I can run now!
On New Year’s Eve morning approximately three and a half months ago, I was cruising around the app store on my phone, looking for a new form of entertainment, when I came across a little $5.00 app called “Couch to 5K.” Now, I very rarely spend more than a dollar on any app, but just out of curiosity, I clicked on it. It…

A funny NSV for me.
I was walking around the hospital the other day, a coworker stops me and says, "Did you get a boob job?" Uhm I laughed and may have even blushed. I assured her that I hadn't. She couldn't pin point why they just seemed more prominent. Well today the receptionist looks at me and says, "Ida, you're getting really thin…

I touched the outside of my right foot with my left hand during stretching - and my left foot with my right hand! 3. I know what it feels like to feel bloated during TOM - more importantly to not feel bloated when it isn't TOM. 4. As I was…

70 pounds down, 60 to go!
I promised myself that I'd post at the halfway mark to remind myself of how far I've come in under a year (I started losing weight in July 2010). Since I've started losing weight and taking back some control in my life, I've lost 70 pounds, ran a 5K on Thanksgiving and an 8 mile race last weekend. I've lost a small person…

awesome NSV - back in my wedding tux pants from 1994
Four or five months ago, I told my wife and kids I wanted to get back into my wedding tux (pants were the real issue). I tried them on for the family and the pants were a good 3 inches too small in the waist. I was sure I could really get back into them, as I remembered them being pretty tight even back in the day. I just…

NSV and Scale Victory!
First, I am so happy that I have lost 20 lbs!! I was hoping to lose 20 lbs by June 18 when I joined MFP, but I have already reached that goal. I can't believe it!! Second, I am so proud that I was able to drive past the drive-thru's!! It may sound silly, but I had been out running errands for quite some time last night…

This is getting expensive :)
I'm fairly new to MFP, but I've been working on loosing weight for about a year or so. I've realized that loosing weight and getting healthy is getting pretty pricey, but not in the buying low-fat food and going to the gym kind of way. So here it is. Nothing fits anymore. Shirts, I can get away with a little longer I can…

NSV and pictures of my journey
I had a NSV yesterday...I saw a friend I hadn't seen for 2 years for the first time. I ran up to him and gave him a big hug. He tooka step back and said "DAMN! You've lost weight...you look great!" He got an even bigger hug after that! :) I am 24 years old and 5'8" and when I started this journy I weight between 175 -…

I gotta Whistle.. NSV
I have not been whistled at since..... Since I cannot remember when... so a long time ago, years and years. On Monday (another NSV) I did my first run outside in the real world (instead of on my treadmill). I ran 3 miles at a 12 minute mile pace. While I was running a person driving past whistled at me. Boy did that make…

My first NSV post
I have had a few NSV's since starting MFP in mid-January (now 12 weeks in and 30 pounds down), but I have kept them to myself, because I don't like to brag. I also don't want to discourage my wife and daughter who are also losing weight, but not as fast. However, I do want to verbalize them, as much as a confidence builder…

physio is working!
Yay - this is just a mini success but a big one as I think it's going to help me hugely over the next few months! My physio told me today that I can start running again! As a background story - last year I did the 15 Peaks Challenge in Wales (15 mountains in under 24 hours) and busted up my knees, even though I completed…

NSV just when I needed it
After a really crappy couple of weeks at work that has caused me to start to lose my newly established (since January) positive attitiude & dedication to healthy eating and exercise and stretched my willpower to the limits I had a very timely NSV. I forced myself to go for a run tonight (really didnt want to)…

Passed the Donut Test!
A little NSV for me this morning and thought I would share! I work in an office, so I'm sure others can relate to this story. Every week (seriously) one of two things happen: (1) someone brings in a box of donuts in the morning or (2) mysterious baskets or trays full of sugary treats like cookies and chocolate delicacies…

Mini NSV
So today I tried on a pair of jeans that I haven't worn in two years. I used to not even be able to button them at all and could barely pull them over my thighs. When I tried them on today I got them to button! They are still a little tight and created a muffin top lol but just the fact that I am so close to being able to…

The best NSV I've ever had
I just had to share that I had a MAJOR NSV last night. My husband, although very supportive of my weight loss, doesn't think I need to lose weight so he rarely notices when I have. Last night I tried on a bikini I bought in hopes that it would motivate me to work harder. I am not completely comfortable in it but I took a…

Fabulous, blush worthy non scale victory
So I've been talking to a guy I met online, mostly through texts, but we send a lot of pictures (nothing dirty I don't do that!) And I sent him a picture last night, and he blew up my phone with compliments. BLEW UP MY PHONE! "you look awesome" "You look really beautiful" "hot hot hot" "I'm being serious, you look so…

NSV... my wedding rings
Hi MFPers, So I've been on a weight loss journey since January. I had DD1 in 2006 and DD2 in 2009, and haven't worked out since I got pregnant with #1. After the birth of #2, my wedding rings did not fit.... they were too tight to wear comfortably, so most days I didn't even bother to try to wear them. I hurt me inside a…

My 2nd NSV :)
Hey everyone! Just thought that i'd drop in and tell you about my new NSV. Today i was sat in my livingroom and my mother turned to me and said, "Just how mch weight have you lost?" small victory but meant a ton!!!
I had myself a small little victory today, I pulled out a bag of scrubs I have kept for years thinking some day I may just get back into these, and guess what they all fit, some were even big. I haven't worn some of these since I started my job at the hospital 12 yrs ago. Some I bought and never got to wear, thought I was…

NSV..... AWESOME!
So, I have really been struggling to lose my weight this time (3rd baby)..... Though I haven't lost much, in the way of pounds or inches, I have been trying really hard since December. I'm trying to enjoy my time with my kids before I have to go back to work, rather than be consumed with weight loss...... I went to a…

two months progress pics...
i thought since i've had a baby and i'm almost 30, i was just destined to have a flabby mom-belly forever. i had accepted the fact that i would never again wear a bikini in my life. well, one day i just decided i was going to prove to myself that I had control over my body. so i've been on MFP for a little over two months,…

NSV!!!
I have been at this weight loss thing for 9 weeks now, had lost 19 pounds before finding MFP, and all my office mates know that I'm losing. The other people in the plant, however, don't know...so I'm standing in front of the vending machine, deciding among the healthiest options, and someone asked me what I was doing to…

I Finally Cleaned out my closet!!!!!
Yes I did, I finally got around to cleaning out my closet and weeding out the clothes that were too big and just plain sloppy looking on me! I've only lost 62 pounds so far and I still have another 93 pounds to go but I felt such an accomplishment! I filled up one big brown garbage bag to give to the goodwill and I also…

6 Month Results
Results after six months of strength training on a caloric deficit, with no cardio. I started out on a 5x5 program and just recently switched to 3x5 because the weights were too heavy to keep progressing on 5x5; same program, just lowered the volume. Will be dropping down to 1x5 within the next couple of months before…
