soy basher
I haven't been too shy about jumping on a thread about soy and sharing my opinion that soy isn't for men. My opinion was/is based on articles I have read that the phytoestrogens in soy could lower testosterone and boost estrogen. Both bad and scary things for men. Standing in line at the check out yesterday, the one and…

Pink, Blue, Yellow or Green?
I have to use one of them, I've tried to do without, but I can't. I don't feel comfortable using the pink packets anymore, and even less the blue. :noway: I was using the yellow, and have just tried the green. I've heard bad things about all of them, except the new green one. But of course all things "diet" are…

Yummy finds and great info
All-Bran Rolled Fiber Wafers - In both Strawberry and Chocolate, these things look like those crazy cereal straw thingees Kellogg makes. In fact, we're pretty sure these ARE cereal straws, just with added fiber and a "healthy" new spin. Each 3-wafer serving has 130 calories, 4g fat, 28g carbs, 10g fiber, and 2g protein…

Caramel Popcorn/Kettlecorn Craving
I made a little snack tonight that reminded me of caramel popcorn...it was salty/sweet (not as crunchy). I might fill a craving though. It's really simple. I bought corn meal mush (aka Polenta) and sliced it into 3 slices that equaled about an inch total (this is 3 oz of cornmeal). I pan-fried it with non-stick spray until…

Soy milk..
I have recently started using light soy milk because we are not big milk fans and with only me and my husband, even quart spoils before we use it. The soy milk lasts for at least a month, and I actually don't mind the taste. My question is...is the soy milk considered one of my daily dairy servings? Or is it a protein. I'm…

Cooking Light subscription worth it?
I have been trying to find more and more places for good recipes, and the Healthy Living section in the back of Southern Living is good, sometimes Better Homes and Gardens has some good stuff, but hubby wants to be a chef (:noway: right?!) and so I need more options so he can cook his little heart out. With the cost of…

10 Ways to Boost Your Metabolism
1. Build Muscle Our bodies constantly burn calories, even when we’re doing nothing. This resting metabolic rate is much higher in people with more muscle. Every pound of muscle uses about 6 calories a day just to sustain itself, while each pound of fat burns only 2 calories daily. That small difference can add up over…

Rhodiola Rosea
I used to take rhodiola for increased focus and energy throughout the day a while ago. This morning, I found I still had some in a blister pack.
