Getting more Light
Lately I cannot blame the lack of light I am getting and the cold weather for my mocha and mocha coffee chip urges I give in to, but I can try. Feedback? What is good exercise in the Winter?

What's going on? My Left Calf is 2" Larger Than the Right.
Hello lovely folks of MFP! I was hoping to get your input on this kind of strange thing that is happening to my leg. Has this happening to you or someone you know? What was the cause of it and outcome? * My left calf is now 2" larger in circumference than my right calf, and I think it's slowly getting larger (last year it…

Re: Remaining Calories math
The remaining calories in a day does not equate to the remaining carbs+fats+Proteins. When I multiply remaining carbs*4+fats*9+proteins*4 the number exceeds the daily remaining calories. Any pointers on why the math is not adding up?

Cardio only burns calories?
I was on Youtube and stumbled onto an ad that I watched part of. Once I realized it was to sell supplements I clicked out of it but before I did the spokesperson made the statement "Cardio burns calories, not fat". What does that even mean? Was he saying that doing cardio doesn't put you in fat burning mode? I didn't keep…

Disabled
I have actually been on MFP for over a year straight now. I just have never gotten onto the community. I am in my 50s and I have a disease called Charcot Marie tooth disease. No it does not have anything to do with teeth. It is a neuromuscular disease. (With CMT the nerves and thin muscles atrophy and you do not get it…

How much protein is enough?
I’m 150lb trying to lose 20lb through calorie counting. Looking into protein powder/shakes. I have yet to find one I liked and in the past have found myself forcing myself to sip it. How much protein should I try to get per day, and any recommendation for a good protein shake or supplement?

Prostate Cancer, Hormone Therapy and Weight
I'm currently having Hormone Therapy for Prostate Cancer and trying to lose some weight. I originally let MFP set my daily calorie allowance, but I've been struggling to see any weight loss. I've now decided to manually set my daily allowance to 1320, down from 1520 MFP suggested, a small difference I know, but I hope it…

How do you handle your haters?
What do you do about your Haters (people who talk about you behind your back & act jealous of your weight loss success, because they simply don't have the motivation or will power to do it themselves? I take their Negativity & use it for my Motivation to shove my success in their face!

Activity level
Hello I was wondering if anyone could help me determine my activity level? I don't want to choose the wrong one and end up with the wrong amount of calories. At the moment I have it as lightly active. My job is a personal shopper, so I spend 7 hours (Minus breaks) running around a large grocery/department store, and when…

Only have carpet for scales!
Hi all, I just need some advice! We’ve just moved house and there isn’t one surface which gives me an accurate reading! We either have carpet, textured tiles which make the scale rock or Lino which causes really inaccurate readings (nearly two stone less!) Is there a way to offset the carpet issue because I don’t think…

Weight loss , fat vs water vs muscle
Obviously when we are aiming to lose weight, what we are really hoping for is to lose fat. From what I understand, as the number on the scale goes down, it will inevitably include some water and muscle loss as well. Now there are things one can do to lessen the % of muscle lost like getting enough protein and following a…

Binge Eating
Hello all. I know that there are many links to this type of subject with detailed advice on how to overcome it. But I was wondering if anyone here is or was like I am...eating the bare minimum during the day and then eating all the good stuff and bad stuff later on. What did you do overcome this habit??

A calorie counting question

So i had the thought and i wondered if it could apply. What if i ate 450 cal under? surely that would balance out right? or if i try to aim for that much calorie…

Less sugar = hungry?
Has anyone ever lowered their added sugar intake and wound up more hungry for it? I've tried adding more protein, but I still have this little pang in the pit of my stomach. It makes it so that regular sized meals don't feel like they did as much for me as they used to. It's been almost a week. Is this actual hunger or is…

Need Advice on Body Recomposition: I Can't Lose Body Fat and Gain Muscle - What am I Doing Wrong?
Hello all! Let me just start this by telling you a bit about my health and fitness journey so far. I was 210 lbs at 5ft 6in and thanks to MFL, Fitbit, and Beachbody On Demand workouts (not a coach... I hate MLM) I'm now about 130lbs. (I did get down to 124, but I can't seem to get back.) Regardless... I have some loose…

Hello, I just hit my 10 pounds lost mark and I can't tell a difference in my body. I didn't take pictures of before and I wish I would have. Is this normal with your first 10? Nervous About Increased Calorie Budget
Since October 2021, I've lost nearly 25 pounds. Two of those pounds were lost in the last week. I read here a lot and I suspect I'm not eating enough even though I don't ever feel starved. I only have 15ish pounds to go, so this morning, I upped my calories by 100 because I'd rather be losing between 1/2 and 3/4 of a pound…

It's okay to go off your diet once in a while.
This is the hardest part of self love I struggle with, but I'm getting there. Just gotta remember it's "okay" to live a little and over eat once in a while without beating myself up. The majority of our actions are what make us what we are, not the things we do on occasion. Just gotta be kind to yourself. When you've been…

Feeling gutted and discouraged
It’s been a long hell of a week. I’ve tried very hard to not stress, breathe, count to 10 and all that malarkey but the long and short of it is I’ve eaten the fridge, my weight in chocolate and drank hardly any water - so now imagine how much more eating I’ve really done since I’m literally always hungry. Every day I’ve…

Do alcohol calories work differently?
Before everyone jumps in, I know that a calorie is a calorie is a calorie, and when logging, I treat alcohol calories like any other calories. My maintenance calories are around 2100 calories a day (I'm a 49 year old woman and I weigh 120 pounds, am very active, and have been in maintenance for a few years). But I do find…

You don't have to do it well, or 'correctly' - you just need to DO IT.
Time and again I see long term posters hammering on using a food scale, picking the right entries, being as accurate as you possibly can. I don't disagree with them. These are good things to do and will help you have the most predictable results - and if you're hitting a stall (of more than 6 weeks) these are the places…

Cheat day, cheat meal or none
Curious as to what other people do / prefer. My own preference is a "cheat meal" a week, although I don't really refer to it as cheating, more like a moment of sweet satisfaction, properly planned and accounted for. (This week I'm having a slice of cake for dessert on Friday)
