Any way to get rid of salt in canned beans?
So I am making some Spanish rice and I ran out of pigeon peas. I used a can of pinto beans I accidentally purchased at Walmart. I did not realize how much sodium (they were salted) was in it until I started logging the recipe (Over 1200!). Its too late to start all over so I was wondering if I were to drain the beans and…

Am I Eating Too Much Protein?
My doctor did some body composition on me and said my LBM is a pitiful 18.5lbs. This is embarrassing because I weigh over 200lbs. I am eating 30% protein, so is that too much? It's over 100g a day, so could that be stalling my weight loss? I read you're supposed to eat 1g of protein for every pound of LBM, is that right?…

Hello! I have been an MFP member for a while, but have been "off the band wagon" for about 6 months and I'm trying to get back on track. I work 12 hour night shifts and sometimes am up for 24+ hours. I recently started running again and am doing C25k three days a week as of today. I drink a TON of caffeine: coffee and Diet…

How accurate is MFP?
How accurate is MFP when it comes to food and exercise? Sometimes it's dead on, and sometimes it's not when looking up the calories on the package. To change the kid's diet or not
Recently I've been doing a lot of research on controlling certain conditions through diet instead of medication. I have endometriosis and last year got weirded out by meat. Your Bowl of Greens
What do you add to your salad to elevate it above "rabbit food"? ETA: This afternoon I am experiencing a bizarre, very-atypical-for-me craving for, of all things, the rabbit food. For lunch I had a big bowl of romaine with roasted bell peppers and feta, followed by a bowl of romaine with picante sauce and crushed…

Flexible Dieting = Success (rant)
I've seen many posts on here strongly advocating eating only "clean foods". And carbophobia, or the irrational fear of sugar seems also prevalent among many people in the nutrition section. But the fact is that the human body doesn't recognize foods as "clean" or "dirty". So what's this moral superiority of eating only…

Carbs Minus Fibre
I don't think this program takes fibre into consideration, does it? I am diabetic and I carb count to figure out how much insulin to take. For instance if a piece of bread has 20carbs and 5 fibre, then I minus the fibre from the carb and take insulin for 15g of carbs. So if the program isn't taking fibre into consideration…
