Working out my calories
Hello! So I’ve been counting calories on and off for a while now, and am currently trying to maintain my weight. I’m struggling to estimate my activity levels as I have a desk job but walk around 12-15k steps a day minimum, do 40 minute sessions at the gym three times a week and run a 5k once a week (for context I am 5’7,…

Intermittent Fasting
Is anyone doing the 16/8 intermittent fasting? I've been doing it for about a week and a half now and I really liked it but I find that I'm not very hungry during the time that I'm supposed to be eating but I am making sure that I get all the necessary nutrients during that time so I'm assuming that the calories don't…

Losing very slowly and that's okay
I've done fast weight loss before and ended up yo-yoing multiple times. Now, I'm going at my own pace, which averages out at half a pound per week. Today I hit -40 pounds and I'm not at all bothered that it took 80 weeks to get here. The time would have passed anyway and I've proven to myself that I can sustain this…

Intake fluctuation effect metabolism?
I am working with a trainer (who I will also ask this question to) but some days I am happy and full at 1700 and some days I'm at 2100 and feel like I'm starving to death. My daily goal right now is 2000. Will a swing of this much, say 400 calories, day to day have a negative impact on my metabolism long term?

Going for a run to make up for going over the limits
Is this the correct way to do it? Basically the family wanted a chippy tea tonight, so I participated and had 300g of deep fried chips and 330g of battered cod. To top it off I had a jam and cream filled doughnut. At this point I was now over my calorie target and over my fat target for the day. So I went out and did a…

Half Marathon!
Hey everyone! I decided to do a half marathon in December (FIRST TIMER!) with my older sister who is a runner. For a typical training, should I be increasing my run at least a mile longer every week?? I know I’m supposed to alternate between short runs and longer runs during the week. The most I’ve ever ran is 8 miles - &…

Tracking break
I've tracked everything I've eaten for 12 days. I've kept a keen note of things mentally. My plan now is to not track everything as I should have a good idea of what is a good amount etc. I've made a few tweaks to my meals, mainly to try and eat more protein. I'm not sure if it is just in my head but since eating more…

What am I missing?
I am a 45 year old mother of 3. I have already lost 30kg slowly over two years in 2018-2019 from 107kg to 77kg. I did IF with calorie counting, MFP and upped my exercise from zero to walking 6km or bike riding 20+km three times a week. Yay me. Then I became a bit complacent and my weight crept up 1 or 2kg. Then covid hit…

The Importance of Verifying Database Entries
You will often hear us say to check the accuracy of your database selections when logging your food. Being a mostly user generated database ... inaccuracies are more common than not. Whether by user entry error or simply old entries that are simply no longer accurate due to manufacturing recipe changes. A perfect example…

Herbalife for weight lost...anyone had results with it?
I've been hearing a lot about Herbalife lately. My sister just ordered the Quick Start Program over the weekend. A friend of mine uses & sells it and swears by it, and my sisters friend swears by it. I'm skeptical, because I've tried protein shakes & bars in the past and they did nothing for my appetite. Everyone says to…

Noom - For binge eaters
I joined Noom in an attempt to finally break free of my binge eating disorder. I’m introverted and the thought of actually going to a therapist has always wigged me out. Is it okay to continue trying to lose weight but ditch the gym?
I have about 100 pounds to lose still, and I was consistently going to the gym 4-5 days a week. I was calorie counting, but still only losing 1 pound a week. Now that I stopped going to the gym, I am losing 2-3 pounds a week. Is that going to eventually catch up with me and hinder my weight-loss since I have a significant…

Increased Activity Level
My original goal was to lose 11lbs from 106lbs to 95lbs. I'm 4'10" by the way. I reached that easily. I'm also weightlifting, and I have a lean, but defined body now. I kept dropping weight. I was 92.2lbs today. I had my activity level set at sedentary. That put my pre-exercise maintenance calories at 1250. With exercise,…

Steps & calories
Hi everyone, I’m hoping some of you experienced people can clear something up for me. When it comes to calories burned, do steps taken or does distance covered matter more? From what I have read, 2000 steps is on average about 1 mile of distance. So therefore, 10,000 steps is about 5 miles distance. 10,000 steps should…

Fitbit App Stuck On Dominant Wrist?
Anyone else like to swap the wrist you wear your Fitbit on every 1-2 days? I like to swap mine and I make sure I change the setting in the Fitbit app to correspond with which wrist I have it on. Recently my app just keeps switching it back to "Dominant." Anyone else experience this?
