MFP maintenance calories gross or net?
Hello, I'm having a hard time figuring this out. I have reached my goal weight and am trying now to maintain it. I have set MFP to maintain with a 'light' activity modifier. I walk atleast 3 miles every day (Some days 5) and I run at least 5 miles a day 6 days a week. MFP gives me an intake of 2,180 calories. Is that what…

Any advice on what to do now?
I don't really know what to do now. I started MFP (around Feb 2013) at 135 lbs. 5ft 5 inch tall 45 year old female and wanted to get back to what was my normal weight of around 120 to fit into my old clothes (I have never dieted or did exercise before it took me around 5 years to put that 15 lbs. on) . I would exercise 2-3…

Maintaing and TDEE
I see stuff about TDEE all over this site and, to be honest, it scare me. I am small at 5'2 and have been trying to maintain. Eating a net of 1200 a day helped me lose the original 10 pounds I wanted and here I am maintaining, but having trouble finding a balance. I've been thinking about upping my calories in the hopes…

Maintaining weight while exercising a lot.
I'm getting close to moving into maintenance mode with my weight, and I'm used to pre-planning my meals and not eating back my exercise calories. However, I've become a long-distance runner, and it's not uncommon for me to burn an estimated 1000-1500 calories in a single run, and I also do strength training. My question is…

Change in activity...
So I recently started school, typical HS life, walk here sit for 90 mins walk there... However my backpack weighs 44.3lbs :S I also have weight training (school offered elective) I do my best here and try at it (unlike most there) how many calories should I be eating? I hardly noticed...now...I am thinking I want to maintain at 50kg and just focus with toning as my body seems to be happy at this weight - thing is according to this calculator if I have elevated heart rate for 30…

What do you consider your "maintenance" weight?
Do you try to maintain your weight at one specific number? Do you give yourself a little leeway taking into account different variables that can affect weight? And if so, how much? A pound? Two? Five? More? Thanks

How to Maintain Weight once School year starts?
Ever since I've started this fitness journey, I haven't maintained a weight at a steady rate. I maintained a weight of around 123-125 during the last stretch of my Senior Year( btw, I'm 5 foot 6) . It was very hard to do so, as I had to wake-up at 5:45 am every week day, have a small cereal bowl, and had to snack about…

Finding Balance
I've been using MFP for a while, but this is my first post. I've recently reached a point where I'm okay with my weight, yet I've recently felt extremely restricted which is causing me to want to binge. For example, yesterday I weighed in at 116 and after a day of eating like crazy I weighed myself this morning and I was…

Have I been using IF correctly?
I've been a low calorie diet for months (7 months). I did not know back then that I was consuming low calories more than I should've until recently when I started counting calories. I was 115.5lbs when I ended my low calorie diet in the end of May. Started MFP and some light exercise but sedentary most of the time. I was…

Snacking v. Treats
I have been thinking a lot about a question about snacking and I had an insight, I think. Snacks are part of your regular diet. So they should be generally healthy and in line with the regular food that you eat. A snack is something you eat to get you from one meal to the next without getting hungry. Treats, on the other…

Anyone not up their MFP calories?
Has anyone not upped their set MFP calories for maintenance to avoid overeating? I had less than 10 lbs to lose but have really enjoyed having MFP available to track my eating and exercise. I had it set to lose .5 lbs a week, so my deficit was only 250 a day calorie wise. I've been eating a lot healthier and exercising…

Suggestions???
OK, I'm 137 pounds, down from 195. Trying to get to 135 and maintain. With my calories and exercise this week I should've lost about half a pound, but instead I'm getting such a thick jelly belly all of a sudden. What gives? I mean, I should at least be maintaining, if not losing weight. Suggestions?

