Omega 3 Fish Oil
It was recently recommended to me to start taking a supplement, Omega 3 Fish Oil. Can anyone weigh in on this? I was informed that by taking Omega 3 it would help give me good fat which in turn will help me lose more weight. You have to eat healthy fat to lose weight. A difficult concept for me. I appreciate your comments…

Boo Tuna!
So I bought some 12oz cans of tuna thinking I would get three 4oz servings out of it. I didn't realize that the extra 4oz was just water. So after I drained it out I was left with just 2 servings still

How to Drink Less Sugar?
I grew up drinking mostly just plain water, I was only allowed one or two glasses of watered down juice a day as a kid so I'm just used to drinking it and have no problems, infact too much juice or soda just makes me feel ill. My husband is driving me mad. He hated the taste of plain water, and drinks almost exlusively…

Cravings what's the deal?
I have been craving tons of things lately. Chocolate like crazy, salty food, ranch dressing, fried food :/ For four months I have been eating clean with a mini cheat day once a week (like ranch instead of fat free balsamic dressing) with no issues until now. I still tell myself I don't need them BUT i'm not sure why this…

I hate bananas
I hate bananas. I see so many people put them in their smoothies and such but no matter what I put them in I can taste them. Is there an advantage to eating bananas?? All I see are the carbs and the sugar, two things I'm trying to stay away from. Do I need to eat them or does everyone eat them just because they like them.

Daily Calories for Weight Loss?
I am 26 years old and currently weigh 136 lbs (9.7stone). For my small height of 5ft2inches I find it very difficult to carry weight – and at the same time shift it. Two years ago I quit smoking. At the time I was 8 stone and was healthy and curvy. I would like to get back down to 8.5 stone before my holidays in one month.…

Scared to eat more but I am hungry sometimes
I reached my weight goal - I'm 5'1'' and I started at 116 lbs (gradual weight gain after having 2 kids). I'm currently between 97-99 lbs depending on the day, and I've been at that weight since August (I started with MFP in April). I'm happy with my weight and my body so now it is just a matter of maintenance. I work out 6…

Drink too much water?
Yesterday I had a rather good meal for dinner. But i then realized I had only drunk about 4 cups of water that day. So I then hurried right before bed and drank another liter of water in about 3 minutes. I felt like I was going to throw up, but I didn't. I went to bed, and I woke up and didn't feel hungry or anything,…

C:P:F ratios
I'm trying to form a working ratio of C:P:F to help lose fat weight while maintaining lean mass. I was shocked to find MFP ratios to be 55:15:30 - surely not enough Protein? However, the ratio I was looking at going to 40:30:30 - I am finding it really difficult to keep my Carbs down and my Protein up. I know there is…

What tolerances do you keep to in your diary?
Hello, just wondering how exact do people aim for within their food diaries, do you try to stick to say 5 or 10% of all your measures? I'm trying to keep to within +/- 5% of calories and maybe up to +/- 10% difference on the other measures. As long as it balances out over the week does it really matter?

Did You Get To Eat What You Were You Told What To Eat?
Did you get to eat what you wanted or were you told what to eat? When I was growing up we had to eat what we were given and ALL of it. I can still remember sitting with a dinner plate for many hours. I used to try to hide food in my napkin. We had a lot of food wars. I was pretty stubborn and eventually when I got older I…

Fruit - sugar content
I am consistantly going over my daily allowance of sugar, and it appears to be down to the amount of fruit I am eating. A typical day consists of 20-30 red grapes, an apple, a banana and 1 or 2 satsumas. Do I need to cut back on the fruit or not?

Tofu Shirataki noodles; what are they?
I was watching "Hungry Girl" the other morning, and she made a casserole using Tofu Shirataki noodles. They are basically a pasta substitute made out of tofu and the root of a Japanese yam with only 40 calories per BAG. They come "pre-cooked", and all you have to do is drain them and heat them up in whatever way you want.…

The Energy Balance Equation has holes in it.
Lots of people claim their in starvation mode and have been on plateau's in variable lengths of time. While that can be the case sometimes, and even then it's difficult for a complete slowdown to occur, unless it's a small deficit where weight loss has effectively met a new maintenance level. This study just verifies one…

Soy Noodles-where to buy?
I have been hearing a lot of stuff about soy noodles. They have 0 calories and are basically made out of soluble fiber while still tasting like pasta. I saw them on rachel ray and watched Hungry Girl Lisa Lillien use them for alfredo on the doctors show. So I was really wanting to try them as a no calorie pasta sub, BUT i…

Recovery Drinks
Hey guys, I'm really super ignorant when it comes to recovery drinks, and after doing some google searches, I've found that I'm just as lost about the topic as I was when I started. Few questions: 1) When should you have a recovery drink (after every workout? how long afterwards?) 2) Is chocolate milk a good substitute as…

Best low-calorie jam?
I have a weakness for PB&J--it's one of my comfort foods and I need that this cold, snowless Vermont winter! But I would like to cut down on calories. I tend to like jam that has a lot of fruit in it (raspberry, strawberry, blackberry--notice a pattern?!) but sometimes have a hard time dealing with low-sugar options. Can…

Another Thought About Milk
I know there's another "milk" thread going on but my question is different.... A friend sent this to me earlier, wanted to see what you all thought: "Milk is for baby cows. Period. We're the only species to drink the milk from another species, and we're also the only species who continues to drink milk after infancy. "…

Limiting Carb Options
I consider myself a Low Carb dieter. That means I eat carbs but I get them for the most part from dairy, veggies and fruit. I try to stay away from bread, pasta, rice, crackers, cereal, etc. Why? Because I don't feel good (feels like lead in my stomach) when I eat them and tend to get hungry quicker. I also have a problem…

Too Much Protein?
I can't seem to get a consensus online as to whether or not too much protein is bad. Without even trying, I am eating 70 grams of protein a day. I am NOT trying to do this. You can see my food notebook for reference. I just eat a lot of greek yogurt and grilled chicken and salmon and somehow my protein intake is out of…
