Long term maintainers (like me): advice on why I am where I am
OK, this will be TMI, but I am hoping that long-time maintainers can sort through it and help me to figure it out. I am 3 years into maintenance, which has been relatively easy for me. I have a 2 lb. range b/c I am only 5'0" and a larger range is too much, and that range works well. I have been in that range for the whole…

Why Am I Gaining Weight on this Meal Plan? I want to maintain.
Hi. I am 19 and 5'5 and 118 pounds. I would like to maintain this weight. I have crash dieted over the years, and I am trying to find my body's "set point." Before reading this, it is important to note that I am sedentary (desk job during the summer and don't take anytime to exercise). I increased from 1200 calories to…

Help with Maintenance
Hello. I have been struggling with anorexia nervosa for the past 6 years. I am recognizing that I can no longer live like this, and I am making a change by committing to eat 1500/1600 calories everyday. I currently eat around 1050 calories, but maintained on 1200 in the past. I am 5'5, 19 years old, and 114 pounds. I would…

How accurate is you activity tracker?
I ask this question for those in maintenance, because I assume you have a pretty good idea of what your TDEE is if you have been in maintenance for a while. I recently upgraded my Garmin to a model with a daily activity tracker, my first, and I am finding it to be a bit out of line with my own calculations regarding…

How do you do maintenance/recomp?
I'm not far off from shifting my focus from bulk/cut cycles (or more accurately, caring/not caring cycles) to a longer term recomp. I get the math and the action part of it... but what I'm wondering about is the approach, the practice, the mindset. When someone tries to lose weight, they have to maintain a calorie deficit,…

I should be about average of 126 lbs.
Everything I eat daily says I should be weighing 126 to 128 lbs in 5 weeks. But I am 142 lb. It never changes. I am eating 1000 to 1300 calories a day. What am I doing wrong. I walked about 5 miles a day just on my job.

Why Do I Need To Confuse My Body?
I chose things to do for physical fitness and activity that I love. I run for 60 minutes 5 days/week. I hike for over 2 hours a day on the weekends (so many interesting and varied trails to choose from) and will be adding 30 minutes of weight training Saturday & Sunday, starting in June. I stay active for at least 10 hours…

Query about recomp?
Been doing a bit of reading about recomp, first rule seems to be slight surplus on training days, deficit on rest days. Now my issue is I do PPL 6 days per week. So how would I get around that? Just 1 day in a deficit seems pointless.

It is time to change my goals
My fitness journey started 4 years ago when I had an emotional eating spiral due to a miscarriage. Despite awful morning sickness I managed to put on 10 lbs in the few short weeks I was pregnant and then ate my emotions while dealing with the loss and the hormone crash that followed. I gained 24 lbs in 3 months! I managed…

I'm slipping and I need some motivation.
I went from 272 down to 189, now I'm back up to 201. I've been around 190 and 195 for about 3 months now and that's all good, but I find now that I don't get to watch that number drop, I start to lose motivation to eat healthy. Anyone out there feel this way?

Having trouble maintaining....
Right now it seems like my body only wants to lose weight. Ive gone from 206lbs down to 116lbs. I go to the gym 4x a week, and do about 25 min of jogging. I dont work out anymore for weight loss. Now I do it for my major anxiety issues. Its one of the few things that actually helps me control it. Problem is, i dont eat…

46 Yr. Old Guy / 1500 Calories / 15 Lbs fat loss 6 Weeks?
Ok... I think I'm on track but wanted to get some opinions. I did 45 days of P90X and got some amazing muscle gains on my upper body. I lost about 3.5" around the belly, but I need to lose another 6" in the next 45 days. Why? I'm in a competition with an old competitor/friend, and I'm not going to lose. It is a "1"…

Did you gain water/glycogen weight when switching to maintenance?
There is a lot of talk on these boards about water/glycogen gains when changing from a calorie deficit to maintenance, and I'm curious as to whether this is a universal phenomenon that everyone experiences or if it is dependent on other factors. This is what I've seen in the message forums: * Many people advise newbies to…

Booo...back on the bus
I went into maintenance mode in October and have been rock solid for the past 5 months despite quitting smoking and greeting a new baby over past few months. Unfortunately, I've seen a uptick in my trending weight for the past few weeks. It's definitely not a surprise as I've felt myself drift back into some old habits…

I need to control what I eat. Any tips?
My goal is not only to get under 200 again but to be fit and get in shape. I need to lay off the junk food and salty and carbs. Once in a while is fine but not all the time. Should I eat back my exercise calories?
Okay, so I have lost about 150 lbs and want to start maintaining. I am 5'9-5'10, 24 yrs old, and weigh 150 lbs. I have mfp set to sedentary and average about 20-25k steps a day. At the end of the day mfp gives me an exercise adjustment of about 1000 calories. Should I be eating these back?

Italian Getaway - How To Maintain!?
Hey ya'll!!! Another post. Been on a roll within the boards lately. I'm currently mid-prep for a powerlifting meet on July 14th. I'm trying to increase strength while maintaining a waist for summer - so I've been eating 1,400 - 1,500 cals x day with 100 - 140 grams of protein. My prep is going well, have added on 10 - 30…

Is the idea that we should gain just a little as we age a fallacy?
It's generally accepted that we (women in particular) will inevitably gain some weight as we age, and that if it is not too much (not sure how much exactly), it isn't a problem. Or at least that is what I pick up through the media etc. Is this a fallacy? Can anyone comment on this - obviously there will be less muscle but…

Just curious: what's your go-to choice when menus have nothing you'd want to eat?
Hi, all. I've been on maintenance for almost 3 years, using MFP for 6. We eat out a lot, and sometimes there is nothing on the menu that I would eat. (I've become a picky eater and am very health conscious ... almost vegetarian/vegan, but not quite.) I always check the menu online beforehand, so if there is NOTHING, I will…

Do you log every day?
And do you plan on logging your food forever? I really don’t like logging my food. It’s tedious. For a while I’ve only been logging m-f and taking weekends off, but it’s not working for me because when I don’t log my food, I use that as an excuse to eat all the food lol. I feel like I could set rules for myself, like just…
