a question about eating.
so, I have talked to a friend of mine who said that it is better to stand while you are eat, rather than sitting down because the body is circulating better and burning more calories, as opposed to sitting down while eating. upon hearing that, it does make some sense to me, but my question is: does eating while standing…

Post Workout Snacks
Hi fellow MFP's! I was just wondering if any of you had some low calorie post workout snacks. I do my workouts at 10pm sometimes even 11:30pm as I have to put the 2 kids to sleep and do a quick clean up before doing this. I find that after my little work out (on level 3 of the 30 day shred) I want a little something to…

Meal replacement shakes. Any recommendations?
I've been thinking about trying meal replacement shakes to kick start my weight loss. I eat pretty well (about 1500-1800 healthy calories a day) and exercise (weight training 2x week; cardio 3-5x a week) but my progress is really slow. I'm over 40 and my metabolism is slowing down so I'm considering a liquid based diet to…

Breakfast to go (I love my rice cooker)
I have to be out the door for work at 5 a.m. - which means preparing a healthy breakfast before work doesn't happen. Recently, I've started making this, and packing it to go (usually eating it when I get hungry around 7). You need: - a rice cooker - 1/2 cup steel cut oats - 1 cup water - 1 medium apple, cut into tiny cubes…

starving after breakfast
I wake up hungry at 6am every day, and I always have a bowl of Kashi Go Lean Crunch, 2 tbps. almonds, 1 banana, and 1 cup 1% milk. That's 500 calories, yet I am always hungry by 9:30. Even if I eat a morning snack I am starving and eat lunch by 11. This is crazy, it seems like no matter how much I eat I am still ravenous…

Too much fiber? How big of a deal is it really?
I seem to eat too much fiber everyday, I'm curious as to if this is really something I should be concerned about. I tend to choose foods that are high in fiber because they fill me up. Any suggestions/ideas/thoughts?

Ok so sorry if this sounds dumb but I've really never watched what I've eaten before. What foods help you stay on track?
I recently discovered Icelandic yogurt (skyr). High in protein, low in sugar, and fat free - it's my new super food. I can't believe I never knew about it until now. It made me think, "what other super foods have I been missing out on? I thought I'd see what I could find here.

Be honest with yourself cuz YOU will be the one cheated!
Should I log fruits and vegetables? What about hard candies that I just suck on? Yes, duh, log it all. Should I log house cleaning, food prep or farting as exercise? No. If you didn't lift items heavy enough to be true strength training (e.g. baling hay) or get and keep your heart rate in the aerobic zone as you would do…

Juicing
I want to try adding juicing to my day. I don't plan to stop eating, but would like to maybe have two 8 oz glasses of fresh juice a day to try to get my vegetable and fruit nutrients since I don't much like vegetables. Today I had an 8 oz glass made with 3 carrots, 1 apple, kale, broccoli and cauliflower. It was pretty…

Anyone else eat hardboiled eggs?
I just figured out the nutrition in one egg and its actually very nutritious. For under 90 calories you get a satisfying snack and a good amount of protein(also low Carb)., It's relatively good once in a while- which is because of the high cholesterol in the yolk.

A different attitude to food
I've been thinking about my attitude to food and how it has changed since I joined MFP. Before I started MFP, at best, food was for pleasure. At worst it was for comfort and instant gratification. Now I think of food as fuel. I still have treats and eat what I want, but within the boundaries of my macros and cal needs. But…

TDEE-20%
Okay, I know there are tons of questions out there on this and yes I've read the road map, over and over! My question is simple, my TDEE-20% is right at 1600 calories a day. I usually eat total food about that, give or take depending on the day. My net though is usually only 1200 or 1300 calories. So, should my net be the…

Roasted vegetables - weigh before or after?
In checking the database for logging my foods I've noticed a difference in raw, steamed and roasted etc. So do you weight these vegetables before you cook them (what ever the method) or after?? Also the same for different kinds of meat - do you weigh before you cook or after?
