Resting Heart Rate
I am 61, my weight varies between 154 and 159 and I have been on a plateau for many weeks now. :grumble: I have been reading all your comments on HRMs, eating calories burned off etc. and have tried everything. My concern is that I have a resting heart rate between 42 and 47 and when I am exercising at my hardest I only…

important to eat after excersize?
Hi I just started this journey- and I want each step to be as effective as possible. I am sticking to 1200 -1300 cal diet. So my question is do I need to eat after excersizing or can I skip it and save those calories for the other 3 meals + 1 snack in the day? Will not eating cause my muscles to not build up as fast? (if…

I have been moving from my upstairs apartment across town to another upstairs apartment. Who woulda thunk that I was burning between 2500-3000 cals for just 4 hours of that??? (not to mention my calves and arms are dying!!!!) hehe. maybe all the fast food won't impact my waist-line

Yay I did it!
Today I burned 800 cals!! I can't believe it!! I just kept telling myself "50 more cals I can do it... Just 50 more!!" soon that turned into 800cals!! I kept my HR on average 158 for about 52mins on my stationary bike... and when I needed a small rest I would jog to my kitchen take a few sips of water and jog back and…

S.B.F Challenge...July 21
Good morning ladies. I hope you all are healthy and kicking some bottom today! I managed to get in 60 minutes of Taebo. I didn't put in the DVD I had wanted so I didn't really want to do it but I didn't want to have to stop the DVD either. So even though I wasn't too excited about it I did do 60 minutes. I also have to…

Exercising at Home and during Travel
I've tried just about everything I can at home and while away from home on business to remain active. During the work week I manage a full five days every morning in the gym, 1-2 hours of combined strength training and cardio. But on the holidays and during travel, it's a lot harder to keep pace with my usual routine. No…

MFP Biking Group-7/14/2008
Another new weeks, gang! How's everyone feeling? Looks like some of us got out riding last week, even if I took a break! But, I'm back on the pedals today! Got in 18.5 miles this morning--hubby even went along so it took me longer to do it since I had to go slow for him but it was fun to have company! Planning on doing…

Get It Off Your Chest
Think about the activities you do every day, like opening doors, putting the toothpaste back on the top shelf of your medicine cabinet, carrying grocery bags into the house, and so on — what do they have in common? They all involve using the muscles of your torso. Want to participate in sports, or just improve your ability…

S.B.F. Challenge. . .July 20
It's raining! Hopefully that will break the heat and smog-tasticness! Today is dance class, and walking at least one way (about 20 minutes). Yesterday I got an hour walk to make up to my calorie goal after the weight session. Happy exercising! :flowerforyou:

Richard Simmons anyone??
I just found his Sweatin to the oldies volume 1 and 2 for 8.95 each. It's on Thelakesidecollection.com I hate cardio but I never had a hard time getting through these. Somebody out there might be as excited as me:laugh: -Adrienne:heart:

Good Morning Everyone!! Rest Day for me today - unless you count painting the outside railings rest...DH has put me to work! i hate painting! JD - read about your desire to pole vault! That is cool! I am so happy that you are feeling strong enough to get out there again! I have no coordination so events like that…

Used to be 220 pounds, now i'm down to 158! it's been a crazy ride....i'm happy with my weight, and i have an athletic body that puts on bulk easily....i love to dance and would love a nice long leaner body without always resorting to intense aerobics like turbo jam and running (i love both a lot, tho!) saw some…

MFP Biking Challenge July 6
Another week for the MFP Biker Gang! What is everyone's pledge/goal for riding for the coming week? I'd love to say 100 miles for myself but it's supposed to be raining for like the next 4 days :grumble:, so I'm not sure I'll get in 100 miles. I will set a goal though of upping my distance by 10% again-that means doing one…

S.B.F Challenge...July 19
By now, y'all should know that if I'm up at the butt-crack of dawn, must mean I'm teaching yoga. Yep, even though I don't feel well. I couldn't find a sub. Oh well, by the third hour I should be downright goofy - "ok, class, we are going to do an hour of savasana." I think I can make it though all three classes though. I…

Workouts
Ok, I have certain days that I workout certain body areas. Days 1 and 4 I do a short cardio, and work upper body (arms, shoulders, back, etc) with some abs. Days 2 and 5 I do a short cardio and work the lower body. Then on day 3 ( and often times 6 and 7) I try and double the cardio time I do on the other days, with a lot…

Now I am humiliated???
I hope I'm not making an idiot of myself. Someone sent me a note saying my HRM might be off since I burned so many calories yesterday working out. It is a fairly new monitor and when I log in my calories it clocks it in within a few calories of the exercise calories programmed on MFP. I am now feeling stupid, humiliated…
