From there its just partitioning my nutrients based on the phase of my periodization. Right now im trying to gain weight so im eating a lot. Eating slightly more carbs…

Brownies
15 weeks ago my husband and I bought a box of brownie mix. We didn't make it for that first week, and then the next week (14 days ago today) I started this program. He's been "bugging" me about these brownies. He understood/stands what I don't want to make them, but he still wants them  Since he is having a HORRIBLE…

How low can you go, Porkchop?
I am trying to figure out how many calories I consumed in the 5 ounces of pork chop I just had for dinner. From what I've found online, it ranges from about 150 calories for 3 ounces to about 340 calories for 3 ounces. Does anyone have any idea of a good estimate for 5 ounces of pork cut off the bone? I don't want to…

Starvation mode?
I never eat the recommended 1200 calories a day, and it always says that I could be putting my body into starvation mode. But if I'm not hungry, why should I eat more? And I don't understand how you lose weight if you're not eating less calories than you're burning? Can anyone help me figure this out?

yogurt + oatmeal = SO GOOD
Ok so by accident I stumbled across my new favorite snack/breakfast item. I was making meals for the next day and I mixed some oatmeal with yogurt and left it in the fridge overnight. When I went to eat it the next day I discovered that the oatmeal absorbs all the liquid from the yogurt, making the oatmeal soft and leaving…

protein question
On another site that I also use, they recommend eating 50% carbs, 30% protein and 20% fats. It was relatively easy to follow, with 5 to 6 mini meals consisting of a half cup protein, 1 cup carbs. Give or take, each meal came to 200 to 300 calories. And when I was sticking to it, I was losing a pound or so a week, so it was…

A wonderful break-feast...!!!
My hubby is no help with my weight loss! Though he is losing weight (because of what I'm cooking for dinner) he still likes to eat like a king. I let him fix his own breakfast and he will eat pancakes, eggs, bacon, and toast. It all smells wonderful while he cooks it but I resist the urge to try anything. Usually for…

I don't feel like eating veggies
I usually get plenty of vegetables and fruits, but the last few days I have had to make myself eat them. I don't know what is wrong. I don't dislike veggies. I am not craving salads or fruit. I am worried because I am eating a lot of empty carbs. I am staying in my cals because of exercise. I guess I just need to confess…

Got me thinking -
Any thoughts on the GNC style suppliments - Chormium Picolinate, L-lysine, L-carnatine, multi-vitamins, etc. I know that a well rounded diet should cover most of the bases for minerals, vitamins, and the like, but what you experienced regarding suppliments? I used chromium for a while, as well as EAS "Betagen", and…

Carnation Instant Breakfast
So, does anyone else have any positive/negative experience with drinking this stuff? I notoriously under-eat and it's been a good chunk of calories in the morning that doesn't upset my stomach while I'm waking up. What I'm worried about is the high sugar content, but then they have a ton of vitamins in them... Just…

Choosing an Eating Style: Quantity vs. Quality
There are many roads to take on this journey to a total lifestyle change, and what works for one, doesn't work for everyone else. I think it's interesting to take a look at your own eating style to determine how to take on healthy eating and weight loss. So here's a question: I have a one-pound Hershey's chocolate bar. I…

Digital Food Scale
I purchased an amazing digital food scale this weekend that has over 900 pre-programmed food items in it. For example, if you put a banana on the scale, it will tell you exactly how many Kcal, prot, carbs etc for the portion you have chosen. It's really cool. You can even program meals into it! I love it because my…

Macaroni and Cheese
Has anyone noticed that the "prepared" nutritional data on the box is kinda high. I wondered where all the calories were coming from, so I added up the "unprepared" data, the information for the milk and the information for the margarine, and discovered that there are almost 100 calories fewer per serving than the box…
