Apple Watch total calories
Hey guys I’m trying to maintain and I use an Apple Watch (not sure what speck) and I was looking at my total calories burned today which is 2200 (daily moving +exercise) I’ve never thought about this until just now but does that mean that today I could have eaten 2200 calories and still be maintaining or just stick to my…

50+ male after the holidays
Hello fellow calorie counters! I did my historic best this year, meaning that I was less than 6lbs above my goal weight on 1/1. I typically cut in January, and it should be a pretty easy job this time. So, yay me! One thing I do in Jan/Feb is drop the booze completely. Just giving up that craft beer alone helps me lose…

Halloween ruins diet every time
It is January and starting to watch my weight again after the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s holiday. But, I am already dreading Halloween when my diet always seems to end and weight yo-yo’s. How can I (do you) control cravings after giving in to chocolates?

Day 6 and looking for support buddies!
Looking for support and friends and I can do the same for you. My story: In the past, I worried about calories and the number on the scale. I hardly ate, was far from healthy and underweight. Over the years I started to educate myself on nutrition, and eating clean. My goals changed to not being afraid of eating and…

Is this why I gained weight?
I was 9st3 on 23rd of December, then 9st7 on Boxing day. Back to 9st2 on Saturday morning, but I had a nausea bug/stomach flu thing on Sunday and yesterday (but I wasn't sick) - I took medicine for that. Today, I am probably one or two days away from starting my period and I weighed 9st8 just before my tea (7pmish) 😭 I…

5'4-5'5 women what are your maintenance calories?
Hi ya'll , I know everyone is different but i'm curious what other 5'4 women's maintenance calories are. I'm new to maintenance (5'4, 118 lbs) and struggling on 1600 calories a day; i'm still losing! I thought 1600 + eating back all of my exercise calories would have been pretty close, but I guess i'm a busy body and never…

First full year of maintenance/recomping
Each year since I started losing weight I've done a side by side photo so I can see my progress, but this is my first full year of maintenance. Well when I say maintenance I did put on a little during marathon training at the start of the year, about 8lb which i lost very quickly after the race. I then kept at the same…

Maintaining on 1400 calories.....
I lost 51 pounds with MyFitnessPal and now I am succeeding on very steady maintenance. I eat back my exercise calories and I do alternating days of yoga, or light calisthenics (for 30 - 60 min.), or treadmill (for 15 min.) I also practice piano (for 30-60 min.) each day, and that does burn calories. (About 170 calories and…

NOT a Resolution!

Christmas time
I’m just wondering if anyone else is not giving two craps about what they are eating over the next 3 days or so. Struggling mentally with food and exercise and calorie counting I’ve decided to give myself 3days off from it all. I’m still going to stay active and I’m not going to completely binge but I want to have fun with…

Long term success
Hi all, As a proponent of "Best Weight" (put forth by Yoni Freedhoff- which is essentially whatever weight you reach when living the healthiest life you can enjoy), I found this post interesting. I have not been able to maintain my 50 pound loss, but I have been able to maintain a 37ish pound loss (for about 2 years). If I…

Feedbackfrom experienced maintainers please
As of this morning, I am .2 pounds from the upper end of my maintenance range (134-138). Part of me doesn't want to change anything since what I have been doing has worked wonderfully (45 pounds in 5 months). But, I really should not lose much more (136 is the midpoint BMI for my height.) So ... here is my plan: 1. Change…

Finding my maintenance weight
In October 28th 2018 I reached my goal weight of 133 which I chose pretty randomly. I’m 5’3” and 133 is a healthy BMI and I can wear a size 6. I’ve never been able to maintain, so I don’t know how I’ll “know” that I’ve hit my maintenance weight, or what I should expect the range to be. I now weigh 129.5 so I am still…

I haven’t spent much time here but hope to starting in late February when I’m projected to be at my ideal weight range which I’ll call 177-182 lbs. my single point target weight is 177lbs. I’m 5’11” in the height department. It’s based on my belief that, as a middle-aged man (soon to be age 64), my ideal weight is no more…

Eating out for Holiday Dinners
As I learn how to maintain my weight, I find these two ideas would really work during the holidays. 1. Eat Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner out at a restaurant, No leftovers..no nibbling as you cook. You eat the meal..even desert and walk away. 2. Be one of those nuts who run a 3 or 5 k on Thanksgiving. If you ate out and…
