Fage 0% Wonder food!
Okay I know there are those who have already sang its praises so I will be brief. I just had it for breakfast with Blackberries stirred in, I sweetened it with a bit of a sugar substitute and had a 136 calorie breakfast! I am really full and the pure protein will give me a great boost. Thick and creamy texture, nothing…

Trader Joes
So I am going to make the 40 minute trip up to the nearest TJ's and I'd love to hear from others what they "always" get there. Obviously the yogurt. Currently, I am buying Stoneyfield's Greek version in individual containers for $1.58 each at my local WM. That is one of my main motivations for going. It's killing me!!! I…

calculating nutrition information on homemade items
Help-I like to make a lot of my food from scratch, but then have no idea what the calories would be for 1 piece of, for example, meatloaf. I also make my own meatballs from a mix of beef and pork and I wouldn't know where to start for the nutritional value of those either, or for the oatmeal cookies I just made and…

Hey newbies! Are you hungry?
I usually eat lots of raw veggies, lean meat, eggs, cheese, some processed salad dressings, but not too much. I eat between 1200-1400 calories a day, try to stay under 100 carbs, eat some of my exercise calories. (an hour a day for 350-900 calories, depending) It's been fairly successful for me so far. 17 pounds…

What if It's All Been a Big Fat Lie? -NY Times
NY Times- July 2002 Read this article by Gary Taubes of the New York Times exposing some of the background to the current faulty approach to basic nutrition all over the world. The so-called "food pyramid" is universally recognized as a guideline for what to eat. Yet it recommends large quantities of carbohydrates to be…

Master your Metabolism
Has anyone else read this? I am really enjoying it and although some of it is tough to hear I do agree with much of what I'm reading. It just simply makes sense. That being said...EEK!!! I knew I needed to make a lot of changes, but not kidding when I say, if I went through my cupboards and refrigerator and threw away…

It gave a site to recheck any info. :glasses: at "Project Happily Ever After.com" in case you want more research. I have not as of yet been to the site.…

I think I made a weighing boo-boo
Soo, I have a sinking feeling. I got some quinoa from my school cafeteria. Since I was eating my room (glugh, term paper), I weighed the quinoa. Calorie King told me the calories for cooked quinoa--100 grams. I put it into MFP and got the count again. I was STOKED because it was a lot lower than I thought--and quite a bit…

Strawberries...
Is is bad that I just ate 3 cups of sliced strawberries??? I LOVE LOVE LOVE them, but am EXTREMELY picky about the ones I'll eat. They have to be perfect, and it's only during this time of year that I can find ones I'll eat!

What do y'all eat for breakfast?
Okay, so I know breakfast is generally supposed to be the biggest meal of the day, right? Well, the thing is I never find any goood breakfast food to eat in the morning.. and like, the most common breakfast foods are pancakes with syrup or bacon and basically unhealthy things even though, WOW that sounds good haha.…

If it sounds too good to be true...
It probably is. I just got back from the grocery store. While there, I took a little detour through the bakery section, and I saw the cutest, tiniest mini carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. I picked them up to look at the nutritional information, and was surprised to see that three of the mini cupcakes were…

This might seem a bit obsessive but..
I am really bad about guessing the portion sizes and really really bad when I am in a hurry. Today I went to Gordon's and got some of those 2 oz plastic cup containers with the lids. I measured out 1 oz of my cashew butter, dressing, croutons for my salad, nuts, and french fried onions (love those things, can't give them…

Protein and Sodium
I was advised by you guys here at MFP to dump some of my carbs and eat more protein. I think this is a good idea, especially since along with my running and basketball, I am lifting 4 days a week and really trying to push myself. So, I tried it out about two days at the beginning of last week. I felt AWWWWFUL. I know it…

Losing Body Fat
Hi! My goal is to lose weight, but I am really focusing on reducing my body fat. I have heard several differerent methods as to how best to lose BF, but I'm still confused. If I just eat healthier and exercise will it come off naturally or do I have to focus on eating really low fat? Are there food groups I need to cut out…

Confusion on eggs...
I noticed when I use the data base, 1 large raw egg is 74 cal, 5 fat, and 70 sodium. 1 large fried egg is 92 cal, 7 fat, and 94 sodium. I cook them in a fat free cooking spray, and was just confused by the difference.

Colds and eating....
I have managed somehow to contract a cold. Grrr...!!! I have abandoned any pretense of staying within various calorie levels, though (not eating junk - my body couldn't stand that I'm pleased to say). Is that what I should do when ill? I'm feeling really cruddy. It's not a very bad cold, as yet (just the first day today).…

kick the habit! Say "no" to diet coke challenge
So I just finished reading all the responses to Amy's post in Weight Loss and Dieting about drinking diet coke (below) and it sounds like there may be enough folks interested in starting a thread for breaking the diet soda addiction. I'm inspired from all the responses to give this a serious shot! I drink several 12 oz.…

Another Egg Question :)
I am far from a gourmet, so...how do you seperate out the egg yolk to get just egg whites? I am trying to save $$ by not buying egg beaters, and not get all the calories of a whole egg. TIA :)

Low fat on a budget

pink lemonade

Subway
I can't get over how unhealthy subway can be. I had a sweet onion chicken teriyaki with onion and some cheese it kills me in calories and in sodium. I would have been better off making my own sandwich. I can't go there and not have cheese on my sandwich. But I do love there ham and turkey sub. I guess I'm a little shocked…

1200 measily calories?!?
I don't mean to call anyone out or anything, but how can you have trouble eating enough to get to 1200 calories? I don't have any problems getting to my 1500 allotted calories (although it's really 1800 because of breastfeeding). I just don't get it. Am I alone here?

IDEAL
I have a sweet tooth that's out of this world, and I was looking for new ways to satisfy my sweet tooth without adding a lot of calories. I tried a product called "Ideal"--it's a sugar made from xylitol that's naturally made in our bodies, and it's great! I have baked cookies and made my kids Kool Aid with it, and they…

Stupid birthdays!
CEO at our company just had his birthday today, so of course there was cake and ice cream. Which of course I had a small piece of cake, and a dixie cup of ice cream. It was awesome! However, even though I woke up and ran I feel like I need to do more. But of course I'm going to be in my car the rest of the day and won't…
