Success on Memorial Day weekend...
Hey guys, just thought it might be helpfull to share ways to successfully eat healthy this weekend if you're planning on attending a BBQ or cook out like I am. Usually everyone has such good advice, and when I see it I have one of those :: why didn't I think of that?:: moments. I am going to a BBQ tonight, but I'm worried…

Any 'from scratch' cookers out there?
The biggest problem I have with tracking my calories is that most of what I eat is totally from scratch. I know that there are health benefits to that alone, by avoiding a lot of the food additives and junk, but it makes it hard to know how many calories I'm taking in. For example, snack today was 3 squares of homemade…

Mexican food?
So tonight is my first night going out to dinner while on this plan. Right now I'm trying to at least stay within the reccommended 2000 calories per day. This is what I really hate . . .
When there's this box of really yummy food and it's only, say 140 calories 2 grams of fat, etc. Healthy stuff. So you eat what you think is a serving and then you look at the serving size and it's about a fourth of what you thought it was. ITS NOT FAIR WHEN A COMPANY SAYS "ONLY 100 CALORIES"*************** (Note on…

Problems with Bars & Shakes?
Does anyone out there have trouble with the bars and shakes? I'm finding my system rejecting even a once or twice daily usage of any sort of diet bar or drink...maybe I'm just really sensitive to preservatives and processed food?

Lo-Cal Cocktails?

KFC
Hello everyone! KFC is a liar and I wanted to call them out on it. I was hoping they were jumping on the band wagon of healthier food with their new marketing campaign but no, not really. Exercise calories?
I have heard several people say that it's important to eat your exercise calories. I'm confused with how it works. If my body needs 1200 calories to function in a day and if the whole idea of exercising is to burn calories, than why do you want to match the calories you burn with the calories you consume? It seems to me…

Sodium Question
Is the sodium level MFP assigns to you accurate (mine is 2500)? And how do you know what your intake should be? I've been noticing that my sodium intake really effects my weight the next day. But I've never really paid attention to it until now. I think that I might need to keep an eye on it a little better.

Creatine Monohydrate
Just curious - I've been reading about creatine mono and noticed that it causes muscles to swell. Is this from a build up of water? How much weight would it cause to be retained? I ask because my protein powder has some in it, and while I've definately noticed more pronounced muscles, I don't think I use enough for the…

Tropicana Light Orangeade Sugar Free
I bought this on sale at Winn Dixie the other day, in a 2 liter bottle like soda but it isn't carbonated. Zero calories, no sugar, tastes great - I see it does have sodium (70) so I guess that's not so hot but it's a nice change over the endless amout of Crystal light I drink.

Was Anyone Else At All Disturbed: Half Ton Teens?
On Sunday, I caught two TLC shows that just blew me away. This sounds ridiculous - but they have profoundly altered what I will eat and what I will feed my children. They have had a huge impact on what I want my children to learn about nutrition and how I hope they will come to feel about food. I was so saddened by what I…
