For parents of schhol age children
At what age did you start letting your kids get a snack without asking first? recently my 5 (almost 6) year old daughter has begun to get snacks without asking first, I often don't find out until later when she either tells me or I find a wrapper in the living room. She's not getting bad snacks, its usually fruit or a…

Is the Magic Bullet really magic?
So I like to mix up protein smoothies and such. I think my little one-serving blender is losing its luster and it may be time to replace it. The Magic Bullet blender is everywhere this time of year. Do you have one or something else? I want something small that does not take up a lot of counter space like a blender does. A…

South Beach Calories
I started phase one of the South Beach diet, and I am having a hard time eating enough food to get above 1200 calories. The inability to eat carbs has really cut into my calorie count. I am eating plenty, 3 meals and 2 snacks per day, and I almost never feel hungry, I am just worried that i am not eating enough calories.…

Have any of you ever tried incorporating CoQ10, raspberry keytones, and/or l-carnitine to help your metabolism or lose more fat weight? Any other helpful supplements out there? HIGH FIBER but YUMMY cookie
I seem to be immune to FiberOne and other similar "high fiber" items. And the taste of the bars and brownies aren't that pleasing to me. So I thought I'd share an easy "cookie" that I find MUCH tasty from my Weight Watcher days. Nice to pack 1-2 in my lunch for a sweet fix at work. My husband LOVES LOVES LOVES the mint…

Protein Sources without Dairy
So I really, really, like REALLY, need to bump up my protein intake, but it's pretty hard since my body rejects all things lactose and whey. I don't eat any dairy at all, and watch out for these in other food products. So outside of eating chicken and tuna (the most affordable lean protein I can find) does anyone have…

sunchips, are they really as healthy as portraid?
I love sunchips but haven't really thought if there was a negative side. When I go to subway I refrain from getting chips usually, but if I do, I like the sunchips. So my question is, are they better or worse than normal chips?

Prenatal vitamins for NON-pregos :)
So I just started to take prenatal vitamins. Rainbow light the petite ones, but no I am not expecting a child, not even even planning. Do Multivitamins Improve Health?
I don't think there is much evidence that they do. Before I begin, if you're clinically deficient in a certain vitamin or mineral, and a doctor puts you on a supplement, then yes you should be taking it and it is benefiting you. That's not what I'm talking about here. I'm talking about general multivitamin supplementation,…

I'm so hungry. My calorie goal is just not cutting it!
I aim to eat 5-6 meals a day, but I've been struggling with being super hungry. I do well until 3pm and again at 8pm, both times when my stomach is growling and I go scrounging for snacks. My calorie goal is 1200 calories/day based on my hope to lose 1 lb per week. I have been getting a good mix of protein and veggies in…

Nutritional Priorities
With <10 lbs. to my goal weight, I recently slowed my pace to a loss of .5 lb./wk., thus increasing my daily calories by 230 to 1,450 total. With more calories to consume, I am finding even greater difficulty keeping my macro-nutrients fairly in line versus swinging wildly in one direction or another. I realize my numbers…

fast food
I don't understand how people can eat fast food! Taco Bell can't even call their meat beef because it contains so little actual meat and then they stuff it with chemical and flavoring. Mcdonalds and burger king never molds. How is that possible! You tell people this and they still go and order a big mac! So gross. At least…

Meal suggestions for low carb/high protein please
The meal plan I am following right now calls for low carb/high protein every other day with the exception of breakfast which you can have carbs. Any meal suggestions for this? Hello everyone! I purchased a juicer yesterday and ended up going with the Omega Vert and I don't recall the series but it is a good one that I do know. Too Little Calories?
I eat a vegetarian-based diet, meaning that 80-85% of my diet is fruit and veggie-based. The remaining percentage is divided between twice-weekly consumption of a hamburger or baked fish and boiled egg whites (no yolks) about three times a week. I am lactose-intolerant and caffeine-intolerant. Anyway, the further I delve…

Breakfast Any Advise?
So I find that breakfast is a problem of mine when it comes to dieting. Either I get a little overexcited about my diet and I under-eat or I saw screw it and eat a Tupperware sized bowl of fruity pebbles.
