Anyone know if there is an ideal time to eat? Like how long before or after exercising - to maximize use of nutrients or to maximize calories burned before they are stored as fat. Thanks!

Vitamin A deficiency
Well I'm taking 10,000 IU a day, but I think due to my low fat intake I'm not getting it all. I don't eat red meat at all and chicken only a few times a week. I'm a big fish eater, I do eat two eggs a day and a ton of cheese for the fat. But it's not helping? I'm no dietitian but I need to figure this out and quick as I…

pregnant- not eating all my calories
My diary is public so feel free to take a peek. 19 weeks pregnant, obviously I'm not dieting to lose weight so I have MFP set for "maintenance". At 5"11" pre-preg weight of 185 that has me eating 2200 calories a day plus whatever I earn for exercise. I've been back to logging (mostly) daily for about two weeks and…

Question about the Paleo diet
I don't really know much about the Paleo diet (other than it being based on the paleolithic period), but I was thinking about this the other day. Can people who eat paleo eat foods that didn't exist during the paleolithic period? If they can, why call it paleo, and if they can't, why are bananas listed on the "ok" foods…

Sweet Potatoes/ Yams and GI Levels
Okay, so I know that if you bake either of these in the oven for 45 minutes there GI levels can raise quits drastically. I've been told to boil them, but I'm a real big fan of eating the skin and prefer to actually microwave them. So does it hurt to microwave them? Yams and Sweet Potatoes have become a huge stable in my…

Type one diabetes
I'm brand new here, so I thought first off, I'd say hello! Second, I have been a type one diabetic for eleven years now. In case we are not clear, when people warn about having a healthy lifestyle to prevent diabetes, this is not what they mean. The kind of diabetes I have is genetic and is an autoimmune disease; the other…

any other foodies trying to become x-foodies?
I realized recently, that my food-focused ways have a lot to do with my weight issues. I cook healthy meals, and get enough vegetables, but I spend way too much time reading threads on a food-related community site (which interestingly, is how I found out about myfitnesspal), planning out my recipes, planning what to order…

PROTEIN???
I've been hearing a ton about how I should be eating 100+ grams of protein a day. I currently work out 5 days a week - a full-body cardio+strength circuit training routine 3x a week and plain old cardio on the other 3. You can check out my diary to see what I usually get. I think it's around 65-70 per day. SO CONFUSED…

How much sugar to eat?
So my MFP thing says that 28 grams of sugar is what I should be eating. I find it super hard to eat such a low amount. My breakfast smoothie alone is already 20-25 grams of sugar. I usually eat 40-50 grams of sugar a day and I always go over my limit but is it good or no? I honestly think that 28 grams is way too low for…

How often do you treat yourself?
After a discussion with my dietician she says I should let myself have a treat (like a chocolate bar or something) once every three days or every 10th meal. I think this is quite acceptable, although I do have cravings for a little treat more often than this and sometimes I slip. Just wondering what are your guys views on…
