Late night sitting here thinking about weight loss..
So, I thought about going to bed.. but, I also thought about weight loss. I need to lose weight. I just keep putting it off. I'll login here every few months.. feel really good about it for a few days and then I'll just stop coming back. I don't know why. Lazy? Lack of initiative or motivation? Anyone else up tonight…

Motivation for beginners
No matter how much weight you have to lose, don't look at the big number trying to get to there, it will end up driving you insane. People tend to overlook this and that is one reason why they fall of the wagon and abandon losing weight. Instead, focus your weight loss in increments of 5 or 10 lbs to achieve. Don't put a…

Press restart
I was a pretty consistent MFP user a few years ago but led a very sedentary life - you know the usual desk job, which in turn led to boredom and constant snacking to get me through the day. I should have known better, as I have a degree in nutrition and sport science (don't laugh!). Then I quite my job to work from home,…

Newly diagnosed with PCOS..questions...
Hello All. Today, I was most likely diagnosed with PCOS. Obviously, none of the tests are back, but the Dr. was pretty confident that is what is going on. Some history: haven't had a regular period in 17 years; diagnosed with diabetes in June of last year; started Metformin regularly in October. Since the end of November,…

Nursing Mommas
How do I make sure I have an adequate calorie count? Right now - my goals are based on 1.5lbs lost a week, with 30 minutes of exercise/5 days a week. It has me at 1580 calories. Does that seem too low? Just want to make sure I'm getting enough calories so I can lose weight but maintain my milk supply. Thanks in advance for…

Does any one get this?
When your friends, people you work with etc realise that you're losing weight, they comment excessively about it, i.e if you're eating a salad and they go "is that all you're having" etc Also those who are healthy weight but want to lose a few pounds (like me), do you often get people say "oh you don't need to lose weight,…

Added Exercise Calories
I guess everyone has opinions on certain areas of weightloss and they differ according to programs, so I'm sure I will get some different answers on this. I've set my calorie intake to lose 2# a week and that puts me at about 1876 in calories. When I entered my goals into myfitnesspal, I did NOT put in any exercise. I do…

How do I keep myself motivated?
Hi everyone. I'm 18, 5'4 and 185lbs (not the heaviest I've been!). My problem is that I can't keep myself motivated; I start a healthy eating plan or take up jogging or Zumba but soon become bored and I start to fade into lazy old routines. I would really appreciate tips for motivation. I'm embarrassed by my weight and…

Am I off to a good start with the walking?
I'm totally out of shape. As in, I get winded just climbing the stairs. Every time I try to run I feel like my chest is on fire. My asthma doesn't help, but obviously this would all be a lot easier if my body were stronger and lighter. I've been mostly sedentary for years and I really want to change that. So I've started…

Why are the numbers so different?
Here on MFP it says if I want to lose 2 lbs a week I need to eat 1590 calories, and then any exercise I do. However, on a TDEE calculator it says I need 2391 to maintain my weight, which means that I would only be allowed 1391 a day. This is a difference of 199 calories a day! In a month this would be the difference of…
