Interval training for weight loss
I have always heard that using intervals when running is better for shedding fat than running for long periods of time...here is a good article to explain it. Burn More Calories in Less Time The way to shape up fast is no secret. Weight training will sculpt and build lean muscle, which (unlike fat) burns calories on its…

Victorious Fitness Challenge. . .June 20
Hey is this the last day? (Victoria Day, May 19, one month later?) is it time for a new name? I'm so confused. So, I just weighed and I'm down two pounds from last week's weight, which puts me back in my "goal range". It's amazing how the scale can rule your life, even if you're a pretty normal person otherwise. . .or,…

This may be a silly question but...
they say it is most accurate to weigh yourself in the morning with no clothes, before you have eaten, and after you have went to the bathroom. Now I won't disagree, this is when I weigh the least... But thats once a day.. My body usually has food and all that in it etc... So wouldn't maybe weighing in the middle of the day…

The easiest way to get your heart rate up?
Bike or running... lots of effort to get my heart rate up. Nordic track... not that much effort to get my heart rate up. Do you have a low effort way to get your heart rate up? I'd like to try a rowing machine, but I don't have one.

VO2max dropped?
Ok, so I've been exercising daily, almost strictly cardio, with a few break days thrown in here or there. I aim for 3-4 days a week of actual heavy cardio, and then at least one day of light cardio (paintball, hiking, something along those lines). I haven't really focused very much on strength training. Now, I've been…

Confused! Could I really have this much fat?!
I'm so confused right now. I looked up how much body fat I should carry and if my calculations are correct then holy crap! :noway: This is the guide I used. Use the percentage to determine how much your body fat weighs. For example, if you weigh 150 lb. and your body fat percentage is 25 percent, you have 37.5 lb. of fat…

Good Morning! Didn't work out yesterday as it was the first day of work for me...turned into a long day. But I managed (with a heroic effort) to stay within my 1200 calories. I was STARVING all day from the moment I woke up but figured it was a good idea to shock my system. I'm getting a little too used to eating 750+…

Heart Rate Monitors

Increasing speed
What is/are the best ways to increase your over-all speed when jogging? I can run a consistent 11 minute mile for about forever... but I want to increase to about a 9.5/10 minute mile and I am not sure the most effective way to do it. Would it be adding more time to my jogs? Doing intervals? Having specific sprint days?…

New motivation
Something I started doing recently...I have a DVR which means I can record my favorite TV programs to save for later (think TIVO). Well lately I've been allowing myself to watch them only while riding my exercise bike. I can't wait to watch my shows, and if I have to exercise to do it, it's motivating me to move. I have so…

Victorious Fitness Challenge. . .June 18
Morning ladies! Oooh. . .a little sore today. Nothing major just a "good hurt" kind of "oh, yes, I remember that muscle" feeling. Especially my legs (the little "balancing muscles" around the knees) and middle core. Today is a "light cardio" day. I'm aiming for 400 calories by walk/running if the weather cooperates.…
