P90X, Days 5 & 6 -- one week down! (basically)
Well, made it through the legs and back episode the other night. Struggled a bit with the wall exercises, still am not properly set up to do pullups (and now the storms hitting parts of the country have apparently stalled my chinup bar delivery!). So, holding steady or maybe slightly increasing lat pull-down reps, and…

Average/Max Heart Rate
I have been noticing on another thread topic I post in. My Average and Max Heart Rates are always lower than everyone. Any ideas? Is it b/c I have less fat to lose? For example on EA Active 2 My average HR was 108 and Max HR was 150. On the same workout my gf had average HRM 131 and Max HR of 184. We both workout equally…

long runs & training question
Hello :-) I am preparing for my 1st half marathon (Dallas Rock N' Roll half) at the end of March. Since our weather has been so crazy (nice, sunny, 70 degree weather followed immediately by snow, temps in the 20s -40s, ice) my training has been mostly indoors, on the treadmill. I have been able to complete a couple of…

Chalene Extreme Question
Hi everyone! I am hoping to get some advice on my next beach body program. I will be finishing my first round of Insanity in 2 more weeks (love it btw, but my knees need some time off before round 2) and I was considering Chalene Extreme for my next program. I have been stuck at a plateau for about two weeks now no matter…

Thinking about a HRM
Since starting in January 2011 I have been pretty happy with how things are going. I have been reading on here about the HRM and want to make sure I am getting the most accurate amount of calories to record. I do program my weight and age into the machines I use at the gym before starting (elliptical or treadmill). And…

Beach Running - what goes on my feet?
My coworkers have convinced me that if I run on the beach I will improve my time on pavement. I know I need to go slower on the beach, and I know it is going to hurt at first. I am going to start by running no more than 5 minutes on the dry than move to the wet sand for five. Back and forth. So what do I put on my feet? I…

So I have always thought of myself as a pretty healthy person, especially as of the past 2 years, (cut lots of bad habits out of my life; added some good ones) I work out atleast 4 times a week, take vitamines, and not only do I watch my calories, but the calories that I do eat I make sure are of good wholesome foods that…

Anyone getting ready for their 1st 10k????
Hi, I've never run a 5k or a 10k, but I registered for the 10k at the end of April in Champaign Illinois. I don't know what to expect race day, or throughout training. I seemed to have hit a plateau and am having a hard time pushing past it. I was up to 4 miles a run, but I got sick and my kids got sick and since them I'm…

Activity: To Log or Not To Log?
That is the question. I wrote this a month ago and it's probably time to post it again: A constant question on the forum is "Should I count "X" activity as exercise?". The "X" can include everything from standing, to housecleaning, to yard work, to golf, to sex--and everything in between. Usually it is some one new to MFP…

gym membership prices
I noticed today that the annual membership has gone up at my gym by £150 pound. This makes it just short of £500 a year which is very expensive for the state of the gym. I am not sure if I am calculating my exercise correctly
Hi all, I have now started adding in my daily exercise and am surprised that my calories are going up? Calories burned working in a concession stand
I occasionally work concessions at my son's high school, generally 3-4 hours of being on my feet, constantly moving. My normal activity level is low because I work a sit-down job, so on the days I work the concessions, I would like to get credit. I don't sweat or do a lot of heavy lifting so I don't want to get too much…
