'One' something...finally!
Weighed in this morning at 199.8 pounds. First time there has been a 'One' on my scale since I was in my 20's (thirty+ years ago). Less than 14 months ago I was within one all-you-can-eat buffet of 300 pounds. I knew I was getting close to this number as last Saturday morning I was at 202.4. Had a good week and this…

Happy MFP Anniversary to me! (with before & after!!)
Well hello everyone! Its so hard to believe that its been a whole year since I discovered MFP, signed up and really got started with changing my life. I had started becoming concerned with my weight in January 2009 when I balloned up to 278...I had always told myself "I'll never go over 2xx" each time I…

Finally compared before and after pictures!
Hi All, So, recently I've been getting frustrated because I haven't seen much of a difference in my body. In order to keep motivating myself I decided that B&A pictures were finally necessary. Here's before and after 40 lbs lost! Before: http://i952.photobucket.com/albums/ae5/cmc82689/Weight Loss/before.jpg After: (I tried…

DL Photo!
OKAY! So I keep thinking...looking...for that perfect picture that shows my weight loss. The other day at dinner with friends, everyone whipped out their Drivers Licenses to compare and laugh at. I pulled mine out and added it to the pile. When it got picked up my friend's husband said "Nuh uh. Nope. Nada. Not you. Can't…

You know you're making process when......
Your Knee high socks that used to only go partly up your calf's go up Over your knees and have to be folded over. (and not because they are stretched out!) You can wear three different layers under your jeans and still be able to bend over like a normal person, Same thing with the top half. Two extra layers and not look…

"OMG, I didn't even recognize you!..."
So I'm a graduate student (finishing up my degree, actually), and I was in our grad library the other day. One of my friends was in there, and so was a kid that graduated in May. I haven't seen him in about a year, since we didn't have any classes together last spring semester. The two of them were talking and he was at…

end of our first week!!!
Wife and I are in this together... Whole new experience weighing food, recording calories, limiting snacks, exercising. Its changing our buying habits! Somebody posted about the miracle TJ soup and we tried it and really like it.. Thank you to whoever!! With a few tweaks the soup is more than palatable and great for snowy…

I Made It!
Every new eating plan I try falls apart around 6-month point. I get lazy and think "it's ok if I have a burger and fries", only instead of once in a great while, it turns into once a week or twice a week. Then I 'allow' myself to have other things I shouldn't and stop paying attention to what I'm eating. Before you know…

Fave form of cardio?
I'm posting in success stories because obviously whatever cardio you are doing is working! What do you do for cardio? I'm not regularly exercising right now aside from playing volleyball once a week and I'm trying to motivate myself to do so. I would love to start running and started the couch to 5k plan before I got…

Healthy BMI!! :)
This morning I made it to the healthy BMI weight range! :noway: It's really hard to believe that I made it here. I still have a little ways to go before I'm at my final goal but today sure is a big day! One year ago today I was 195 and I've lost 40 pounds! I sure am glad I found MFP at the end of April cause without the…

Small (very small) success pic
I know I'm always the last one to see it or notice it but my sister tagged me in a photo on FB and my initial reaction, "oh my god, I'm fat". And then I realized that I had been working on it so I took a pic (just now) and posted it beside the other. OMG !!! - I was so excited. I get REALLY frustrated that I've only lost…

Early weigh in...
I started this 1200 calorie diet with daily exercise this monday and I couldn't help but get on the scale this morning and it said I lost 4.5 lbs! That's so crazy! Just goes to show how bad I was eating and the lack of exercise I was doing. Can't wait to see what it says on monday for my weekly weigh in :)

Made it through the day
I know it seems like a little thing but how often is it that the little things are the ones that count the most. I made it through both Pay day treats and a Teacher appreciation luncheon without spoiling my calories for the day. This isn't the part that made my day though. It was that I made it without hiding out in my…

12 hours of exercise this weekend COMPLETED!
my friend and I thought it would be "fun" to workout 12 hours this weekend, 6 hours both days. We thought it would be a challenge that we could see 1, how many calories we could burn, and 2, what our bodies could endure. We burned over 4700 calories in the two days, and our bodies endured the following : 2 hours of spin…

its the little things....

Starting Today -- With pic
Okay, I thought I was doing well, but thinking back to my eating habits, and my yo-yo exercising habits, I can see why I am at 201 lbs. Sooo... I'm gonna try to update this everyweek. It's hard to tell with different clothes on, so all the rest will be with the same type of clothes, i.e. my workout clothes. I hate that…

Ziggy The Cat and the Hershey's Special Dark Bar
Sounds like a fun book title doesn't it. So I bought this fella as a treat after doing so well during my first two weeks. I get back from my lunch break, enter my dinner into my diary and remember I have the bar. I look at the nutritional facts on the back of the bar and realize that the whole bar has more sugar (20g) than…

Finally...hit that 10 lb mark
It's been a long struggle, 2 months into it and I finally hit 10 lbs, actually 11! I know it's not much for some, but this is a HUGE accomplishment for me. I haven't seen the low 170's in probably 4-5 years. I'm so excited to see a 6 on that scale soon. I just had to post my happiness and share. The messge boards have been…

Not-so-successful story
I would like to celebrate my 20 pound loss victory, but I don't feel like I've made much progress. I feel better in my clothes, and I'm even able to wear normal sized boots (*not the wide kind I used to have to buy b/c the zipper wouldn't move over my fat calves). It's just that when I look in the mirror - or try to find…

P90X - Workout "move" success story
Would like to get feedback on those that are doing the P90X program that have been able to do a move that when started were not able to. For me it was Crane, when I first started and attempted it, felt like my wrist were going to shatter...now I can hold it for more than 30 seconds...on my 1st month of my second round of…

I needed a MED!
At the store yesterday with my hubby looking for some new lounge pants since my were literally falling off. I grabbed the larges thinking that was me and my wonderful husband said no way, you need a medium. I laughed thinking he was crazy but got them anyway and tried them on at home. To my surprise, the large was way too…

Lunch Time Small Victory
Having lunch with Mom today..she suggested Panera. I've spent 30 minutes planning what to order to not blow my day and I've done it. Chicken Cobb Salad, No cheese, no bacon and substituting the light buttermilk ranch for the high cal dressing they usually use (250 cals and not bad or carbs and fat at all!) . The…

My tiny victory
I've been sick all week and thus a little behind on the exercise, so I wasn't expecting much when I hopped on the scale today. I was beyond ecstatic when it said my weight has dropped to 249! I haven't weighed less than 250 since probably junior high! It's a tiny victory, but there aren't enough words to express how…

No way, for real ? Did I really ?
So...ladies and gentlemen, This morning I've finally ran the first 5k of my life. It was 5.6k in 38 minutes to be exact and I thought I didn't even make it to 4k. I'M SO HAPPY !!! Especially finals are coming and this just made my day. Now I have something good to think about while I bury myself in the library. I still…
