Weight of the Nation
I am interested in reactions to the HBO series Weight of the Nation that was developed in partnership with the Institute of Medicine (IOM), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). I have worked in the nutrition public health world (government) and this series was…

Milk, Peanut Butter & Nuts?
Three questions... I would greatly appreciate feedback on any or all of the three.... I like milk (and dairy overall) but I was thinking about switching to Almond Milk. Best I can tell it offers as much nutritional value as milk right but without as many calories? I'm reading more and more that dairy shouldn't be as big of…

Diet Tips that Never Worked For Me
For most of us here, this isn't our first ride on the merry-go-round of trying to lose weight and/or get fit. I wouldn't say anyone logged into MyFitnessPal and said, "Oh! You mean you eat less and exercise?? Wow, never heard that before." I've been overweight most of my life and there are some diet tips I have been told…

Chex Party Mix with half the butter/margarine?
would chex party mix be ok with half the butter? It says for a healthy twist to use half the butter. The mix with the things we like is 101 calories per serving. If I use half the butter it would be 76 calories per serving but I am worried that it will taste not as good. Any thoughts?

How much protein?
How much protein should I aim for a day? I'm 5 feet 2 inches, weigh 101 lbs. I am really trying to gain muscle but I feel like the problem is not getting enough protein. The past two days I've had around 100 grams but usually it's between 50-80 grams. I've started drinking a protein shake after work outs, which is what…

Do I need protein shakes?
When do you need protein shakes? I want to get into lifting weights so wasn't sure if I needed extra protein or how much. I am generally over the amount that MFP sets me. Plus I have a lot of weight to lose so is it possible to build muscle and strength while losing all the excess weight?

Accuracy in Food Items Database
I just joined last evening and did my first entry this morning. The results were a bit disappointing. The item in question was a Marie Callender's Chicken Pot Pie (OK, not an ideal food, but it's better than the fast food stuff I would normally eat.). Every entry in the database was wrong, at least in part due to the…

Best tasting high protein low carb protein drink
Just wanted to do a survey and find out what you all think is the best and most effective protein drink you use. Whether it is a post workout shake or used as a snack every now and again? I haven't found one I am comfortable with. It is either tasting good but too high in sugar, or high in protein but a bit nasty on the…

Raw Food 2013 *RESOLUTION!*
I have experimented with going 100% raw this past summer. It has benefited me in many ways other than the dramatic weightloss of 10 pounds and the gaining of muscle mass in only three weeks. It cleared my acne, reduced my cellulite, and just all in all made me feel better. Sadly, these are one of those diets you must start…
