Frustrated but determined!!
Hello MFP folks! I have been overweight for a good 20 years if I'm going to be honest with myself. I have lost and gained the same 30 lbs so many times! I'm over it! I feel as though my mind is finally in the right place. I am tired of not liking the way I look when I walk by a mirror. So on June 12th, I started for the…

Waist-hip ratio and fat distribution - does it matter?
I'm curious... I've always carried a lot of weight around my midriff- I'm the quintessential apple shape. I guess genetics plays a role in fat distribution. Having lost 36kg, I've reduced my BMI from 41 to 25.2, so I'm on the cusp of a 'normal' BMI. However, I still have lots of fat around my midriff. Not just loose…

Seeking answers…
I started MFP 2 weeks ago after being a on vacation for 3 weeks. I am determined to be very aggressive for a few weeks then taper back. My beginning weight was 235 pounds and I’m 65 years old. My starting plan is 1,000 calories a day. 35 protein, 35 carbs, and 30 fat. I typically walk 2 miles 3-4 times a week. I logged…

Tired hip
Hi all! I'm Jerry, a 55-year-old man who has a very physical job. I'm 100lbs. overweight. 8 months ago, my left hip was bothering me for a few days. A pain I am not used to. While working one morning I had to stop because the pain became unbearable. My job entails walking a lot, bending, getting in and out of a delivery…

What does fat feel like under your skin?
If you poke around on fat on a limb does it feel like zig-zag ramen noodles? (in terms of texture) or a bunch of teeny tiny 3 mm-diameter fish eggs?

Should I spin everyday to lose weight?
I've been spinning three times per week for an hour with a goal of 300cal/h but haven't seen any results yet (I've rolled 2700km). So, I plan to do this every day to see if anything changes. Is there any risk to my health from doing this?

Confused 🤪
Hiya I’m back again and this time I want to succeed and finally lose all the weight and be fit again. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been and have 84lbs to lose. The problem I have is I’ve been dieting for nearly 22yrs now and I’ve been on every diet going, so my head is a mess and I don’t know which way is up. I’m calorie…

Objective way to find ideal weight range?
Hello. I’m probably obsessing about this too much and I’d like to stop. Quick history - 57, 5’3 - lost 30 pounds (142-112) during last year and a half. Was eating about 1250 calories. Goal was 125 but kept going. Shrugged off the “you look sickly” comments as I felt ok, looked good, and proud of myself. Slowly gained to…

Still plugging along
Hi, since 8/9/2021 I’ve been using mfp.. . I started at 262. I’m now at 225. I don’t weigh myself cause then I would get anxious. I hated WW because you had to weigh every week. I see docs often so I’m always surprised to have lost more weight. I think I would rather feel it than see the numbers. I record every day, walk…

Rapid Weight Loss, Slowed Metabolism--Any Counter-evidence
Hi! I read that the Biggest Loser contestants have permanently slowed metabolisms because they lost the weight too quickly. I read someone's comment that the contestants had probably started working out heavily again just before the research weigh-in, which would mean the metabolic slowing had reoccurred but wasn't…

Summer = easy weight loss!
Why is January the most popular time of the year for losing weight? Out of all 12 months of the year, January is the worst! It's the time of year when I eat the most and exercise the least. In contrast, it's summer now. This is the most wonderful time of the year for losing weight! Heat is the best appetite suppressant of…

I need exercise help please!!
Ok so I’m kind of a hot mess. I found out 5 months ago that I am now diabetic which was a real kick in the head. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t blind to the fact that I was gaining weight but I haven’t been in a good place in my head for the last couple of years. 3 years ago I was diagnosed with seronegative inflammatory…

Weird weight fluctuations, why???
I've been super strict on tracking everything and yes I did eat too many carbs yesterday. However I'm consistently in a calorie deficit staying at the 1200 calorie mark for food intake, and yesterday I burnt pretty much everything I ate through exercise. So why do I wake up 2 pounds heavier than the previous day?

Who's losing weight and breastfeeding?
I initially lost about 7kg and have 15kg to get to my goal weight of 65kg. I've been watching going hard the last 4 weeks eating 1500, my BMR is 2300 with exercise 7 days a week. My fitbit has my TDEE as 3000ish so I should have lost a kg a week with the exercise and deficit combined but I did a weigh in 4 weeks since…

Last ten pounds are tough
I started at around 230lbs and now down to 209lbs and been stuck here for three weeks. My goal is 200/205. I been eating same amount of calories and added some exercise too. At the beginning I was losing 3/4lbs a week and now seems I am maintaining weight but didn’t change anything. Total time of life change is 9 weeks.…

Should I maintain my weight or is it ok to lose more?
I’m a 5’4 female, and I just started using my fitness pal. I was 135 pounds in April, and I’m 120 now. I’m still rather chubby looking, but I’m not sure what a good weight for my height and age is (I’m 18)
