Heart Rate Monitor Strap and Loose Skin
What do people think of this theory for a problem I have seen twice. I use a polar H10 chest strap to measure heart rate along with either the Vantage or an older M430 sometimes. The strap can also be picked up by an Precor open stride machine that I use a lot at the gym. Some months ago the strap started becoming…

Low Carb Diet and Fiber
I wasn't too keen on the idea of tracking net carbs. I couldn't understand how it's possible to eat a tortilla and a wrap on the same day and still be eating a low carb diet! My tortillas have 3g net carbs and my wraps have 4g net carbs. What I wanted to do is track total carbs and only get my carbs from vegetables and…

Can you still have a flat tummy eating carbs and sodium
On a day for my breakfast i eat oatmeal and banana for snacks a granola bar or coffee and for lunch i usually have penne pasta with meatballs sometimes with no use of oil in the pasta mostly a lot of seasoning. I also sometimes have yellow rice for lunch with tilapia fillet and some avacado some days. For dinner i usually…

So cold I feel like I might freeze to death!
White woman in my 40's living in the mid-west USA (winter here now). Lost ~75 pounds over the last 1-2 years (CICO) and am just this month able to say I am in the top of the normal BMI for my height and gender. Yay! I have been cold since about half way through my weight loss. I had my thyroid checked and it was normal.…

Just For the Hell of It....
Because of an earlier post by someone asking how to basically go from lots to naught, I decided to enter what would have been a pretty typical day of eating for me before I started counting calories. Mind you, I was being very conservative here, and it could have easily been a couple thousand more. I ALWAYS had something…

Does it ever end?
I successfully lost about 30 lbs two years ago and have managed to keep it somewhat in check. I seem to have trouble eating at maintanence and gain a few lbs back here and there, then I count again and lose them. Are there people who learn to eat and don’t track that can maintain their weight? I feel like when I’m counting…

I'm not sure what my goal weight should be
I thought my goal should be 135 lbs as that was my weight below and I had felt good about my body. My current weight is 185 lbs. But now I see 135 lbs is at the high end of a normal BMI, almost overweight for my height 5"2.7. I don't know know what to put my goal weight at. I don't know if I want to get any smaller than…

Starting again after weight gain. Shows zero loss. How do I fix?
I am back after a few years. I gained weight so now, even though I am losing weight, it says zero lost. Will it say that until I reach my weight I was at years ago?

Plateau
I’ve been at a plateau for about 4 months now. I want to lose about 10 more pounds but I just can’t seem to get past my plateau. Any tips? I eat about 1,300-1,400 calories a day and I do weight training 2x a week with lighter exercises between them.

Ibuprofen and water retention/weight gain
I have to take ibuprofen every once in awhile for aches and pains from fibromyalgia and IC and endo. When I do it seems my weight immediately goes up about three to five pounds. I have monitored what I am eating and I never have anything out of the ordinary and am right at my calorie level for MFP (set at 1200 right now).…

Bathroom Scales
Has anyone got a recommendation for a "smart" bathroom scale? I read that Weight Guru's scale syncs with MFP but wondering how well it really works. Thanks

weight loss is like the weather
It has occurred to me that this is a good way of understanding the oft used statement 'weight loss is not linear' From end of summer to middle of winter, weather gets progressively cooler. I'm sure nobody disagrees with that. But we don't expect every single day to be cooler than the one before - we just expect the trend…

Herbs
I have never been a naturalist... like an herbal remedies believer. But... I decided recently to give some a try being I'm battling an intense sweet tooth and huge appetite in the shadows of prediabetes and obesity. I must say, it's actually helping! My cravings have significantly reduced and I have more control! I went…

Increasing salt intake
Hi all, Ive recently been diagnosed with Neurally Mediated Hypotension (NMH) and have been advised by the diagnosing cardiologist that I need to increase salt (and fluids) in my diet, when I asked how much, I was told this was unlimited, the more the better. This condition is basically very low blood pressure from faulty…

Numbers of Calories per Day
I have a general question, and am looking for some advice.... MFP has set my Calories per day at 1950. I’m a 62 year old female, 5’10, 205 lbs. I’m lightly active, and I’ve set my goal to lose 1/2 lb per week. Mind you, I have been slacking quite a bit lately, and I’m trying to get back in the game. I think my calories are…

Motorbikes and fitness trackers
Hi all, I've recently started commuting on a motorbike. I wear a fitbit (charge 2) and I've noticed it's started telling me I've burnt significantly more calories in a day. This appear to be because my heart rate spikes massively when I'm riding, making my fitbit think I'm doing exercise. Now I know you do burn more…

How your eating has changed
I'm just nosy. :) I wonder what foods/drinks you eat now that you didn't before; are you obsessed with certain foods that you hardly touched before your healthy journey began? What things have you given up or now eat very moderately compared to before? I know we shouldn't feel we have to give up foods but let's face it. We…

Weighing an orange
I prefer to cut my oranges into eights and then eat the flesh out of the peel (rather than peel and eat the sections). For folks who do this, how do you weigh the orange? Before and after and subtract peel? Just count the peel? Does the USDA calorie count omit the peel? I am sick and craving oranges even though I haven’t…

intermittent fasting : eating from noon to 8pm
sorry if it's been asked a million times and also if it's a dumb question, but what is the deal with the 8pm cutoff. Is that just because it's logically noon to 8 as in the 8 hour window? I am usually in the gym during part of this window so I really don't know how I could even try it. Some nights I don't get home until…

Cheat meals
Hello to everyone, I would like to ask you what you think about the following question. In the last six months I have lost about 25 kg thanks to a combination of low-calorie diet and exercise (I run 6/8 km almost every day and I do 30 minutes of abs / weights). It seems to me that I have not lost muscle but almost only…

To Eat or Not To Eat
I started a new job that requires a lot of travel to rural areas. It's difficult and sometimes impossible to find restaurants that serve what we know today as healthy dinners. When given the options of eating fatty foods or no food at all, is better to eat or not to eat? I've been carrying extra protien bars with me but…

Motivational Podcasts
I’m sure there is a thread on this somewhere, but... I’m looking for some motivational podcasts; weight related or not. I’m lucky enough to have a gym at work and like to walk on my lunch break but I’m sick of listening to the same music. Also looking for just a bit motivation to “keep at it,” and further and all around…

Terrible itching!!
My sister has been driven insane with constant itching for the past couple of weeks. At first she attributed it to dryness or wood heat but claims it's never this bad. I get dry itchy skin too, during the winter but not constant all-over like it's bothering her. So I went to the mayo online site and found out it could be a…