Maintenance and Strength Training Progress Pics
So, this is a bit of a nerdy comparison, but I've been maintaining since April 2012 and have been continuing to strength train and trying to just become more fit. I am roughly the same weight as about a year ago when the first picture is taken (going to the Renaissance Faire), and although the angle is a little off on the…

You're at goal weight, so whats wrong?
I am 31, 5'3 and currently 131 lbs. I am a wife, I am mother to one trying little 2 yr old boy and a full time Paralegal for a Real Estate Law Firm. My heaviest weight was 205 lbs when I was 22 years old. Lost over 80 lbs to get to 118 lbs over the course of a few years. Maintained 118-125 for a good year or so. Met my…

I think I was a bear in my past life...
I am in my "senior" years, unlike most here (I think). In my youth, I WAS very active with sports, but during the years sustained injuries that have prevented me from indulging in a lot of the activities I loved. Since January, I have lost 30 lbs, and have been maintaining at 135 for the past 2 months. Although I DO NOT…

On days where you know you're going to go over calories
One of the things that works well for me in keeping my weight down is eating often. Aside from the three main meals of the day, I usually have a small snack in the morning and the afternoon (current in the form of a kashi granola bar, but sometimes it's nuts or fruit). But, let's say you're going out with friends in the…

New to Maintenance and could use a few hints
Hi all, My first post on this thread well, because, I guess I've reached the point where I don't want to go much lower. Well at least for now anyway. And I could use a few comments from others who have been here on MFP and in maintenance for a while. I think it's great that MFP finally has a maintenance thread. My biggest…

Who else is using 6:1 fasting for maintenance?
5:2 fasting is effective for many people as a method of calorie restriction over a week time frame and the Dr Mosely documentary suggests a range of other long term benefits. It is for these other benefits that I have switched to 6:1 now that I am at my goal weight. Who else is using 6:1 fasting for maintenance? Do you…

How to go higher...
I am trying to maintain for a while before I make the last push to lose just 10 more pounds or so. I've upped my calories slowly to avoid gaining, but I confess I've probably eaten too little at some times over the past several months, and I think I'm maintaining at like 1700-1800 calories. Far too few for me, 180 pound…

Eating at Maintenance to Lose?
As I only want to lose 6lb, is it worth simply taking on board my maintenance goal's calories now? Has anyone done this? I know little about actual daily calorific intake and wonder if a loss of 6lb will be so different in terms of daily intake over the long term?

Gaining Weight Rapidly after Successfully Maintaining
Okay, my story is a bit of a long one, and it's probably been posted by others before, but I'd appreciate if you bear with me and give me some advice! My whole life I was moderately overweight. Two years ago when I left for college I was determined not to gain the freshman 15. I worked out 1-2 hours a day (only cardio at…

Weight gain during maintenance? Help?
Please no "but it's only 1-3lbs" comments. I've been truly scratching my head over this. I hit my goal weight a few months ago, I was around 50-50.5kg and switched to maintenance. I usually eat 95% healthy during the week and would leave the weekends for my 'eat what I want days' and even though I never "over did" it, I…

I lost a pound!

To maintain? Or keep trying to lose?
Hi everyone, I'm currently trying to figure out what will be the best course of action for my body. I'm 5'7 and about 135-140lbs, at (everywhere gives me different results, but somewhere aroundddd) 23-24%bf (used to be SO MUCH LOWER, but I've slipped :/ ) My main goal is to break back into the teens for bf% (and stay…

maintenance & Strength Building Focused Friends Welcomed!!
Having lost 70 lbs in about 6 months, I have been now focused on building strength and body recomposition. Along my journey, I have learned a ton and made some good friends whose support I still continue to enjoy. I would though like to continue to welcome more friends focused on maintenance or building strength that are…

Carbs? Fat? Protein!?
Don't worry I don't want to ask how much I should be eating. I have my macros set and I like where they are. I just really want to know , if those on maintenance, tend to watch over a macro? Carbs and fat are a favorite to watch obviously. Do you watch carbs? Proteins or fats? Or do you just watch your calorie goal since…
