Milestones achived? What’s yours? Share your lessons.
January of 2018 I stepped on the scale and weighed nearly 200 pounds. Totally not acceptable for a guy who has been fit and trim for the majority of his 57 years in the 160-170lb range. Clothes didn’t fit. I looked and felt terrible. Like many middle-aged men? The weight was being added in one primary location: the…

Two chronic illnesses, still fighting for my body!
So I started my path to fitness about 4 years ago, and when I started I could literally run about 15-30 seconds at a time, despite only being about 20lbs overweight and 22 years old. It took MONTHS to build up to my first half mile, and then another several months to get to one mile. I began lifting weights, which felt…

Before and during
Not quite a “success story” yet, but getting there. I figured I’d share for a little motivation, because I’m not really seeing it when I look in the mirror, and I still have a long ways to go. My highest weight was while pregnant with my twins, so I don’t really count it, but that was 320 lbs. My start weight on December…

Easy free healthy things that have worked well for me--what about you?
I used to look great, young-looking skin naturally (being a longtime vegetarian) and then I didn't, because of age, eating prepared food, grumpiness, stress, whatever. Here are some things that completely helped me, all free. Everyone's mileage will vary, but these made a visible difference in my face in a short time, like…

Overweight and celebrating?
It may seem bizarre to post a thread celebrating being overweight but as usual it is all in the context!! I was diagnosed as diabetic back in September 2019 with a BMI of 45 and blood sugars way out of control. It was the wake up call I finally needed to take some real action to improve my long term life chances and given…

Timeisonmyside
After visiting my doctor for... a once job related thingy, bf "Corona is real!"😳, 1/31/20. Still in shock when the nurse said 253 pds. It was horrifying. I knew it would be alot, but that was at my max!! So I begin to let go of all my troubles as soon as I got home. Oh and she also said she was monitoring my blood pressure…

Almost 3-year journey. Lost over 100 pounds! Face pics
Although it can sometimes be hard to look back at where you were before, the end result is more than gratifying! Stay active, log your food, exercise daily if you are able. You will hit some walls. Your body will be stubborn and will not want to conform to the new you that you can visualize and see. The number one key to…

My Journey to Fitness: what I’ve learned.
I finished my very first 15k in 1:39:13, which put me at 10:38/mile. My goal was 10:00/mile, my expectation was 11:00/mile. Very happy with my results. So...here I am, at the “end” of my journey. I set out to lost 17 pounds and run a 15k. However, I lost 12 pounds and ran a 15k. I f***ing did that!!! On my journey I…

50th Day Logging - 11lbs Gone
I've been up/down with food logging and MFP in the past. This time it finally feels like its going to stick. I don't know why. A pie in the sky goal of 235lb and buying a tux seems like its just a matter of time. My main change has been trying at all costs to hit my macro calorie total of the day. If I'm drinking, or…

5 Years Logging on MFP
My 5 year MFP anniversary was on April 11. I've been pretty loopy but euphoric recently, and it's been part of my long goal. :) After years of anxiety I started walking more and counting kilojoules in 2015. I got to my goal weight in a year, losing 35kg/80lb. I've started loads of threads on MFP, including several in the…

(very) Minor Success!
Today I'm officially "only" overweight and no longer obese - so that's good. In lockdown I'm doing so much more exercise than ever before and my diet, although still terrible, is getting better. Might need to order some new lockdown trackies at this rate!

345 down to 221. If I can do it, you for sure can !
Let me make this as quick and short as possible. This all happened while I was incarcerated. When I was incarcerated they weighed me in at 345! now i don’t know if that was a true reading but that’s what the scale said. After I was incarcerated I became slightly obsessed with counting calories. Only because our meals would…

Thanks MFP, My 3 Month Challenge
Hi MFP Community. I wasn't happy where I was at Christmas 2019. Decided to make a lifestyle change and found this app. It's been a game changer for me. I have still managed to eat and enjoy lovely food so not felt I have missed or craved anything in 3 months. Keep Going It Can Be Done, Thanks again Xxx

Overcoming Disorder - My Experience & Three Steps to Recovery
Hi MFP Community, I hope you're all keeping healthy, happy and sane wherever in the world you are. This is quite a personal post, and one that I've been considering writing for a while. I've decided to share now because I hear about more and more people having similar struggles, so I hoped that my experiences might be…

Scale swings eliminated by intermittent fasting
I started intermittent fast a little over a month ago. I don't eat past 8 PM and my first meal of the day is 11:00-12:00 and I really like it a lot. I found it much easier than I though. It seems to have completely eliminated some wild swings on the scale. I weigh every morning and I used to get some wild swings on the…

Goal weight of 110 pounds
I’m 5’3 and currently 112 pounds. At my biggest I was nearly 150 pounds. I think for my height and body I started to look and feel good at around 120 pounds. I’d be fine being115 pounds but my goal weight is 110 pounds so 2 more to go!

A minor victory
Three months ago, I had tests with discouraging results:* Cholesterol was 5.3 with a 5 to 1 bad to good ratio * Blood pressure was 140 over 90 * 1CA was 50 - there seem to different units to measure this; this one starts at with pre-diabetes at 42 and diabetes at 48 My BMI was around 28; I decided to diet aggressively,…

My wife said even trying was crazy at my age
But 29 years after I graduated high school, I now weigh what I weighed at graduation, or at least close enough.
