Weighing items on a food scale.
I just purchased a food scale and have a couple questions. Am I supposed to weigh the food before its cooked or after its cooked. Does it make a difference? I usually buy frozen skinless chicken breasts, and the veggies that steam in the bag so I can't really cut it open to weigh it. What about pasta should I weigh that…

Whats a good butter?
I don't like synthetic stuff like I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. I'm not afraid of good fats, I'm afraid of chemicals. I tried Organic Valley Whipped Butter, but I'm not a fan of the taste. I think maybe its the sweet cream. It made everything taste funny, even when I used it within a recipe. What is smart Balance? Is…

Food vs. Excerise Calories
So I am new to MFP and have a dumb question.... I understand that we receive extra calories if we exercise, but that is what I'm confused about. In order to lose weight isn't important to exercise and cut your calories? Why do we get added calories if we exercise? I exercise 5 days a week and cosume around 1400 calories a…

Question: carbs vs. calories
Hello, I'm new to tracking nutritional intake. I've been following the P90X menu and everything has been dead on so far in terms of recommended carbs, fat, protein. Unfortunately I was unable to prepare a lunch last night because of other commitments, so I'll need to pick up something nearby. Best choice seems to be…

Trouble eating the exercise calories
I'm sure people have posted this in the past...I may have even read them...but I was wondering if anyone else has a tough time getting all of their exercise calories in. I am completely stuffed and I am short 700 calories for the day. Do I try to force them, or just let it go.

Does anyone own this book? It is worth the $8.00 I paid for it. I carry it everywhere I go and it always helps me to make the right choices. I just wanted to get the word out about this book if you haven't already heard of or bought it.

I just ate 1/2 a pizza...
and it was sooo good! Lou Malnati's spinach delivered all the way from Chicago to Nashville! And, given the 500 cals in cardio this morning, 600 calories for lunch was no big deal! I still have another 600+ for the rest of the day. I love exercise calories :)

Mimi's Cafe Chocolate Pie?
I can't find any nutritional information ANYWHERE for the slice of pie we got from Mimi's Cafe last night. It was a lovely chocolate mousse delight, similar to Village Inn's French Silk Pie. The slice from Mimis was only as large as putting your fingertips together, with your thumbs touching side by side (does that make…

Iphone App Made Me See Potassium Intake...Scary!
I should have realized this a long time ago, but the new iphone app showed me for days now I am dangerously low on potassium intake. So, I start looking online at how much potassium is in food I generally eat, and can it be that the database is (for the most part) not tracking potassium? I eat a lot of lean cuisines and…

"Jump-Starting Weight Loss"
I've been hearing this phrase a lot lately and am wondering how safe it is. For example, with my 10 Minute Trainer program, I received a '10 Days Lean Jean' plan. It's a 10-day, 1000 calorie plan meant to 'jump start' weight loss while doing the workouts. They say men should add an addition 100 or 200 calories per day.…

Decaf Coffee
I don't often drink coffee because I tend to get jittery, but today someone gave me a couple packets (the travel kind) of decaf coffee, so I brewed one up, added some milk, and drank it down. About fifteen minutes later, my stomach felt like it was cramping, and I had the runs (well, not quite, but pretty close). Does…

Lactose intolerance
I am posting this because I have seen several questions about lactose intolerance. I have been diagnosed lactose intolerant by the doctor. Protein Shake vs. Protein Bars
I need some input from those of you that know the difference between protein shakes and bars, as far as what they do for your body.
