Too much protein?
I went over my recommended protein intake today (by 20g, but stayed under in calories). Is that a bad thing? What does too much protein do? Thanks!

Protein intake
Can going over your protein intake be a bad thing? Will it cause you to gain weight?

Jones Creek Beef
I've been buying Jones Creek Beef (grass-fed) for a while now. But I've run into a problem with them as of late. I've noticed that their beef tends to be substantially lower in calories and fat than other brands of grass-fed beef. Initially, this sounded great, as I am trying to lose weight, but I'm having a hard time…

Food guidance
Hi, Looking for some assistance here. Can you view my food diary and give any suggestions. Just wondering if I'm on the right track. I go to the gym 5-6 times a week (3 days strength training and 2-3 days cardio). Thanks

Stock and Fresh Herbs
These two things do so much for food, I just never can get over it! The wild rice I just ate, made with 75% stock and 25% water, holy friggin' crap! SO GOOD! And using fresh herbs, rather than dried herbs in Italian food, or any food for that manner, you can't beat it! Making stock is really easy too. So, who here just…

Low cal crackers?
I LOVE the Laughing Cow cheese wedges (35 cal.) especially the garlic herb! I had been putting it on Wheat Thins, but they are 140 cal for 15 of them. Any one have any ideas of lower calorie crackers that don't taste like cardboard?

meal replacement/protein shakes
Any good suggestions for a meal replacement shake. I like hem for lunch because its easy and controls how much. I like high protein, fiber is good too, low cal and something that will keep me full! I've used ProFlex 20 on occasion but its supposed to be for after a workout.

Adding veggies to your food chart?
How do you chart veggies? Yesterday I ate a salad made up of shredded carrots and raw cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. I have no idea how to add this to my daily food. Or, would it be like WW's as a freebie?

The Eat Your Heart Out Diet
I'm wondering if anyone else has tried this diet, and if so, what results did you get. A co-worker of mine and I are planning to give it a go. Seems like a good way to kick-start healthy eating. I've actually done days 1-3 at different times; not as a diet, but because we'd had a party and had lots left over (nobody wanted…

Quinoa- what am I doing wrong?!
So I love quinoa, but I think I'm missing something- everyone keeps talking about it as a low carb option, but I keep going way over my calories for the day when I have it. Maybe I'm not measuring properly? A typical quinoa salad that I can pick up around school or local places is about 1.5-2 cups prepared. Does quinoa…

Jason Vales Juice Detox diary
Hi everyone. I've been interested in the idea of 'detoxing' for a while now. I know there's a lot of contradicting evidence for and against. I've suffered from many skin conditions and allergies brought on by food in the past and removing these from my diet for a small amount of time can get rid of the symptoms. I thought…

Milk fats
There are too many threads from folk about cows milk and I really don't want this thread to turn into another one of those. I don't really care what your thoughts are about cows milk, I've made my decision and am sticking with it. Great, got that out of the way! This is not so much about weight loss as I am at a healthy…

Dairy Free for a Few Days
Hello! Thanks for reading. So I have been trouble "going" lately. And have been trying everything I can think of to help. I just read an article that says if you're lactose intolerant, even slightly, dairy consumption can cause constipation. I am somewhat lactose intolerant, though it was worse when I was a kid. So I…

What to bring for lunch
I'm a student in High School and I have a hard time figuring out what to take with me to school. PB&J are too many calories, carbs and eating it every day is getting old. I need help with some easy lunch ideas that I can take with me to school. Any ideas?

Apples-WHOPPING SUGAR CONTENT???
So, I thought an apple a day kept the doctor away? What is the deal with my lovely Honey Crisp Apple putting me over the edge on my sugar content and I've only eaten breakfast so far!!!!!!!!!! I thought apples were low on the glycemic index, no?? I love apples and used to have like 2 a day and still lost weight. Should I…

Tracking sugar
Is tracking sugar really that important for someone who is NOT diabetic, doesn't have a lot of fat to lose and is mostly coming from more natural sources like fruit, veggies and raw honey? I have non fat plain Greek yogurt which has sugars in it. I wonder if I should switch to fuller fat Greek yogurt.....i like the non fat…

I need help curbing my appetite.
Okay, maybe it's not my appetite. All I know, is that I can eat a full breakfast (eggs, grits, toast) or even a footlong Subway, and not too long after, I will have the desire to snack, or possibly even eat more. I'm not overweight (125lbs at 5'4) but I am looking to cut off 10lbs, while building muscle (which obviously…

Protein and sugar...
Hey guys! So, today I went for unprocessed foods (Trying to make this a thing) and I went quite a bit over my average protein and sugar intake. But is it acceptable if the sugar is from fruits/vegetables, and the protein from Poultry (Eg chicken, eggs). I really need to know so I can either stop or continue with this!…

Does this make sense?
I not only work the night shift but I work 12 hour shifts. I wind up with 2 "friday's" a week and my fridays tend to be around 20-22 hours long. My "sundays" tend to be 12 hours or less. My thought was that I should take my caloric goal and divide it by 16 (since the ideal day is being awake for 16 hours and asleep for 8),…

cheat meal of fasting day?
so i have heard that a cheat meal once a week can help boost your metabolic rate back up to normal and so does no/little harm to a diet AND allows you to eat what you want once a week. My mother also told me recently that if you go one day a week with VERY low calories (700) this allows you body to "reconnect" with hunger…

Although it is something I am considering putting some money towards. I'm always interested to learn new things and this book sounds very intriguing.

20 somethings SUCK
[jealous rant] Im sitting over in Afghanistan, in my upper 30's, trying to manage my caloric intake and get the proper ratios to go along with my INSANITY program. These youngsters are sitting next to me, eating 3 Italian Sausages which are labled as 47% fat, downing 2 or Chicken breasts, massive plates of salad with RANCH…

Food allergies to things that are recommended
... like seafood. I keep hearing of the benefits of fish and seafood. I'm hideously allergic to anything from the ocean that has flesh (i can eat seaweed) ... but am I missing out on some manner of vitamin that i'm not getting elsewhere? I can't tolerate the seafood at all. One mouthful and I'm throwing up for three days.…

anyone wanna help w/ a recipe revamp? : )
One of my favorite comfort foods that my Mom makes is Chicken Spaghetti. It's simple, but soooo good. I've only been on here for 4 days, but am sticking to it and eating as clean as possible. Just out of curiosity, I decided to see how many calories the recipe contained (since I know it's pretty rich). Oh. my. Christ. Over…

New Quest bar flavor
Quest came out with a new flavor last Thursday: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Just got mine yesterday and am having one for my mid-morning snack (hey, I get up early) today. I have died and gone to heaven. Best flavor yet. Better than Chocolate Brownie.
