Curious about keto
I've been thinking about trying keto. So today I started and tracked my food on here. The thing is, the app doesn't differentiate from carbs from sugar or fiber. Or does it? Is there a setting I can change? From my understanding I am allowed carbs from things like Chia seeds or flax seeds and it doesn't really count…

Sugar Replacement
Hello, Please bear with my long rant/question. I'm well aware of how bad sugar is for you and I've been planning on dropping it. The main issue I have is finding something to eat that replaces it (I'm counting carbs as sugar in this case). I'm probably the most picky eater on this planet. I don't like things I should like…

Macros for Runners
I used the IIFYM calculator to calulate my macros a couple months ago and has me eating 108g of protein and 41g of fat and about 135g for carbs. I sometimes don't meet my fat macro but I always kill my protein and don't go over much on my carbs. But through my research of IIFYM I have noticed that the program was more or…

Low carbs high fat
I’ve joined to track the carbs I eat. I’m trying to aim for 20g a day, but never managed that yet. My average is still around 100g a day 😞. Still, I’ve lost 4.5 lbs in 5 days and I couldn’t be more delighted. Anyone else on a low carb journey?

How much is this likely…

Calories in lahmacun?
My local Turkish bakery makes lahmacun very similar to the one on this photo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lahmacun A very flat dough base and a very little bit of tomato, mince and minced herbs and veggies. About similar size. I usually have it with red cabbage, cucumber and onion. Nothing else. It's baked in an oven.…

Protein Powder
Has anyone tried Apollo protein powder? I stumbled across it and I’m thinking about ordering it but I wanted to hear someone’s experience first hand. I see the reviews are practically 5 stars. I recently tried Lady Boss Lean and it’s by far the best protein powder I’ve ever had. I feel like I’m drinking a vanilla…

Green Smoothie Time Saver
I used to make green smoothies every day but it was time consuming because I put a ton of good stuff in them...protein powder, hemp hearts, Chia seeds, flax, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, etc, etc. Everything is kept in separate containers. So I bought some cute little jars at the dollar store and made up little smoothie…

Calorie intake help
Have I done the right thing here nutrition-wise?: Before lockdown and gym shutting I was eating 3000-3050 calories a day. I'm still at work and am trying my best to stay as active as I usually am, but I thought I'd be burning less calories whilst in lockdown despite my efforts. So when the gym shut and we went into…

is my diet causing unmotivation?
For the past four months I've been slowly getting more fit. I started with adding vegetables into every meal and working out a couple of times a week at the beginning of January. I slowly got stricter, I'm now exercising five times a week, running a mile almost every day. I cut down my diet to around 1,500 calories a day.…

Are Ribs More Protein or More Fat?
I ate a half rack of baby back ribs from one of my favourite restaurants tonight and I was wondering: are ribs more protein or more fat? According to another restaurant in my area, a half rack of baby back ribs is 610 calories, 33 fat, and 52 protein (more protein than fat). But if you go onto the USDA database, 100 grams…

Tips for Weighing Food when Cooking for a Family
Recently I have found a lot more success in weighing my food. However, I cook for my family and I notice that weighing some foods, like pasta or quinoa, is better done dry and seems impossible to track accurately because, for example, I cook all the pasta together rather than keeping my portion separate. With only four…

Raising iron levels with food/diet
I have been donating platelets for several years. They check the iron level in your blood before each donation. I have not been allowed to donate twice in the last two weeks due to low iron levels. I could take an iron supplement, but I would rather try to correct this with whole food. What foods should I eat to raise my…

Why, Oh Why?!
...are so many non-fluid ingredients on MFP measured in fluid ounces rather than than an accurate and precise non-fluid measurement such as ounces or grams? Any nutritionists or dietitians around?
I was hoping I could get some advice from some people who know more than me. I’ve been trying to following a plan called 2BMindset, from Beachbody. The only tracking you do is writing down what you ate. You follow a “plate it” method and you base your meals on what your plate should look like. Breakfast is 1/2 protein 1/2…

Replaces Soy Sauce
I have been using Coconut Secret Soy Seasoning for 2 teaspoons it is 180mg of sodium and low in potassium which are two things I have to watch. I do find that it serves the purpose and I buy it at a Health Food Store and of course it is more expensive but for me worth it.

My family and I are doing a homemade afternoon tea tomorrow because our trip for one member’s birthday was cancelled due to the pandemic.
