Building My Pyramid
I haven't been able to do it lately. I have purchased the veggies, the low-fat ground beef/turkey, the chicken. I have removed the bad, sugar-filled garbage from the pantry. I have my exercise tools laid out, my walking routes planned for 1,2, and 3-mile walk/runs. I have the desire and understanding of the science behind…

Moms unite!
Hey y’all! My name is Carrie, and I’m a mom of an amazing 5 year old that keeps me moving! I’m looking for anyone who wants to be a part of a group to motivate others to continue pushing forward! I’ve done Mfp before and had success going from 180lbs to 149. Then I let my guard down and (thanks covid lockdowns) have…

Wore shorts yesterday... for the first time in 15 years!
By glance, I am not overweight and yet for the longest time, I have had the crippling fear of wearing shorts out of fear that someone would look at me and think that I have no business showing my legs in public. Yesterday however despite not being where I want to be physically I said F it! It's too damn hot to be…

Dealing with negative family
Anyone dealing with or dealt with constant negative comments from family? (Usually older ones) Everytime I get 'you look ill' 'dont get too skinny' and lo and behold when I joined a gym 'dont get all muscly' 'How your diet going' 'Oh I wont offer you a biscuit you're slimming' I can laugh most things off but its getting…

Injured and struggling to stay motivated
I knew the day was coming, and it's finally arrived. After years of athletics and being in the military I stopped working out as consistently as I had in the past. Recently, my wife and I welcomed out little girl to the family and it's motivated me to starting working out consistently again. Well, after a couple weeks of…

Been a long time
I used MFP years ago to lose weight. I think from when I started MFP to my lightest (212) I had lost ~140lbs from my heaviest I assume 200+ (best guess is I was around 425). The last several years my weight has been creeping back up. I am now sitting at nearly 270. It is very disappointing to see the scale at that number.…

Hey!! Just getting started on MFPal because of Pre-diabetes
6 yrs ago, I was at my ideal weight. I used MGPal for 12 months and lost 40 lbs so I could look good at my daughters wedding. I slowly gained some weight with a couple years, but no more than 10 lbs. Some daily motivation for you
Hello there! Hope everyone is having a great weekend and crushing those fitness goals! A phrase I keep repeating to myself whenever I work out is this: "You only get out of this what you put into it." It's helped me push through some of the toughest workouts I've tried yet! What's something you repeat to yourself to get…

Back in the groove.........
Back on the diet again. I really flubbed up for two weeks. Back on board. Working in the yard today. Push mowing around the flowers and tight places in my yard. That ought to be good exercise, right?

The struggle is real!
I’ve struggled with weight since I was in my teens. After overcoming an eating disorder, and discovering a love of food, I had a few years where I felt like I had conquered this whole area. Unfortunately, as life became difficult with losses and other challengers, I found myself using food to comfort. Determined not to…

Scared to get on those scales...!
First of all, I am 100% grateful that I have escaped this pandemic (so far) unscathed and I have not had Covid or lost anyone to it or lost my job (touch wood-so far). Lots of gratitude. But the past couple of years of struggles with mental health and lockdowns have really taken their toll on my health and I am now the…

Noticed my yoyo pattern
So whenever I try to lose weight, I've noticed I yoyo quite a bit. This app also helps me keep track of my gains and loss. Now I've been told that I'd go crazy weighing myself every day. But I don't feel that way. I'd watch the scale go up and down. The peak of my weight though has been steadily declining thankfully even…

Not seeing any results after almost a month! Getting frustrated!
I have reached a point where I feel extremely disheartened. I'm trying my best to get rid of lingering body fat, especially belly fat, and I just have not been seeing much results. Ive been doing pretty much everything right, watching my portion sizes, tracking my calories, strength training, eating adequate protein, and…

Tracking weight loss
Probably an old question... so that would make it an easy answer?? Tracking your weight loss, is it better to stick with your weight from the beginning or to modify and track from your highest weight if your weight increased after the start? Example: Started the journey on Jan 1st. Jan 1st weight was 200, Jan 22nd it was…

How do I convince my brain to lose weight?
I know that I need to lose weight. I know how to lose weight. But for some reason my brain just doesn't get it. I seem to be constantly thinking about what I can eat and how I can go out and buy junk food. I feel terrible eating it and tell myself it needs to stop, but then the next day I'm the same. I saw myself on the…

Accountability friends
Hello! I’m Emily! I have been battling weight for a long time. I go back and forth with being consistent and having no motivation. I was hoping someone felt the same way and we can keep each other motivated to want to work out/eat healthy and stay consistent!!

Can I do this without Surgery?
Hi Everyone, I'm sure a lot of people here can relate to this but here's my story. I lost 85 pounds when I was in my early 20s and through the course of my mid-late 20s I put it all back on. Now since hitting 30 I've plateaued at 290 - higher than I've ever been - and I cant seem to make my weight budge. I'll do super…

Weight loss apathy
Hey everyone. Since I’ve joined and started taking a more proactive approach to my health like, 40 days ago, I’ve lost 12 pounds. The doctor told me that’s a pretty good thing. The thing is, I feel nothing. I don’t feel different, my clothes don’t feel different, but the biggest thing is emotionally. I’m not happy for…
