i love my heart rate monitor!!
So I recently purchased a Polar F6 for myself and one for my mother also. I'm QUITE content with it. I originally wanted to get one because I had noticed that the general consensus of the board was that the machines overestimate your calorie burn and you might be overeating because of the misinformation. Well, I found out…

I was looking on Dailymile.com for local races. There is one in May at our local zoo! It's a 5K so I signed up :noway: I haven't run a mile in YEARS! But I'm starting the couch to 5k today...so I'm thinking this run will be a good motivator!

WOW! Walk at Home!!
I have been searching for videos to pump up my exercise routine, and well...make it less routine. Scale of 1-5 "Dancing with the Stars" 1 for exercise 3 for learning dance steps. "10 Minute Solution" 2-3 stars. There is no transition if you want to do the full 50 minutes, but pretty good for the 10 minute workouts "Slim in…

S.B.F. Challenge. . . December 7th
Morning, everyone. . . Today is my church job followed by the gym and the steam room. I am having a very hard time stress-wise right now. I've stepped up to be put in charge of the strike pay team at the union and I knew it was a huge, stressful job, but underestimated how huge and how stressful. I feel as if I'm working…

Running for Weight Loss? Slow Down.
I found this article and thought I would try what it suggests. I usually run at 4.5 to 5.0 mph on the treadmill for 35-45 min. everyday. However, now that I have my hrm that kind of running puts me in the 80%-90% heart beat range. If I want to lose the weight the article said I had to slow my heart rate down to 60%-70%…

Be careful....
As I skimmed through a few conversations I noticed a suggestion about taking a class at your gym (if they're offered)....just a small piece of advice. If you're looking for something different, and you're thinking of taking a class, I would suggest watching one first if you can, being realistic about what you saw and maybe…

I live in Wisconsin and rent a duplex where we have to keep an entire driveway clear of snow. Just wondering if anyone knows how much a half hour of snow removal would burn in calories. It's definitely a good workout but I'm already sick of snow.

Exercise with Baby?
Okay, so I was doing my pilates tape today before DS went down for a nap which translates to 'Mommy is on the floor, lets see how many toys I can bring her and use her as a jungle gym.' He is 14 months, so telling him to go away doesn't work. Does anyone use an exercise tape that includes baby? Or toddler I guess in this…

Shapely Secrets
Has anyone done Shapely Secrets? I'm doing it now. I have to say IT WORKS. When you think 7 minutes you think it's gonna be easy. It's not. The positions are kind of awkward at first, but after a couple days you get used to them. Your muscles hurt the next day. I like that because then I know it's working. You all should…

What to do about bat wings
Ok! So I went shopping and bought cute new tiny & hip clothes. The problem is one of the shirts I love so much is very short sleeved (right one the edge of where my shoulder curves). proper amount of water
Not sure if this has been covered here or not, but I'll say so anyway. to get the proper amount of water take your weight and divide by 2 and that is how many ounces of water that you should be drinking. That was found in a fitness mag article written by a doctor... not sure what the mag was. But it does sound about right.…

idea! and question.
I just totally thought of an idea! Currently I have my calories set at 1200. Problem with that by lunch time I have come really close to going over with only 20 calories to go (such as the case today) and then when dinner comes obviously will put me way over. Lately, now that I am back tracking again dinner comes around…
