Is 1000 calories per day safe?
Hi! I'm 59.40 kilos, my height is 5'4, and I usually do strength training 3x/week without cardio or anything else in between. I just calculated my TDEE using an online calculator and it said my TDEE was 1579. Is it correct that to lose weight, I have to deduct 500 from that making my daily caloric intake goal 1079? If it's…

Losing weight the wrong way, How to fix it?
I began my weight lost journey in the summer of 2016. I had been overweight and obese the majority of my life. At my heaviest I was 215 pounds. I began losing weight by simply lowering my calories and didn’t add exercise into my regime at all. I first lowered them to 1800 and in the first week I lost 5 pounds (Probably…

Anyone interested in becoming friends on my fitness pal
Hello all, I have started doing long bike rides and have fell in love with road biking. It would help me a bunch to see what others log that are also on my same level of activity to maybe get good nutrition ideas. If you are interested let me know.

Reduced food, increased exercise, but my weight went up not down?
Trying to figure out why my weight went UP 1.6 pounds last week when I thought it should be going DOWN. I need some help or advice on this. My primary dedicated exercise activities are walking outside and using an elliptical inside (very low impact, due to psoriatic arthritis and existing joint damage). I'm using a Fitbit…

Strength / lifting
I started my journey on April 12 2020, and I had a question for you all. I see a few people say they wish they strength trained / weight lifted from day 1 of their journey. Thoughts ? I feel like I want to do it. I see people saying it’s beneficial. Not sure where to start. Besides getting the time to google it lol. Any…

Sugar and Science Dilemma
So this is somewhat of a play of topics but I will present two scenarios. Subject A we will call bob. Subject B we will call Sam. They are both on a calorie DEFICIT but bob is only getting the minimum required of .8g protein per pound of bw and the rest of his calories are coming from PURE SUGAR. Sam on the other hand is…

Newbie gains vs crash dieting
Crash dieting is bad. While it leads to quick results, it doesn't build the good habits to turn a change in nutrition into a lasting lifestyle, making the quick results temporary. Newbie gains are quick results that stem from just starting and having a long way to go. You can lose a lot of weight quickly because it's a…

Dietary changes improve melasma?
I read somewhere that melasma is an outward manifestation of a hormone imbalance. I have also read that a gluten sensitivity (and sometimes a dairy sensitivity) is at play for many people with hormonal imbalance. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with melasma changing as a byproduct of changing their diet (I.e.,…

Hey all. I was just wondering if anyone ditched their scale or rarely use it . I know it’s a N important tool to monitor progress but I know there’s other people like me who are really hard on themselves when it comes to seeing a number on the scale. Fear holding me back
I've been overweight my whole life, I've lost and gained. I always give in after a while for some reason. But I think I've figured it out. I'm afraid to lose all the weight needed because I'm scared I'll fail and put it all back on again. Hopefully now that I've realised this I can sort myself out.

The metabolic rut
I’ve read and heard that if you eat the same things all the time that your body “gets used to it” and it causes a decrease in metabolism. First, is this true or based in truth? If so, how long does it take? For example, I have been making steel cut oatmeal in the crock pot for a couple weeks for breakfasts. I have a…
