A what point does the rate of weight loss slow down? 5,10 or 20lbs to your goal?
I'm curious if it varies based on your body shape and not necessarily how much pounds you have to lose. I still have to lose 17.5lbs to reach my normal BMI, but my rate of loss has decreased. Based on the threads I've been reading I assumed it's 10lbs remaining. I'm not sure why my rate of loss slowed since I still have…

145 Pounds Lost since January 3rd
On January 1st of this year, I committed (for the second time) to get this weight off. The last time I tried, back in 2012, I managed to lose 116 pounds before a physical ailment derailed my progress and drove me to the brink of suicide. Needless to say, I made it past the ailment, but I never found my motivation to start…

Anyone successfully help a spouse / significant other lose weight?
Maybe the answer is that you can't influence someone else's weight loss, but does anyone else have success stories in helping a spouse or significant other lose weight? DH has been advised by a doctor to lose weight. He tried low carb for a month, but didn't stay strict with it. In the 10-15 years before that, both his…

Here's my story (its long but for any girl who has ever been dumped for their weight, this is for us.) 3 months ago, I was 'dumped' by a guy I really liked and clicked with for several months. He very unexpectedly text me one day that he "kinda sorta started seeing someone else that maybe could get more serious". His…

Still fat, but feel GREAT!
I decided to post this in the Success section even though I haven't lost much weight because it is a personal win. My primary goal is weight-loss, but I want to do it by improving my fitness and eating habits and want to feel strong and not in pain. Anyway. I find that when I work out for a period of time, I end up loving…

High carb low fat success?
I hear about low carb all the time now but I never really see high carb low fat lifestyle on here and on other sites anymore. I can't seem to limit my carb content. I tried for a week one time and although I lost 10lbs in that week, I couldn't keep up with it. I missed my brown rice, sweet potatoes and fruits. So has…

Getting skin surgery after 140 lb loss
Hi!! I used mfp to lose my weight. 140 lbs, in 8 days, I'm scheduled for a tummy tuck to get rid of my excess skin. 48 pounds lost
I started by signing myself up for a spartan race that was 7 months away and used that to push myself each week to go to the gym and eat healthy. I started Jan 2017 at 270 pounds and am now sitting at 222 pounds. My race is a couple weeks away and am excited to do it and set my self up for other races after it. One thing I…

What a ride it's been!
Here I am, sipping on a green smoothie, realizing that I have freaking done it! I'm in my maintenance range. This life isn't over and I don't go back to eating 6 big meals a day, but the 17+ years since I kissed my wife at midnight of New Year's Day Y2K and realized "I'm alive and my family has equipped me with the…

"Call on Me"-An ode to the disaffected
When I was at the gym this morning finishing up my routine, a song hit my pandora that I had not heard in years and gave me an opportunity for reflection of a not so distant past that I felt the need to share with all of you. To give you some contextual basis, I grew up and spent the majority of my adolescence and young…

Vacation surprise!
I just got back from my week long vacation this afternoon. I pretty much ate what I wanted the entire time including ice cream sundaes, pizza, candy, etc. but I worked out every day pretty much doing the same routine I do at home though I had to improvise some. And I continued to track everything. I went over my caloric…

Down 46lbs and at my best
6' 1" male. Down 46 lbs in about 18 months. Originally just focused on food intake and cut my calories per day down to 1700. Then when a decent amount of fat was gone (about 30 lbs) I increased cals back up to 2100 with 1 gram of protein daily per lb of body weight. I began to focus more on composition than weight. While…
