July 18 MFP Runners Club
Today was our timed run for bootcamp. We get timed at 30 minutes to see how far we can go. We were at the park today and the loop we ran is 1 mile with a big hill. I managed to go around 3 times in under 34 minutes. The hill and humidty is a killer. Have good run today everyone.

S.B.F Challenge...July 18
Good morning ladies. I decided to post early. I had a horrible night last night! Our son woke up crying twice, the tornado sirens in the next town were going off for like 30 minutes for no reason, and then later my husband had one of those nightmares that jerked him awake which woke me up. I had crazy stupid dreams. Ugh.…

Working out in Des Plaines
Hello Everyone, Does anyone live in the Des Plaines, IL area that would like to set up a work out group. The reason I ask is I know it takes a lot to get some people motivated to work out and then its easier to work out with a partner then it is alone. So if anyone is a member at X-sport Fitness and would like a work out…

This week I burned just over 1200cals!! I never did this before! Originally I set myself a goal of burning 1100 a week but never made it. I brought down my goal to 1000cals, and since I got my HRM I havent stopped! Ive been burning at least 200cals a day with cardio, and today I just finished Jillian Michaels 30 day shred…

Entertaining myself and others at the gym
Bored with the bad magazines and sports TV at my gym, I tried something radical yesterday . . . I took my knitting with me on the treadmill and stationary bike (did not try knitting on the elliptical trainer as I value my consciousness too much ;-). Oddly enough, my heart rate was actually a few beats higher on both…

July 17 MFP Runner's club
Good morning! I'm so excited! I actually went out in the rain to run. This is my very first time and it was fabulous! I've run in the rain before only because it started to rain part way through. This morning, I looked out the window and it wasn't raining but very cloudy. The moment I stepped onto my porch, it started to…

I have a hard time mentally giving up exercise for a rest day......I KNOW I should. But my thoughts are....I know there are going to be scheduling issues that won't allow me to exercise so I feel like I should exercise when I can. Do y'all have regularly scheduled day off from exercise? How often? Thanks!

Easy way to pass time!! And a Question!!
I found it so easy to pass time on my stationary bike by turning on my favorite electro-rock radio station and then use my handle bars as my bongo drums! haha When I did this my heart rate went up. When I stopped playing the "drums" my HR went back down a bit. And then once again when I played the "drums" on my handle…

Running in Water
As I have mentioned before, I do most of my workouts in the pool. I run in the water for about 30 mins a day. I run 2 laps and then I break the current with 2 laps and so on. I think that it must burn more calories than land running because you have water resistance against you. Does anyone know how to log that into my…

I pushed myself
I burned 550 calories in 40 minutes on the elliptical. I usually only burn a little over 400...so I'm happy with myself today.

Stronger, Better, Faster Fitness Challenge, July 16
So, msnbc has an article entitled "Feeling hungry can make you happy" - Sometimes I feel like I'm the happiest person alive  http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25680029/ It is something we should remember though. Or at least I should. There's nothing wrong with being hungry. The point I need to remember is not to get too…

Is it really this easy?
I am 21 years old. I think that mean my max heart rate should be 199... According to this web site http://exercise.about.com/cs/fitnesstools/l/bl_THR.htm for average fitness my heart rate should be between 119 and 159. I can stay comfortably at about 140-150. Im comfortable there... I'm not panting there but I am…

Denise Austin - rant
warning: highly opinionated paragraph to follow. So, some of you may recall I ordered a few dvds 10 days ago or so. I guess I don't *totally* regret the Denise Austin ones but I don't know if I'm going to be able to bring myself to use them too often. When you guys said her voice was annoying I thought, 'okay I can handle…

Urban Poling
Hi Everyone, I went to a demo a month ago about nordic walking/ Urban Poling and fell in love with it. I have already noticed a difference in my waist as you really swing your arms and plant the poles down. I find it very rhthmic and have found that I have added a lot of speed into my walk, which helps shed the calories.…

Yes, Another HRM question...
I am preparing to get a HRM. One site I was reading about the Polar F6 said something about a strap that you put on. Do you always have to wear a strap around your chest or is it just the monitor that looks like a watch? Thanks for your help everyone!!!

I am peeved....heart monitor suggestion
I walked roughly 70 min and 5.5miles and the calorie counters I've checked out say anyway from 386-436 calories burnt!!! :noway: I didn't have the mojo to run any, and I know that increasing my intensity and decreasing duration (which I have typically been doing) will burn more. Just discouraging.:grumble: BUT, I do…
