Proud of my month!
Hey all, I have been a part of MFP for a while but only since the first of the year have I gotten really serious about it. I have done really well this last month and I just wanted to share. I have completely quit drinking soda (dr pepper was a huge down fall for me in the past) and I have lost 8lbs so far. That was the…

Cat Box Success and Other Small Wonders
I mentioned this a few weeks ago, but since I have started this program (nearly a month) the lower back pain I used to have is nonexistant. It bothered me when sleeping, but most notably when bending over to clean the cat box or bath tub, changing laundry and things like that. I am so pleased that this has had such an…

Then & Now - But done a different way
I was recently cleaning out a closet of things that no longer fit as a result of my weight loss when I came across a pleasant surprise! My favorite jean jacket from from nearly 40 years ago! (Back when we were all John Denver fans  ) I thought this closet was just stuff that was too big for me now. Well, my wife had…

Love random complements
I haven't been advertising that I'm losing weight to people. Really the only ones that know are people on this website and my fiance. But today I was talking to one of my friends and out of the blue she goes "you look like you've lost weight." I was very happy to tell her that I had lost 7lbs. :) It's just nice when other…

Well, I was so proud to be doing so well until sitting down with the family for burgers after all my calories were up. One bite led to well, a lot!!!!! I should have known better. Today is a new day. What do you do when you "fall off" to get back on? I'm just starting today fresh again and refuse to give up. Blessings to…

Overdid It This Weekend - But Not Like I Usually Do
This weekend was my first weekend away from home after starting the new MFP lifestyle. I was worried because not only would I be away from my beloved/hated scales (I know, weighing daily isn't usually a good idea, but I've grown used to it), but I would also be eating in non-chain restaurants with no nutrition information…

Month 1: Lost 16 lbs
After 1 month, I lost 16 lbs. The month started with a vow: I would become fit in 2010. This vow came as a result of misinterpretting my scale, when I thought I topped 300 lbs for the first time. Fortunately instead of 301, I was only 281. On January 1st, I resolved to keep an eye on my portions. A facebook friend saw my…

Pretty Jazzed...
So, I'm a 47 year old guy, dashingly handsome, funny, and intelligent, but I was overweight. I hated looking at photos of myself lounging poolside last summer. On January 4th, I weighed in at my heaviest; 267 pounds. I weighed in on January 18th, and I was 259 pounds. I weighed in this morning, and I'm down to 252 pounds;…

Food Addicts Anonymous??
Ok, so yes I am a food addict and I don't see anything on here about this topic. Anyone else want to join? So here's my story: My name is Kim, I'm a mother of 2 and a full time Nursing student. I should know better about bad eating habits but when I'm stressed they come back stronger then ever. I had a really bad…

Down 10 pounds already, YEAH!
 I just had to post. I have only been dieting for 9 days now and am already down 10 pounds. I had been getting discouraged because, as luck would have it, Aunt Flo decided to make her visit in my first week of lifestyle change, but she finally went away and three days later the scales showed it. I know a good…

Finally some progress
It has been 4 1/2 weeks of eating very carefully and building exercise in to my daily life. The weight loss has come relatively easy but the exercise has been the tough part of my overall plan. I have succeeded in doing the minimum thus far but have not had and motivation to actually add in aggressive exercise to my plan.…

Don't freak out!!
Today was my weigh-in. I was afraid that I had gained a pound or two because I screwed up my metabolism with WHEN I was eating. I was kinda forced to skip a few meals during the week, which caused me one night, to go way under my calories. I got the whole "lecture" thingy that MFP gives you when you go under (first time…

Getting married = great weight loss plan
For the past SIX MONTHS I have been at a standstill. I'd stay the same, or yo-yo between the same 4 pounds over and over again. But now ever since getting engaged two weeks ago I've lost 3 pounds! I'm so excited, I'm at the lowest I've ever been and the motivation just keeps coming. Anytime I think about not going to the…

BELLY FLOP!!!!!
I am not even at my goal weight but I have a general question to throw out there to those who have lost almost or all of the weight that they wanted to lose. I, like most girls who are extremely overweight, have that dreaded hanging stomach. What I want to know is does this thing go away once you have lost most or all of…

Cancelling my gym membership!
And yes, for me that's a good thing. A couple years ago I bought a stationary bike for at home thinking it would help me get in shape because I hated the idea of going and working out with a bunch of strangers... and, like I'm sure happens to a lot of at-home exercise equipment, it became a dust collector. So last fall I…
