If I don't feel sore, that means workout isn't working?
Hi, I'm on WK - 30 of working out. I'm not a beginner but I've started focusing on joint health, functional strength and longevity instead of having big numbers on my big 3 (DL, Squat and Bench) I do 4 sets with reps ranging from 6-8 I do upper and lower days I track everything, so I can compare and increase weight…

Maintaining vs cut/bulk
I just read bigger, leaner, stronger by mike Mathews. He said that you can gain about 2lbs of muscle per week on a bulk and 0.5lbs per week on a maintenance diet. If you need to cut after a bulk, would a bulk/cut cycle produce 1lb per week? If so, I'm thinking the extra 0.5lbs per week may not be worth the extra effort for…

Should I increase or decrease anything?? Also if I walk a total of 8-10k steps a day how would I go about factoring that into…

Dumbbell Chains Idea
Thought here would be a good place to post this too. I weighed these chains at lows, best weight to $$ ratio at 1 pound per foot of chain. ( I brought my food scale to weigh them with me LOL) but overall this idea is working well as I work out at home so I will take whatever I can to add resistance.

strong curves - adaptable?
Hi :) I'm a 5'6", 130 lbs, 44 year old woman. The navy body fat calculator said 29%, which I find highly unlikely. I'm happy with my weight but I'd like to put on some visible muscle. I also have a connective tissue disorder that makes my doctors a little hesitant to let me lift really heavy. I've been using some of…

Building Biceps Female
I’m new-ish to lifting and enjoying the results, but I’ve noticed something, hopefully you pros can help. I’ve seen many very fit women who have well toned visible biceps, but they seem to appear more elongated and linear. Whereas in men, their biceps are rounder & fuller. Is it a gender thing? Can women not get round,…

6-week reset
The DadBod thread inspired me to start a log for my 6-week restart. I had a humbling experience on my vacation this year. My favorite get-away is to spend a week at Myrtle Beach after Thanksgiving — and get to a favorite gym i found a couple years ago (preCovid) and training with an awesome trainer. This year, I had to…

Is it the training or my eating?
Over the last year, I put on a good chunk of mass, reaching 185lbs at my heaviest; I went up 20 pounds between the start of 2020 and early 2021. I cut this summer, dropping down to the 175lbs range, however now that it's winter I was looking to go back up in weight. This last month, I switched trainers as my old one was…

Recommend a protein powder with minimal calories?
I have nearing the end of shedding 45 pounds of bloated fat. I have a few pounds to go yet. I have also started strength training as at 55 years old I think I have lost some muscle due to aging, and didn't have much to start with as I have a thin frame. I still want to keep my calories under control, although will begin…

Feedback On My Workout Plan
My goals are to eventually compete in a bodybuilding show again. I did one show almost 5 years ago now and I’ve never lost the desire to get back on stage. I haven’t been as consistent the past 3 years due to a surgery and two pregnancies so I have a lot of work to do 😅 I’ve been considering getting a coach though but I’m…

Calorie deficit or Calorie surplus ?
Hi, I am a 37-year-old male and have been hitting the gym for about 7 months now, 4-5 days a week. But even after this much time, I see little to no change in my body. My body fat is still at around 27-28 % and little to no gain in lean muscle mass. I weigh around 148-150 and I want to maintain this weight only as I am…

Baby Bodybuilder
I’m brand-spanking-new to anything bodybuilding. I know pretty much nothing. Looking for a good lifting routine and some high-protein foods to add to my grocery list. My stats are 148 lbs, 5’2”, and around 25% body fat. Trying to focus on the whole body, but my highest priority is my core (arms are a close second). Any…

Pull Days: Moving Dead lifts before Rows?
During my pull days (every other day) I start with rows at 25% 10rm weight x 10 , 50% 10rm x 10, then 100% 10rm x 2 sets before moving to dead lifts 100% 10rm x 2. Don't think it necessarily matters, but FWIW my dead lift 1 RM is approaching 400lbs and row is approaching 200. Both are progressing as scheduled (10%+…
