Dinner side dish ideas without or low carbs?
I was raised on dinners with meat, potatoes and a veggie and I'm struggling to plan meals without or low carb sides. If I plop down a chicken breast and veggies on the plate, it looks like it's missing something - like potatoes! Every meal usually always includes a starch, i.e. rice, pasta, potatoes.. Any ideas on how to…

Fast Food
Hello! How did you make your transition away from fast food? I used to eat it pretty much daily (used work/school as an excuse). Since eating healthier I can recognize how *kitten* it makes my body feel, but it doesn't stop the cravings. I know I can have anything in moderation and within my calorie goal, but I'd still…

Dried beans - measuring and logging
I used to cook dried beans a LOT. I got out of the habit, but have started up again in the last year. Cooking from dried is more affordable, can have less salt if I want, and has no risk of picking up BPA from the lining of cans. Before I started cooking dried beans again, it seems I was going through cans pretty…

Messed my stomach up :(
I deal with binge-eating from time to time. :( For the last month I've been out of control. It's not even worrying about the weight I know I've gained; it's now that my stomach feels terrible. Two nights ago I was awake half the night due to cramps, bloating and belly gurgling(I sound like a commercial). It still doesn't…

Is there a way to add automatically repeating meals to the food diary?
Hi guys! I've got some standard meals added to the Food Diary feature and I'm able to use it just fine to plan out my week's meals. One small issue, though, is the fact that my breakfast is exactly the same every day of the week. Copying it over is mildly tedious so I wondered whether MyFitnessPal has a feature to make my…

Weight of food raw vs cooked
I have a food scale that I use for chicken. My husband baked me some chicken breast in the oven with only seasoning. I went to go weigh the chicken so I could have the serving size of 4 OZ. But I then wondered if I should be weighing the food raw instead! Would it matter if baked vs grilled vs sauté with cooking spray. I…

Getting food poisoning from takeaways
So for the past couple of weeks (around 5-ish) I have been eating pretty clean. Weighing everything, cooking myself, no takeaways. Recently, I have had takeaways twice. Once last week and once yesterday, from two different places (my go to places) First off, I didn't enjoy them as much as I used to and both of the times I…

Picky Eating and Weight Loss
I'm an extremely picky eater. Not so extreme as the people that only eat French fries, but definitely not normal either. I struggle to find meals that are good as leftovers, are healthy, and that I like enough to eat several times a week. I've been able to incorporate zucchini and spinach in some things but thats about as…

Eating Back Exercise Calories
I do not understand this method for weight loss. Surely the whole point of exercise is to create a daily calorific deficit so that the body burns fat. If you're eating the exercise calories back then surely your body mass will remain constant.

How do you control your cravings and hunger pangs?
Hey everyone :) I've been counting calories for about 5-6 days now, and so far it's been great o:) I was wandering, how do you control your cravings and hunger pangs? I used to eat about +3500 calories a day, and with MyFitnessPal, I've managed to lower it to about 2300-ish. But I still seem to get bad cravings and hunger…

Kodiak mixes
I have a question about serving sizes. I am currently looking at the cinnamon oat flapjack waffle mix. It shows a serving size as 1/3 cup. Is this dry or wet batter? On the instructions it says scoop 1/4 cup batter onto griddle! So which is it and how can I figure my macros?

Cutting back red meat!!
My husband and I had decided about 2 months ago after some research, to cut back ( not cut out) on red meat. It has worked well in our favor, I've lost about 14lbs, and he lost 10, plus we both have more energy. I eat red meat about 2 times a month, otherwise it's seafood or poultry, and I've replaced things such as…

WEIGHING FOOD VS VOLUME OF FOOD
SO I WENT OUT AND BOUGHT A SCALE AND I DO WEIGH A LOT OF MY FOOD ESPECIALLY MY MEAT. However recently weighed a 8oz of Honey Nut Cherrios but measured in a measuring cup came to 2 and half cups of Cherrios. I deal with the same thing measuring popcorn. I guess my question is this. When is a scale weight correct and what…

Can't stop eating baked goods once I start
So I have this relatively specific problem. I live with my parents, and every time my Mum bakes something (doesn't really matter what it is), without there being a specific reason for it (this is important), I will most likely start eating it, and not stop until it's gone. If the baked good is for a specific purpose (e.g.…

Why is my Salmon so OILY??
I know salmon is a source of "good fats" and is sometimes referred to as an oily fish; however, I recently bought a large fresh salmon filet from an international farmer's market. I cut it into several small pieces and froze each piece. When I cook them, I just take the frozen piece out and place it on a broiler pan. I…
