Why doesn't myfitnesspal limit the choices for wright loss goal?
Why does myfitnesspal limit the goal choices for weight loss? I do great job if I aim for losing 1lb per month. Faster weight loss leads me to failure.

Dealing with a weekend of overeating
Hi all, I'm currently maintaining my weight at around 128-129 lbs (I'm 5'8") and trying to recomp lifting 3 times per week. I was at a wedding this weekend and had a LOT to eat and drink. Ballpark estimate of 8000-10000 calories over Saturday and Sunday. My TDEE is around 2400 calories and I ate at pretty much bang on…

Do you think this is a decent idea? Or just plain unnecessary.
I have a 5 pound range that is my true goal to land in and maintain, which is not horribly far off. But I set my MFP goal weight for three pounds less than the low end of that range so that when I start on maintenance if I put on a few pounds of water weight, it sends me into my REAL goal range rather than right back out…

When I try and hit calories I'm going over on fat / protein/ carbs/sugar and still under calories by a few hundred. Am I being too strict by what I eat and should I be…

Suggestions for someone thinking about maintaining?
I think I am at the weight I want to be, I just want to gain more muscle and become stronger. After trying to lose for so long, I feel that maintenance is going to be really weird! Any tips? I heard maintaining is more difficult.

Miss the challenge and feeling of accomplishment?
About a year ago I started the 5:2 diet and lost 40 pounds. I hit my goal a few months ago and have been maintaining, but struggling. Will binge for a week, then get back on the diet for a week or two, then binge again. At first I thought it was due to boredom, so I tried new recipes. I tried taking a break from counting…

My BMR
Hi! Hopefully someone knows the answer to this question. I remember that my fitness pal used to show you what they estimated your base metabolic rate to be when you set your activity level. I can't seem to find it anymore. Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Self-congratulatory post - successfully maintained through a holiday!
Just come back from 2 weeks away have only put on 1lb, and that may just be water weight - I have small weekly weight fluctuations during maintenance. For the first time I kept up my logging while away. We were in the mountains, hiking every day. I earned 800-1,800 cals per day and ate the lot. So. Much. Food. It…

Help?
Okay so I've changed my goal to maintain. Now up in the corner of my page it now says gained instead of how much I've lost is this right? Also I weigh 126lbs so should I be taking in 126grams of protein? When I set my macros and put my protein to as close as my weight as possible it's leaving me no option but to either…

Avoiding initial maintaining "gain" with dense foods?
Happy summer everyone, So I know everyone says that in the process of increasing calories and reverse dieting, that one always gains some initial weight. And that they lose it after a week or so, plus more if they haven't been eating their actual tdee. I was wondering if the bloat and gain come just from an increased…

Switching to maintenance calories, weight gain?
I've been on MFP for over a year, and during that time have continually had my calories set to lose 1.5 lbs/week - which worked out to be around 1510 calories/day toward the end. (I'm 5'10", 183 lbs) My end goal was 175, but I'd be fine to maintain around 180. While eating at 1500 calories I stopped losing weight the last…

Why do I see body builders eating less than me?
I am very underweight right now. I lost my brother 6 months ago and lost weight. I am not about 20lbs underweight and have been trying to gain for a few months. I have been eating 1900-2100 a day. (1900 on days I just am not hungry at all) Yes I am using a food scale and I weight and measure everything accurately. I eat…

Medications that cause weight gain?
So I know weight loss/gain is all about CICO, so when medications list "weight gain" as a side effect why is that? Do they increase appetite, or make you retain water or something?

Peoples opinions and what they do?
okay the losing weight part .. Easy.. Now the next part maintaining calories. So I have heard sooo many things from different people. Some say oh eat back the calories you exercise. Some say no don't. Some say they eat less on non workout days some say to eat more ( I think this is like a surplus to gain more muscle maybe)…

Calories in/out question
I'm looking to maintain weight during my 16-week race training program. I'll be slowly increasing my calories up as the 16 weeks progress for the marathon. I had a calories in/out question. I know how much I'll be burning from my running (safe estimates based on miles/week). MFP recommends at my height, gender, weight,…

Preparing for maintenance ahead of time
Hi everyone. In April I decided enough of my sulking, excuse-driven life and started making healthy changes. I am not a dieter and knew that my bad habits were making me sick, and obese. For the first 25 years of my life I was fairly thin. Had kids, got depressed, lazy...anyhow, I'm still 50-60 lbs from goal weight but I…

Is this true?
okay so I hear that on recomp you can cycle your calories. On weightlifting days to increase maintenance calories by .15% and on rest days decrease maintenance calories by .10%. Increase them on lifting days to build muscle. Anyone else heard of this or know wether it's effective?
