alternative to quinoa
I made a really nice quinoa/veg/craisins meal for lunch this week, but I'm out of quinoa and a little bored of it, so I'm looking for a similar replacement. Needs to be high in protein and fiber. I don't think brown rice would be as filling of a grain. Any other ideas?

rockstar recovery
Has anyone had it? I am completely obsessed. Twenty calories for a sixteen ounce can....and caffeine?! I know the contents are probably terrible, but do you think having this energy drink will hinder weight loss? I tend to not have coffee in the am if i drink this, and that saves me a handful of calories by not having to…

Keeping Track of the Bad Days
I go to the gym regularly, and have had a personal trainer for the last year, but nutrition has always been my trouble, stagnating any success. I have been using MFP for the last two weeks and love it. The first day that I tracked my food I was horrified just to see what I was putting in my mouth (quantity and quality).…

Healthy eats for an unhealthy boyfriend
Hi! I love to cook and would love to cook healthy meals for both myself and my boyfriend but, my boyfriend is a very picky (and unhealthy) eater and would eat fishsticks and french fries every night if he could. He also won't eat anything that has more than 10 ingredients max. Every time I find a healthy recipe that looks…

Calories for thanksgiving dinner?
It might sound crazy but I'm preparing for my thanksgiving dinner (calorie wise) in advance. I have already calculated how much I can eat of everything to stay within a "normal" calorie range. My whole meal including dessert is around 620 calories. I think I will be fine if I eat the other 600 between breakfast and lunch…

Tried a new dinner last night
I’m bored with my usual so last night I shook it up a little bit. I love that one subtle tweak can change EVERYTHING! Last night I played with spicy Szechuan sauce. It’s sweet and hot and amazing (and only 50cal for 2 tbs). I steamed broccoli slaw, shredded carrots and broccoli. Once soft, I added my protein (last night,…

Beware the Carrots and Raisins!
Went out to Chick-fil-A w/the family last night. Got their Spicy Chicken Sandwich which is around 500cals. which is OK because I knew it'd be around that and had plenty of cals to spare. I thought I'd be good for a side item and get something I thought would be healthy, instead of the typical fries w/that. I chose their…

TOO much sugar
I can't seem to get my sugar under control. My daily calorie allowance is pretty low (1200) since I'm a pretty short woman who doesn't have a lot of weight to lose. I 'm over on my sugar each day. Any tips on how to reduce the sugar intake?

I want to clone yesterday!
Do you ever have that 'perfect' day when cals, exercise, sodium, etc everything come together? Some days 1200-1300 calories can feel like soooo much food, and others it's barely breakfast & lunch. Anyway everything came together perfectly yesterday and I seriously want to copy everything I did! I'm scared to deviate. The…

GOOD, CLEAN eating! Apple Cider Brined Pork Loin Chops
Brining pork chops/loin is possibly the best way to ensure a juicy product. Pork can be very easy to dry out when cooking. How do you lose 2 lb a week still when you need to eat under
I'm 190 lbs at the moment so i can eat 1200 calories and lose 2 lb a week. But when you get down to below 150 lbs, the calculator says that you can't lose 2 lb a week without going below those calories? So I presumed the answer was more exercise but then saw everyone saying that you should eat your exercise calories.. I…

Sugar Anger
Is anyone else stuggling to not go over sugar "limit"? I swear I go over in sugars every single day, but it's mostly* from FRUIT! Bananas have a lot of "sugar" in them, but isn't that okay to eat? *I say "mostly" because Peanut Butter is a regular contributer, too. Just 1 Tbsn can really jack up your sugar numbers! For…

Exericse Calories: To Eat or Not to Eat?
That's the question! I'm sure this has been asked already, but I couldn't find it. I have around 600-750 extra calories I burn from exercise at this point, and I'm wondering if I should eat them all, or will that cause me to just maintain my weight? Any answers would be helpful....I have a feeling this will be different…
