Death from exercising in Toronto Oct 1
Never has the message “slow and steady wins the race” been more applicable and more ignored. I attended the JDRF Ride for a Cure in Toronto on October 1st (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). Basically, its a couple hundred stationary bikes set up together, each team consists of 5 people who share one bike so in the…

How do you stay motivated?
My weight loss seems to have hit a plateau and I've struggled as a result the last two weeks. I'm resolved not to quit as that's not an option. My question is how do you keep your motivation in times like this? Would love ideas of what works for others when they find themselves in this situation.

Zigzag calories
I seem to be on a bit of a plateau so I'm considering zigzaging my calories to see if that will help to get things moving again. How do YOU log it? Do you just log as normal so that you show over your cals on the high days and under on the low? Or do you adjust your MFP settings so that you always stay in the green? I hate…

Lose fat, but not gain muscle
Hi all! Just a quick bio of me: I'm 18, 5'10 and 153 lbs (and a college student :) ) I've been running around 3 miles 5-6 times a week since the end of July and I'll I've noticed is that I've put on tons of muscle. This, to me, is not very attractive as I look way bulkier than I did before I ever started exercising.…

Avoiding the Midnight Munchies
Hey people, I just wondered if anyone has any tips or ideas on how to avoid snacking urges late at night or after bed. During the day I'm really disciplined but come night time I just want to raid the fridge and cupboards. When you see friends under eating...
What should you do when you see MFPeeps under eating, coming in under 1200 by, say, more than 150- 200 calories all the time? By all the time I mean, almost every day. On top of that adding serious calorie burning exercise,(at LEAST 500 cals)? Do we wait until they complain about not losing weight, or bring it up before…

I keep reading on here how you should eat your exerise calories and how you shouldn't go under a net of 1200 calories and I'm just trying to make sense of this. So I did the math. Scenario 1 BMR 1,600 (sedetary lifestyle) Exercise 400 New BRM 2,000 Food (1,200) Net Calories 800 Scenario 2 BMR 2,000 (active lifestyle) No…

Not enough protein... what do I do differently?
I am having a hard time getting enough protein. I usually only make it to about 2/3 of the recommended, but sometimes only half. I am almost always close on everything else but I can't seem to get there on protein. I know it's important to eat enough protein because it helps repair muscles and I can tell I'm not getting…

This is a great week to go to GNC, with Gold Card's save 20% and a new month for clearance stuff. Menopause weight gain
I have always had a decent weight (5'5 around 120 starting in my 30's; 108-115 when younger) . Menopause hit over the last year (45) and within about 6 mos I have gained 10 lbs, all on my waist/belly. I am so depressed. My MD told me 'you're just eating more". I am NOT. Im eating exactly the same but storing fat. I have…

Exercise calories
When I go to the gym I do 45 minutes of cardio exercise and then I do weights and sit ups and lunges. However, when I enter the weights etc to my exercise diary it does not give me any calories - can anyone explain why this is. Surely they must use calories as well as the cardio exercises. Very puzzled.:noway:
