However, I was curious as to what a reasonable time line of training might be? We would be running and working out a minimum of 4…

National Body Challenge/Motivation
I don't know about any of you but I'm having a hard time keeping up with my exercise. I have the motivation, rather I have the want to do it, I just find excuses. Any cyclists out there? New or experienced.
I've ridden casually all my life but recently (first as a weight loss exercise) I've really been getting into it. Currently I'm averaging 15mph, and I ride for an hour every other day, sometimes everyday, it depends on my schedule. I've decided to start training for the MS150 ride in the spring. Any others out there with…

I was just wondering if there was any advice from runners or lifters, about a month ago I started getting a really sore hip after running. Jogging in place
So, when i am stuck in the house with the kids all day and I'm watching TV...instead of just sitting on my butt, I started out walking in front of the TV...that lead to jogging in front of the TV. It's easy to do and burns tons of calories...way more than sitting there and snacking! :) I had a major weight loss about 7…

Getting depressed with recipes
There are a bunch of foods I like a lot; BBQ Pulled Beef or Pork, pizza, steak snadwiches, etc etc. I have found websites, such Sparks.com for example, that give "healthy" meals. I don't know what these sites and books are smoking, but I think I might need some. They give these awesome recipes and then I find out that for…

Hi Everyone! I signed up for a half to mix up my (nonfunctional) workout routine. I was training and then got injured about a month ago. I'm just getting back in to things but have a lot of questions. Any advice is appreciated! 1. Where do you run? How do you keep track of your mileage? 2. Is running on the treadmill THAT…

Attention males: Belly and love handle frustrations
Hi there, First of all, this site is amazing. I'm 8 pounds away from my original goal, 170lbs. I'm 6'1, and I like the way I look now, except for the freaking love handles and belly who won't go away. I was counting on them disappearing by the time I reach my goal, but at this stage, I'm not sure if that will happen. I'd…

My Hear Rate
Ok, I have a question...my "cardio" heart rate is suppose to be 153 based on weight, age, etc...I can usually hit this target no problem within 5-6 minutes of cardio...but yesterday for some reason I couldn't push past 147. I tried three different machines and 45 minutes worth of cardio, and I still couldn't reach 153.…

P90X - Week 2
I didn't quite follow the rules on week one. I started on a Wednesday and played catch-up, but I'm doing the Lean cycle here on out. I'm not a fan of the cardio or yoga workouts, so I opt for the elliptical trainer at the gym on those days. My favorite workout so far: Shoulders/Arms. Ab Ripper X is another story... Goal…

I love the c25K application for running. Does anyone know if there is one for cycling? I don't have any fancy gadgets to track my speed. Do I need one to use an app.? On the days I do not run, I ride my bike and pull "little man" in the bike trailer. Thanks for the tips...Lydia

The Ugly Truth
The Ugly Truth The body does burn a higher percentage of calories from fat in the 'fat burning zone' or at lower intensities. But, at higher intensities, you burn a greater number of overall calories which is what you should be concerned about when trying to lose weight. The chart below details the fat calories expended by…

Find a way to replace an activity with a workout!
Now that daylight savings has started again I am riding my bike to work. 32km (20mi) with a big hill in the middle means I am burning 600 calories each way. So 1200 calories. What I realised is that the old "park further away and walk" advice is so true and can be taken to the next level! Ride to Work if you can people!!!…
