Am I not eating enough?
I thought I had all my calories and macros figured out perfectly for my recomp, but the other day I posted something and a few people commented that my maintenance calories seemed low. I eat 1600 on days I do strength training and 1400 on days I don't. I'm 5 foot 4 and weigh 125. I just did a tdee calculator online…

Activity Level?
Hi! I've been using myfitnesspal for a little over a year to accurately maintain my weight. My dilemma is this: When I started out I was about 122 at 5 foot 7 inches. I felt really confident in my appearance and was consistently in that range, up and down a couple lbs. I'm now working a job at a small vitamin store about 5…

The Psychology of Maintenance-your tips!
I lost slowly and feel that has made it easier to maintain. Plenty of time to ease into a new lifestyle. Even so, after several months I am seeing the numbers slowly bump up (been sick so less active). So I thought it would be fun to get everyone's input on this. What are your best MENTAL tips for maintenance? How do you…

Does maintenance change?

Does 100 cals matter?
Going over 100 calories one day, now and then, makes no difference, but going over maintenance by 100 calories every day for a year results in about 10 lb a year of weight gain. Think about it!

How do I maintain my weight and muscle?
Sorry all a bit new, so very basic question. Ok so I have reached my goal. I've been eating at deficit (1500 cals) for a while and been working out hard. I still want to exercise a lot (because I enjoy it), but I don't want to lose any more weight. I will keep watching my protein and carbs. But shall I just eat my regular…

Indulgence Days
Now that I'm in maintenance mode, I decided I should create a list of days this year to "indulge," i.e., just relax and eat for special occasions; I came up with this list: 1. New Year's Day 2. My birthday 3. Valentine's Day 4. Easter Sunday 5. Memorial Day 6. Independence Day 7. Labor Day 8. Wife's birthday 9. Our…

Downhill skiing and recomp
Kind of an odd and really specific question, but I'm going on a ski trip for five days this weekend. I'm an aggressive skiier and have skied since I was three and do mostly blacks and love moguls. I'm in the middle of a recomp and eat at maintenance on days I do strength training and at a deficit on days I don't or where I…

Strong Curves at home for recomp - doable with next to no equipment?
So I bought the kindle version of the book (and am now shelling out for a paper copy as it's too fiddly to navigate usefully) but am a bit bewildered by all the exercises and options, not to mention the equipment the author assumes you have access to. I work-out at home, and have minimal gear - a mat, some hand-weights, a…

Nutrition & fitness during pregnancy
I'm not really sure where to post about this topic but figured here was a good fit. My boyfriend and I have been talking recently about having a baby. I've always been super keen to be a mom but wanted to get closer to my weight and fitness goals before we conceived because I wanted to be healthy for our baby. Now that…

Steps to Actity level?
I'm on vacation from work. I took 10k steps today but that was mostly walking to McDonald's twice once for coffee and once for lunch. Does that still count as lightly active? Been going overboard lately and am set at .5 pounds a week. Am I depriving myself?

Weight the same, thighs and glutes larger
Hi, I have been doing strong lifts 5x5, hammer and chisel and insanity off and on for 4-5 months. I alternate the workouts around the 5x5. Problem is, my thighs and glutes are getting bigger, butt I'm fine with, thighs not so much. Could this be swelling from so much lower body exercise, I am constantly sore and am gonna…

When you are doing a recomp, do you eat at maintenance?
I just want to clarify...when doing a recomp, do you eat at maintenance? I currently get 100 g of protein per day. Most of my cals are from carbs bc they are my source of energy. My maintenance cals are 2100 per day. I'm 5'8" and 131 lbs right now. I just did a slow bulk and went from 126 lbs to 131 lbs over eight months.…

Do I really burn 4000-5000 calories?
My current goal is recomp by gaining muscle. MFP uses my Garmin watch and logged exercise to come up with a daily calories out figure and it's often very high -- 2 days back it was 5775 calories! I'm fairly active, have a fast metabolism and I'm a bit fidgety, always moving and flexing my muscles. And I can easily eat 4000…

Why are carbs important @ maintenance
Just having a play about with my settings on here, debating whether to go to maintenance. Anyway, I notice that carbs jumps up to 50% of my macros at maintenance, now I am surprised that is so high, I kinda thought it would be a fairly equal split of protein and carbs (although I guess that at maintenance not everyone is…

Ready for recomp?
Hi all! I'm pretty new to using the forum, but need some advice on recomp. I've hit a weight that I feel good about, but maybe I should think about building more muscle. I've been doing a simple circuit for like 10 mins a day: sit ups, push ups, leg lifts, butt kickers, wide leg squats and regular squats. Does anyone have…

Am confused by lack of agreement between Garmin Conect and MyFP
I measure activity on my Garmin Forerunner for the day, then sync it to MFP, but the calories never seem to agree. Today. Garmin gave me 215 active kcalories, so I sync it to MFP which tells me I've only earned 8 kcal from exercise! Any ideas why? Sometimes it seems to agree quite well, but most times not

Frequent Steriod Injections & Carb Craving Keeps me Gaining
Had cervical epidural injections today, 4th steroid injection in 5 weeks! Nurse said peeps typically gain between 5-10 lbs each procedure but guess I'm lucky. Only gained 12lbs in 5 weeks but am angry 'cause I couldn't maintain weight even staying w/in daily cals & exercising w/trainer 5-6x weekly! You wake famished &…

Maintaining weight but eating too many "bad" carbs
I have been maintaining my weight for 2.5 years. It has been relatively easy, and healthy eating is just a natural for me. However, for the past few weeks, I have set up my carb craving again ... Gaining weight during recomp
Hi guys, I started a recomp after realizing I was skinny fat and so far I think it's going pretty good. However, since I had the completely wrong mindset for weight loss previously, the scale going up really scares me. I know the most obvious reason is that muscle weighs more than fat, but I can't help worrying that I'm Or…

Body Recomp fail
