Hi, Today I had a mcdonalds for lunch and counted it etc. It was convenient as I am looking after my niece and we were in town. I can’t help but feel guilty, is it certain no matter what you lose weight as long as you stick to your goal? What about ‘good calories and bad calories l’ etc? If I am going to do this, I want to…

40's women
Hello all. I turn 46 in June and I just weighed myself yesterday and found out I gained 40 pounds somehow since I moved here to FL about 3 years ago. This is even more of a "whoops" considering that I had lost over 100 and was doing great. I hadn't weighed myself in a while and have been feeling pretty horrible about…

Refiguring Deficit
Let's agree that it takes a 3500 calorie deficit to loose 1 pound of body weight. Let's suppose that a body, because of an excess deficit period, readjusted into a starvation mode with a slowed metabolism. How would the 3500 calculation change? Would it need to be refigured to 4500 or 5500 to shed a pound? Or, would it…

Dealing with Depression
I've been dealing with some pretty strong bouts of depression this past week. Monday was the worst, I couldn't even muster the strength to wash the dishes. It's never been that bad before. I started doing some research and some studies suggest that increased consumption of preprocessed foods, especially sugars can cause…

Carb cycling and timing of workouts
I’ve read into carb cycling and how you’re supposed to have higher carbs on lift days. Does it matter if the lift is before or after the carbs? Are the carbs best for fuel or recovery in this situation? (I like to workout first thing in the morning before i eat and unsure if carb cycling is beneficial in this context)

Weight loss and loss of muscle mass
Would love thoughts on losing weight and maintaining muscle mass. I know protein is important, but how important? And if you can’t gain muscle, why is it recommended to still weight train? Also, how important is the rate at which you lose weight in terms of maintaining muscle? Spent two years lifting and now I need to lose…

Daily calorie limit didn't adjust as weight we t down?
When I started MFP I was given 7500kj a day. Since then I've lost 17kg. The last month or so my weight stopped going down, so I calculated my calorie needs on another site, and turns out I've been overeating for my current weight (so no weight loss). I thought MFP automatically adjusted your calorie goals as you put in…

Breastfeeding & weight loss & calorie cycling
So I put my settings to lose .5 lb per week since I'm breastfeeding I don't want to lose to my supply (I'm a 3rd time mom that thankfully has never had a milk supply issue!) So it gave me 1840 daily calories, so at first I added 500 extra to that & I started gaining weight. So I just took the extra 500 off & now I'm losing…

Ruts Sucks
I’m totally in a rut. Gained weight back. This makes me snore and this wakes myself up all throughout the night and I sleep terribly. I eat way too much and crappy food to make myself feel better. Increasing heart BPM as a fitness gauge
One of my things is to try and increase my max bpm as it's off season so I do hard sprints on the gym bike. Does anyone else gauge their fitness this way? I really…

Is counting calories disordered eating? Shouldn’t we be able to not overeat?
I wish I could just eat like a “normal” person and not count calories.
