spin class
I was soooo not motivated to go to the gym today. I went! (though, honestly, I still don't feel very motivated.) I went to spin class and I don't know what happened. Generally, I love spin class-once I get my butt there, that is! But today, ten minutes into it, and I felt tightness in my chest and dizzy. It was hard to sit…

Heart rate questions - aerobic v. anaerobic
Yes, it's me again...full o' questions as usual! Thanks to all who respond, if I haven't said it before. I do the elliptical between 20-30 minutes (depending on mood, time, and what else I have planned at the gym). I was told by my trainer to keep my heart rate between 130 and 140, not to go over 140. I use the random…

Heart Rate Monitor question
As we all now HRM is the best way to measure calories burnt. However, I started wondering how does it work? I mean what is the mechanism to transform heart rate and some information about your body (weight, height and age) into calories? Does anyone of you came across a good explanation? Did you find anything interesting…

Standing burns calories!
Ok, so I'm on my laptop in the kitchen, and I decided to stand and play with it instead of sitting down and watching television. Then I was recalling how I heard that standing burns calories. I did some research and found that just standing alone for ten minutes burns 32 calories. I've been standing rocking back and forth…

Exercise Ball Chair
Hi! I recently had a thread going about sitting on an exercise ball instead of a chair all day at work. Ive been on mine for the last two days, and just wonder if others are doing this, and what their results might be. I've read alot about it and gotten information on both sides. "its great for you' and "its too much…

http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml I started it last week, so today was my 5th training session. A 30-minute workout works the whole body
A stale fitness program is like a stale pair of old shoes -- you know how they'll feel and you once loved using them, but you just don't want to go near them anymore. We all need a little variety in our workouts. In fact, an excessively repetitive workout program is a major cause of fitness burnout. If you're looking to…
