I roasted my nuts....
and they were delicious. Faced with a boring snack of 1 oz. of pecans, I decided to try roasting them dry on a baking sheet at 350 for 6 min. and it made them taste so much better. I suggest you try roasting your nuts, too!

vegetarian trying to gain weight - looking for friends
I need to gain weight! about 15 lbs. I set my profile up to gain 1 lb/wk and it say to eat around 1800 calories. Anyone in the same boat? I love eating clean and I am pretty close to vegan but I am not going to even think about the vegan transition until I'm at a healthy weight. Any vegans/vegetarians that can/are willing…

Calorie Question. Work Out Day vs Rest Day
Hello. :D I currently eat about 1700 calories per day on the days that I exercise. I figured this number up by using TurboFire's "Fueling the Fire" book. I take one rest day per week. On my rest day should I still aim for 1700 or do I need to stay around 1500? The 1500 is my Resting Metabolic Rate + my Daily Activity Burn…

What do you do when you are hungry all of the time??
At my current job I work almost 11 hours Monday-Friday, I am there 7:30am-6:00pm. I find that on weekends I am totally fine with my calorie goal (which is 1500, plus I'll eat exercise calories) and have 3 meals a day with a couple of snacks. But on the weekdays, it feels like such a long day, I get really hungry and I…

Sparkling water instead of still water?
Is it ok to drink sparkling/carbonated water instead of still to fulfill my daily water needs? I'm not a huge fan of drinking anything so it is SO hard for me to drink enough water during the day. I replaced what little bit of soda and/or diet soda I drink with sparkling and have now gotten addicted to the bubbly!…

Strangest snack?
This morning when I was packing my lunch bag for work, I suddenly got a hankering for a snack that seemed really odd to me at first (1/2 cup of toasted onion and chive flavored cottage cheese, with two baby portabella mushrooms sliced up in it), but I went with it, and am SO glad I did, because it was delicious! What…

Zevia
One of the hardest things for me to quit when I made the choice to eat healthier and lose weight was Diet Coke. But I recently discovered Zevia, which is supposed to be a "healthy" alternative to diet sodas. Does anyone have any information about it Zevia and the sweetener Stevia? Is there anything harmful about this type…

I keep hearing that it's awesome but not quite sure why. And yes, I do realize I can Google it, but I wanted to get opinions and replies from those who…

READ YOUR LABELS! Know what you're eating!
Even though I know better, do you know to this day that if something is labeled "healthy", I automatically pick it up and think "woo hoo! Found a great new food!"......until I read the ingredient list on the label? More times than not, I end up putting back the so-called "food" or even "frankenfood", dejected, and yet…

BMR and calorie intake
So, here's my question....when I calculate my BMR, I come up with about 2,620 calories used per day just to keep me alive. I have my calorie intake set at 1650. I don't necessarily eat back exercise calories, only if I am hungry for them. But let's say for example that I eat 1400 calories one day -- does that mean I have a…

Favorite Breakfast Food?
Hi! Looking for some more buddies to connect with on MyFitnessPal. I've been an MFP member for about a year new with some success, but need to get serious! :) My biggest downfall seems to be breakfast. I am NOT a morning person. I need a quick, easy breakfast that I can (ideally), heat up at work in the microwave or eat…

Cheap healthy cooking for my meat & potatoes man...
Help! I am currently a stay at home mom with a 4 month old. I've never been all that talented in the kitchen but I want to learn how to cook fairly simple, healthy, inexpensive meals for my family. Inaccuracies in food database, what to do?
What do you guys do when you come across an entry in the food database that you think is inaccurate? I'm wondering because I've come up with a few options, but I'm trying to decide which would be best. I'm fairly anal when it comes to my food diary, so I always double check the nutritional data in the pre-existing entries…

Fresh fruit and vegies - I get no variety
I just had an interesting conversation at work about fruit we eat and I was very suprised at how little variety I get. I am a 40 yr old female who ate blackberries for the first time yesterday (BTW they were very yummy). My work collegues were naming fruits and vegies and I think I only have had about 5% of what was named.…

I Have Concluded...
from reading endless material on various diets and studies, including Paleo, Atkins, engine 2, vegan, primal, south beach etc etc, that maybe the best thing to do is to simply eat everything in moderation, and avoiding eating an excess of anything. I think looking at the Engine 2 diet book today was the final straw, so to…

answer to Paleo Diet?
The Paleo Diet is usually meat centric, allowing for only 23% of carbs(with some variations allowing more). And I was reading about it on the forum along with other low carb variations - there are so many advocates of low carb diets now that it is hard to ignore/disregard it, so I have been studying and thinking about it.…
